+ -1 moreGreat - Spent over an hour giving the furnace a thorough checkup and cleaning, replaced the thermocoupler, tried to help when the "smart" thermostat malfunctioned (we needed to have the thermostat replaced on warranty, no connection with Sila's work). The technician was knowledgeable, patient, and good at explaining. A couple of days later when our pilot light went out, Sila came back free of charge to doublecheck their work, and re-replace the thermocoupler (they said it looked fine, but wanted to be sure). No problems since. They were again thorough, professional and helpful. We asked them back to give us a quote on a new furnace. They were excellent in terms of explaining our options, and did so right on the spot (another vendor took down information but then said they would get back to us in a week or two). Not sure yet if we will go with them for a new furnace yet, but were impressed with their service thus far.

I was impressed with the efficiency of the person who answered my call. He arranged for Graham to come out to the house. Graham was punctual and professional. He was also patient and friendly. He did give great information about my heating options. He returned about a week later and reviewed my options in detail. I was impressed with the company's professionalism and follow-through. I decided to hold off entirely on this house project, but plan to employ Sila when I take it up again. I gave the pricing a B because furnace installations are expensive. Sila's price was not the lowest but I would choose them for their customer service.

+ -1 moreOverall the service was excellent. Anthony arrived as notified and immediatley went to work on our airconditioning system. He saw a problem, took a picture so we could see the issue and gave us reasoning and option to correct. We authorized the correction which was not covered by the service contract. Anthony did not rush through the process and checked all areas of the system to ensure functionality when needed. He then moved to our rental unit and did maintenance as needed. We have been very please with Sila and the staff they use to maintain and/or repair our heating / air conditioning systems.
Description of Work: We own a two family house and Sila installed heating and air conditioning systems tp both apartments. have a service contract with Sila Heating and on 4/8/2013 Sila came to the house to do the yeary maintenace on the air conditioning portion of both systems.

Hadn't used them previously, but was looking for a better option than my previous service provider (an incumbent referral from the previous homeowner). They contacted me same day I bought the deal, but were amenable when I told them I'd prefer to delay setting a date. I called several weeks later and booked an early appointment with only a weeks notice. The tech was professional, timely, and completed the work in a reasonable timeframe. He explained what he did, and made a soft-sell for a service contract. I refused, I'm please he didn't try to push it as some others have. I'll very likely use Sila again, especially if they have a similar special this summer for my AC tuneup.

+ -1 moreThe service tech, Bobby, did everything he could to clean up the mess he found. He explained everything to me in complete detail and then gave it all to me in writing. He recommended that I not run the system unless absolutely necessary. He suggested that I may want to have one of the engineers come out and give me an estimate on the replacing the system. I told him that I would most definitely want to do that. Within 5 minutes of his departure, the office had called me to set up an appointment for an engineer to come out to my house. I got an appointment for the very next day at a time that was convenient for me. While the news I received was not exactly good news, Bobby did an excellent job of explaining the situation and making it clear to me that I need to take care of this before it becomes disastrous.
Description of Work: I'm in the process of remodeling my townhouse, out with the old, in with the new, and making sure everything is working efficiently so I called to have a tune-up done on my furnace. I never knew you needed to do a tune-up on your furnace but when I saw the deal on Angie's List I figured it couldn't hurt. I've had the place for almost 12 years and have never had this service. To say the service tech was shocked at the condition of the furnace would be an understatement! Apparently, I'm lucky the house didn't burn down. While he was here, I asked him to check the central air as well. He cleaned and checked the coils, blowers, burners, flame safety system, pilot assembly, gas valve/pressure, electrical components, filter, compressor, refrigerant, sequence of operation, superheat/subcooling, air distribution system. Basically, the system was classified as a sick/dangerous to operate system. The furnace is 28 years old and has never been maintained, at least not by me. The service tech found clogging in the air distribution system, burners, flame ignition system, heat absorption/rejection system. Basically, a hazard. And on top of that, the A/C unit had an incredible amount of mold. It's a wonder I don't have any health issues.... yet!

+ -1 moreOnce again I am reviewing Sila Heating and Air Conditioning. Last week I purchased two air conditioning systems. I really can't say enough good things abour the service techs. Jesse is phenomenal! Jesse and Bobby installed a new central air conditioning systen on Thursday, including putting the compressor on the roof of my 4 story townhouse! They were both so nice. They took extra care to make sure not to dirty my carpet or leave any mess whatsoever. They were conscientious about ensuring my kitty didn't get out. The worked really hard with no complaints. True professionals! Jesse was back on Friday to install a separate Mitsubishi ductless airconditioner in my bedroom, again having to work on the top floor and carry everything up all my stairs. He explained how he wanted to install it for maximum efficiency, and did a great job! Again he kept everything clean and was so nice and courteous. The "project manager" was inept, but fortunately he wasn't here much and didn't do any of the work.

+ -1 moreMy central air conditioner unit was aging and, during each of the prior two summers, broke down but were repaired with temporary fixes (the second time performed by Sila). I decided to purchase a new unit and went back to Sila based on their promptness in responding to my calls, pricing that I considered to be fair and their overall reputation. They arrived on time for all appointments, they worked efficiently, they cleaned up after themselves and I have an air conditioning unit that is trouble-free. Additionally, I prepaid for a service plan, and they proactively contacted me to schedule the maintenance service. For that, they again arrived on time and performed the work efficiently and without any mess.
Description of Work: Sila installed a new outdoor central air conditioner system (Lennox) and provides annual servicing of the system.

+ -1 moreThey performed the tune up on our attic air conditioning system and noticed that the system had no safety back-up in place to prevent water overflw in the tray. We had had a problem twice in the past where the collection tray overflowed because of a clogged drainage line and ruined the ceiling underneath. Sila installed the safety switch so that the system would shut down if the water did not drain properly.

+ -1 moreThe gentleman showed up pretty much on time (I won't fault a couple of minutes) and got right to work on checking out our a/c unit. He noted that whoever set things up in the closet was a crook (which we knew). He advised we get rid of our crappy air filter and replace it with one that wasn't put in by criminals. He also noted that a couple of mechanical parts looked like they might conk out in the near future. Yikes! He offered some service plans, told us what things could cost without the service plan, and seemed like an all-around knowledgeable and helpful guy, a credit to his employer. :D I'd he happy to find out how Sila will be for serious business, like whenever the a/c unit does start to fail miserably.

Description of Work: I did not use this company. I purchased a deal on Angie's List however, when it came time to redeem I was told I was out of their service area. After a few phone calls to the company my money was promptly reimbursed. Overall a bit disappointed that this was advertised as a deal in my area. I'm not sure if the break in communication was with Sila or Angie's on the coverage area.

+ -1 moreThey bump the price when using Angie's list coupon. At the end you pay more than average price for a mediocre service. They didn't performed several things that my usual provider did it to me. Also the motor of my AC unit was bad and I asked for an estimate. They asked $860 for work and parts. I replaced the motor by myself spending $89 plus an hour of work for the installation. Not worth it call them again.

+ -1 moreWe bought a "big deal" from Angie's List. The team who came out for the tune up was great. They took pictures and explained everything. My one issue with the company was I felt like they were trying hard to sell packages. We needed leaves cleaned out of the bottom of our condenser, this could not be done "a la carte" but was combined with a package, something like the 2nd more expensive or "silver package." So the lowest package could not include the leaves. I felt like we may not need all the services and could not afford the cost of the silver package. The team was pleasant and professional.

They came when they said they would (he was actually here early and he sat outside the house so politely, waiting for it to be the exact right time. I went outside when I noticed him and invited him to start - the man was super polite and professional. they explained what they were doing and gave me information about the heating system and some of the old parts of it that were still attached but no longer functional from some previous contractors' work. They completed the work and gave me a bid for some additional work we might want to have done - which was reasonable and responsive. I am happy with their work.
Description of Work: Sila did an inspection, tuning and cleaning of my heating system and they were efficient, communicative and helpful. They also gave me a bid for additional work I am considering and it was reasonable. I will be contacting them to do it soon.

+ -1 moreI purchased this service in January, and was a few days later to schedule the service. I request end-or-season servicing, which was not a problem for them. I was told I would be called before the service person would arrive. This was done, and the serviceman arrived at the predicted time. We talked about what was to be done. He asked if I'd like a few upgrades to my equipment. When I said, "No thank you," there was no pressure to pursue that topic. The serviceman got to work. When he was finished he pointed out two maintenance activities I should perform regularly, namely, a bulb replacement for UV lamp, and better way to support the filter. He was courteous and considerate.

+ -1 moreThe service was very good, but the estimates for replacement of a couple of parts (which I knew needed to be replaced even before the tune-up, so this was not a surprise) seemed pretty high. I would use them again for their service but their estimate almost double what the plumber who eventually did the additional work charged me. Otherwise, it was a pleasure working with them and the employee who did the work also taught me a bit about my boiler.

I especially appreciated receiving a confirmation call the day before my appointment... no wondering if they'll show up. The best part is that the servicemen were thorough and knowledgeable. After the tune-up was done, they talked to me about my heating system, helping me to learn and to plan for the future. They did this in a manner that was neither pushy or sales driven. Great job!
