Several months later we are having issues again (at the same or even lesser use rate of the AC than before). Called them to come back and fix the problem and they are talking about charging us again. What a SCAM.

It was easy to schedule the appointment and the tech arrived on time and was very thorough. He replaced the filter and cleaned the furnace. Description of Work: BEWARE, THIS PLACE LIES AND PLAYS GAMES WITH YOU. MADE APPT. CALLED AND CONFIRMED 2X. 1 DAY OF APPT--1 HOUR BEFORE SCHEDULED WINDOW AND IT WAS A GO. WAITED 12-3PM, MY CONFIRMED 2X WINDOW. PLUMBER NEVER SHOWED UP. CALLED 3:20PM TO GIVE THE PLUMBER LEEWAY OF TIME TO BE LATE AND THEN CALLED TO FIND LOCATION. WHEN I CALLED THEM BACK, THEY SAID I DIDN'T HAVE AN APPT TODAY. I TOLD HIM THAT I SPOKE TO A WOMAN WHO CONFIRMED AND 4 HOURS 20 MINUTES AGO AND THEY SAID IT WAS CONFIRMED AND THAT IT WAS EARLY AND MY SCHEDULED TIME WINDOW IS NOT FOR ANOTHER HOUR. + -1 moreTechnician showed on time and being able to diagnose the problem quickly. Changed electrical prime control for one system and it worked. Then changed part for other system and it then worked too. parts cost 485 each, plus 89 first 30min with $90 each further every 30min. They also took the coupon bought from angies list. A little pricy but can fix your problem quick. I guess it worth.
Description of Work: 2 heating systems, one gas and one oil, both down not running. suspected to have something with the power surge last month. Called Sila and responded very well. They scheduled for 2 day in wait.

+ -1 moreI asked for a price quote to insulate an air duct on my forced hot air system. I was told that I would be charged $89 just for them to come out to look at it plus an additional $35 charge per 1/2 hour that they spent there. It would have cost me a minimum of $125 just to get a quote. Seems to be a very arrogant way to run a business. Business development is usually the cost of doing business. They didn't get mine. I found someone to come out and give me a very reasonable quote without charging me for it.

+ -1 moreThe existing baseboard heating was linked by pipes under the concrete floor. I wanted the entire old system removed and replaced with an above-floor system. I could not have asked for more professional treatment by the Sila team. They were always quick to respond and right on time. Their work was professionally done with special attention to limit damage to existing walls. They worked cleanly and with great care and safety. Pricing was slightly higher than other estimates, but I went with a good feeling and made the right choice. I would certainly go with Sila again.
Description of Work: Removed old forced-hot-water baseboard heating, replaced with all new above floor.

+ -1 moreThe technician imposed an unethical hard-sell of an overpriced new syste when just hired to do a furnace tune up. . He said he was up for a review, with the implication that a sale would help him. Aggravating waste of time. My impression was that the Angie’s List cheap price was a way to get Sila in the door, to create false problems with false readings ( manipulation of instruments) and scare tactics. The scare tactics didn’t work. I priced new systems at a third of their price. I was disappointed with their management’s response. I do not recommend this company: I learned my lesson to not be sucked in by a low price for a service that came along with an alterior motive.

+ -1 moreI wanted to purchase a $59 Gas Boiler tune-up deal through Angie's List, but I wasn’t sure that I could get the deal, since I purchased a similar deal for my A/C unit in the spring, so I contacted Sila and they told me they would honor the deal, so I called and made an appointment. When the day arrived, Sila called and asked if the technician could come early instead of waiting until the afternoon appointment time. I said that was fine with me. The technician arrived about 30 minutes later and got right to work. He cleaned the burners, fire box and pilot assembly, checked the expansion tank, air vent, valves and fittings, checked all electrical components, cycled both zones, checked the circulator pumps and performed a combustion and efficiency test. I was impressed with his thoroughness. The technician told me that the thermocouple was in pretty bad shape and he recommended replacement. I told him to go ahead and replace it. I wasn’t surprised to see it as a separate charge on the bill, but I was surprised at the amount: $125. For that reason I rated the price as fair instead of excellent.

+ -1 moreThe technician was either a really good sales man or a very insecure man. He repeated himself with phrases such as “I went to school for this”, “service isn’t cheap”, etc. anyway, after I complained that my house takes forever to cool, he told me I had a Freon leak on both units and estimated it would cost at minimum $2-3k to get fixed. He seemed confident and that he knew what he was talking about but o still didn’t pull the trigger. I called a local tech to check out my system. Immediately he knew what was wrong: my unit was replaced with a far bigger system and the duct work didn’t have enough return vents. He did a simple test to prove to me that he was right and just like that my air vents were 10x’s more powerful!!! He tested and said my Freon levels were fine too. He cut up more return vents and I can’t be happier!! Moral of the story: just because they act like they know what they are talking about, they probably don’t - get a second opinion!

+ -1 moreSo far this is the best, most responsive, easy to work with HVAC business I have ever dealt with. I called for service at 8:00a.m. and they were able to schedule someone to come out at noon that very day. The technician was very professional and competent. The blower motor and fan blade would have to be replaced. They were able to get the replacements in one and a half days. They scheduled me for installation for the day after the parts came in! This wonderful experience was well beyond my expectations. I highly recommend Sila. They also do boiler/heating service so I will definitely be contacting them at the start o the season.

It was determined that I needed to replace my central A/C system. Sila's quote was over $9,000. I found a competitor that installed the same system for $6,000.
