Sila Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical

They were average and on price point. They did lack when I asked a couple questions about an AC unit on the wall and they did not follow through on that. They were average in all aspects.

After being left hanging by another provider I almost gave up on Angies List! This had been my first experience using the site and I was disappointed in the way the first provider never showed up after scheduling a time and then called late at night to reschedule! However Silas was fantastic!!! Right on time, quick and efficient! The repairman was very nice and knew just what was wrong!

Sila provided great service. I called to request an appointment for non-urgent service and was given an appointment within just a few days. Technician called the day before to see if he could come earlier and then called on the morning of to give me his precise arrival time. Both technicians (Craig and Al) were very professional and helpful. Would definitely use Sila again.

Sila was great. Easy to work with and responsive. Great turnaround time. We had them out to tune up our furnace in fall 2011. They came out a few days after calling them the first time. Tuned up the furnace and inspected it. They told us that the furnace was on its last leg but would likely make it through the winter, which it did. The next summer we had sila out to give us a bid on the new furnace as well as a few other providers. Their price was on the higher side, but not the most expensive. The reason for the higher side on the price is the quality of furnaces that they install. We went with sila and had a new high efficiency gas furnace installed and have had no problems with it. Another reason that we ended up going with sila for the new furnace aside from the quality of product they work with was based on our first experience with them. Very professional people and easy to work with. I never felt like they were trying to up-sell us on anything and were patient with all of our questions before deciding on a new furnace. It goes to show first impressions do matter, and it ended up getting sila a job for $7500 after the initial tune up experience. We'll definitely use them again when the need arises.

They gave a breakdown of the work before performing tune up on the compressor in the exterior and examining the system in the interior. They made a number of reasonable and well thought out recommendations involving the air handler and the air duct.

very professional and pleasant. as our system for two heating and two airconditioning units is over 25 years old , sila will come out to do an estimate of needed long term upgrades. i appreciated the pleasantness and professionalism of their representative.

The installation went very well. Jim was very efficient and was very gracious answering any questions I had. After the installation he cleaned up. He is a very neat Plumber. He had all tools needed for the job. Surely will use his Company again. The office staff was very polite and informative and confirmed the appointment a few days ahead.

This is the first time I used Sila for annual maintenance. I had previously been using my original A/C installer, Needham Oil and Air, but had become dissatisfied by their high and increasing prices for maintenance services. Sila identified three significant issues with my installation. The first two were failures to install standard float switches for a basement water pump and the third-floor air handler's internal condensate pan, both of which are pre-wired for these circuits (!). These deficiencies had led directly to expensive issues for us in the past (floods in both basement and third floor when on vacation due to blocked condensate lines). The third issue was in some ways even more significant: one of the coolant lines had dangerously high pressure because too much refrigerant had been added to it. In 2006, one year after Needham installed our A/C system, as part of annual maintenance they charged me several hundred dollars for extra refrigerant, claiming that the coolant pressure in one of my systems was low. Evidently, that was not the case. Sila fixed all three issues, and checked the system over. The total cost came to only about $50 more than the standard Needham Oil & Gas charge for annual maintenance.

Sila was great. They sent someone out to my house within 24 hours (this was not dire because I had electric backup heat). They did not have the part I needed,so they temporarily restructured the plumbing to allow the system to run. A few days later, they came back with the part. Overall the pricing was a little expensive, but the service was great!

After a cancelled appointment and some negotiating, the technician showed up early (which was OK as I was home). He did a clean-up of the unit. I was particularly impressed with his attention to detail when inside the house (he used foot coverings). There's not much else to say.

Overall the service went fine. There is really no story to tell. He came on time, did the job. I spoke to him briefly about the boilers. He told me the heating capability of the boilers were between 80 and 85%. He tagged each boiler and left. I would say he spend about an hour working on both boilers. End of story.

I called them and left a message they called me right back, and I told them that I needed a gas water heater 40 gallon, they said yes they have that and I told the date and they accommodate me on that date, They call me I told them I will be back by 1pm, they said the person will be there on time but then they said they could be there earlier if I wanted and I said that's good it will save me sometime. I would recommend them for anybody.

Service tech was extremely professional and punctual with his visit. He clearly explained the damage and pointed it out to my fiance (I was at work during the visit), and we discussed the various options where he highlighted the risk. We ultimately decided to move forward with the repair. The service tech was originally scheduled for only this 1 hour inspection/cleaning, and I feared with the repair they would need to book another service visit to accommodate. We were pleasantly surprised when he called his dispatcher to have his other appointments serviced by other techs, and he remained at our condo to complete the work that day. He cleaned up after himself (better than it was before, probably) and explained all the changes made including a detailed service history tag he left behind. Was a fantastic experience and would use Sila again.

It went very good. The vendor arrived on time, honored the price they quoted and did the job professionally.

The Big Deal was a good deal; their additional work seems a bit more expensive than some others i've been quoted, but I went with them because they are professional and reliable.

Overall it is good. But I am able to review more when the service is done

Everything went great. They came out and did the estimate very quickly. The guy that did the estimate was extremely responsive, friendly, and answered all of my questions and seemed very knowledgeable. They are very good at communicating with the customer. The installation went as expected and though I haven't used the central air yet as it has been too cold out but things appear to be good.

Sila Heating & Air Conditioning came out, did the work and it was fine. They didn't wait for us to call them, they called us to book an appointment to do the work.

Bobby was the tech who did the work. Bobby explained everything and as he went along and did a great job from start to finish and had an outstanding personality.

Prompt and thorough service

We purchased the house in August 2012, and the furnace had clearly not been serviced for a few years. I'm not sure exactly what Sila did, but they were able to reduce the loud knocking and creaking that the radiators made each night when they kicked on. They were also able to improve the heating efficiency with the family room radiators, which prior to this had been running constantly and putting out almost no heat. We had even brought in a small electric space heater to supplement, but we were able to put this away once Sila completed the work. We did end up paying more than what the Big Deal cost because the technician had to stay longer in order to complete the tune-up, but it wasn't that much. He provided instructions on how to keep it maintained througout the winter. It was a very good experience.

I was impressed that they called me within two days of buying an Angie's List deal to schedule the appointment. I was not impressed that they failed to show up at the scheduled time. I waited for two hours and nobody showed up. Wasted an entire morning. Not a happy camper. Vendor claims there was a miscommunication. UPDATE: The service technician showed up on time, and did the turn on and tune up service on two a/c units in about 1 hr. Very polite, neat, and professional. He explained what he did and left clear documentation. We will use this vendor again.
