I have used Sila in the past to repair one of our heating and cooling units. They have been very good at performing those repairs, making sure that the diagnosis is accurate and the repair when complete addresses the problem. So when they offered a Big Deal on plumbing services, I took them up on it. Making the appointment was very easy. As with the scheduling of many things like plumbing, the windows of time provided are not always that accurate. The plumber is driving long distances between jobs. So I got a call at the end of the window to say that the plumber would be about half an hour late. It worked out okay for my schedule and the revised time was in fact accurate. The plumber Sila sent out was clearly very good and very efficient. He completed the three jobs within the hour that I had booked him for, and moreover, the repairs that he did have not failed (not something that can be said for all plumbers even for small jobs like these). Overall, I hope Sila becomes a full-service repair company since they clearly have a knack for ensuring high-quality work at less than most others charge.

Overall it was not a good experience.

Before scheduling potential work, I found out that our condo a**'n already had a similar service paid for through condo fees, so I cancelled the Big Deal with Silva. So, they didn't do any work but were very considerate of the situation, so I'd rate them "Good".

Arrived promptly, was very pleasant. Patiently answered all my questions.

I think they did a good job and I would hire them again.

got the Big Deal through Angies list. The appointment scheduling was fast, the company was very responsive. The technician arrived on time. He looked at the gas boiler and cleaned it, checked the heating elements and all the valves. There is a leak in one of the valves which he pointed out. After the cleaning and tune up he gave an estimate for the repair of the valve if we would like to go with that. There was no pressure at all which I like. I also asked him a question about our floor boards in a bedroom so he took a look at that. Overall I'm happy with the company and the tech.

They came when they were supposed too. The guy who came was very informative. He went over my system with me. He was instructive on the system and how it works. I appreciated all that. He made recommendations if I was interested in upgrading for higher efficiency and replacing my hot water heater to a more efficient system which I also appreciated. He was not too pushy of a salesman in that regards. All of that was positive. The only thing he fell short on was he was supposed to follow-up with a quote which was very delinquent in coming. I asked for it to be detailed and itemized, and it was one line for a whole lot of money. So, I was disinterested in pursuing it further.

It went very well. This year Anthony did the servicing and he was running late and I was getting worried, but the office called and let me know, so that put me at ease. I am very pleased with Sila.

The tech arrived for the initial visit a little later than the window I was given over the phone, but not unduly late, maybe 15 or 20 minutes over. He was polite and professional, and thorough as far as I could tell. He spent about 45 minutes or so diagnosing the problem, and it became clear he didn't have the parts to finish the job in that visit. The problem was that the A/C was on instead of the heating system (the heat pump handles both chores), so no hot air was being produced. He essentially shut off the A/C, which forced the heating system on, so I would have heat, and told me that according to the heat pump manufacturer's rep, there were 2 possible causes for the problem: 1) the thermostat was broken; 2) a circuit board in the outside unit was malfunctioning and would need to be replaced. The first alternative was much more likely, so he ordered the part and told me the company would call to schedule an installation time when it arrived. I asked for, and received, the $30 Angie's List discount. The part took about 3+ weeks to arrive, and I was given several dates/times from which to choose an installation appointment. The tech - a different fellow - arrived on time at 8 AM. He explained what he was going to do, in detail, and also the steps necessary to verify that the new thermostat had indeed fixed the problem. Since I had just had new carpets installed and he had to go outside to work on the outside unit, he asked if I wanted him to wear some kind of foot protection so the new carpets wouldn't get stained, a gesture that I much appreciated. After the thermostat was installed, he explained how to program it, briefly. The job took about an hour. The tech, like his predecessor, was friendly, polite, and very professional. All in all the work done appears to be of high quality. But it's not inexpensive. The 2 visits cost me $440. Based on the receipts, the service charge for the initial visit was $89, and the labor rate was $180. I had been quoted a $250 price for the second visit. Excellent work all in all, so probably worth the price. I'll use them again, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I scheduled to have them out at 8am. I got a call at 7:30am on that morning and was notified of a staffing issue and they wouldn't be able to come at 8. I called them back to reschedule later in the day. He came out on time according to the newly scheduled appointment. He was very personable, provided a thorough inspection/tune up, and left a detailed report. Everything seemed to look okay regarding our system. He was also pleasant, professional, and competent.

I was extremely impressed with Sila and with the service man, Peter, who was on time, respectful and very knowledgeable. Peter went above and beyond what was expected, looking into heating concerns we had in a few rooms (the basement and kitchen) and pointing out quick solutions for both. He also explained our system to me since this is a new (old) home and we are still trying to understand everything. He did the full inspection and discovered that our filters were very dirty (after 10 months of renovations). I paid $90 for a new filter. I had mentioned to Peter some allergies I was having, so when he checked the filter, he said, "This is one of the dirtiest I have ever seen. I think this is going to make a big difference in how you feel." He really cared about how I was feeling and told me that we should have the ducts cleaned as well (not by him), since the old lady who lived here before had most likely not done that in decades. Thanks Peter and Sila! We will definitely use them in the future.

Had gas boilers that had not been cleaned, serviced for 5 years anyway. I decided it was time for some maintenance so we didn't find ourselves in a position where we had to replace them. They came in, checked the boilers, cleaned them and identified some areas where rust had corroded certain elements of the system.

Bobby arrived and he explained everything he was going to check. He is very personable and professional. I was completely satisified with the service provided. highly recommend.

After the tune up, the technician started saying my furnace needed a lot of work which was anywhere from $1000.00-$2500.00 which was shocking because the furnace has been working great. I got a second opinion and that company did not agree with what was told me.Only one item which wasn't urgent needed to be addressed.

Looked at system and gave me a "range" of problems to fix. Very excessive cost estimate and what appeared to be maximum overkill. Did not fix the problem during visit which I understand. However, I then called someone else who came to the house. Found a disconnected wire and fixed the whole shooting match and replaced filter for about #120 - very fair. That was a small fraction of the most basic repairs suggested by Sila. I will not use them again.

The Angies List promotion really helped because I would not have found Sila if I had not come across that deal. I have needed to get tuneups of two boilers for a two family house - the systems have not been tuned-up since installaton in 2003, so they needed it. Great price and great value. I think it is difficult to find companies that know steam systems and the technician Craig seemed to be familiar with them. He showed up late due to a previous job taking longer than expected; not surprising due to an end of the day appointment. I asked Sila before the appointment to get me a list of what is done during the tuneup and they did not have anything. As an engineer, I resisted the urge to not ask too many questions but the technician did not seem to mind and was patient. I reviewed the maintenance stated in the OEM manual and half of the items the technician either did or recommended not doing and stated reasons. Based on his experience the technician seemd to have considered answers to most of the questions. He advised against relief valve testing (not sure why) and advised against draining the boilers due to accelerated corrosion. I think I am picky when it comes to contractors and I thought Sila did a great job and I will use them in the future.

I got three estimates for the work and Ryan from Sila's offered the median price. As I was mulling over the offers and my finances, Ryan gave me a reminder call which was NOT in the least high-pressure for which I was thankful. They had also serviced my old furnace last fall and I liked the service and advice I received then. They were offering $500 off and Angies List had a coupon for $150.These were the reasons that I chose Sila. An installation date was set-up for a week out and then moved up to the next day which was fine with me. Ryan and two other men arrived on time and set to work. Ryan answered all my questions and forewarned me when the were testing the furnace since it made the CO2 alarms go off. I don't know the exact details of what they did but it was a complete installation and took several hours to finish Also, they cleaned up any debris beautifully. I was very satisfied to have a brand -new furnace to get through the upcoming winter. There were a few rather minor issues that were resolved. The contract that I signed was not very detailed compared to others and Ryan added slightly more detail to it. There was an issue with my credit cards and I got billed by two companies for the same work which gave me a start but was easily settled. Lastly, the company was off by one letter on my National Grid rebate form, this caused it to be rejected. I thought I would be out the $500 which Ryan had assured me that I was eligible for. I called the rebate office and they helped straighten it out and currently I am waiting for the rebate. I have now used the furnace and it works wonderfully. It seems I can keep the thermostat lower and still be warm. I will do a comparison between lat years and this years gas usage and see what my savings are.

I had actually scheduled an appointment for the installation of the water heater for a few weeks out. Unfortunately, my old water heater started leaking. So Sila was willing to work with me and install the new heater immediately. I have absolutely no complaints about this service. The plumber was polite, professional, and hard-working. The day of service, the new heater was delivered to my house. Then the plumber arrived, removed my old water-heater (which was leaking quite a bit by this point), and installed the new water heater.

I purchased the gas boiler 'checkup' package. The tech showed up on time and was professional and polite. He definitely knew what he was doing. He did a nice - seemingly thorough - job with our older, converted system. He noted that the 'sparker' was worn and would likely give out sooner rather than later. As ours was a converted system he warned that it wouldn't be easy to find a replacement and that it would likely cost a bit more than usual. He took pictures of it and sent it back to the office and said Sila would be in touch. I had NO problem with the visit (so technically, I have no problem with the Big Deal package I purchased). I will say, however, that Sila simply dropped the ball in following up. I didn't hear back from them. I called a couple times and was told they were still looking into it but would I be interested in purchasing a new boiler? They were far more interested in selling me a new heating system than proactively fixing the current one ... After calling them a couple times to inquire about finding a replacement 'sparker' and getting very little satisfaction, I stopped calling and got a referral for someone else.

I'm only responding because you keep asking for my opinion and I keep telling you that this deal was never completed

Sila installed the high velocity A/C system in the house 5 years ago. I was very happy when I saw a promotion for an A/C tune up. I contacted Sila and provided the promotional information and specified that I wanted only one of the two systems (the main one, as there's also a smaller, spit system in the basement) tuned up. They showed up on schedule and did the work when I wasn't there. Later, they contacted me about payment and said I owed the full price for TWO tune-ups. I told them I had purchased a discount tune-up for one system and had specified in writing that I only wanted the main system tuned-up. I address the issue to the manager and resolved the issue. While happy with their service, I was not happy with both the billing issue and the fact they serviced both A/C units.... Yes, I'd use them again; they do good work. However, ensure you have your documentation on what was requested and the agreed price.
