We have an older boiler they came in and cleaned it. They proceeded with a gingerly touch when cleaning it. It still works well now.

The technician was on time and curteous. I decided to use this company again because they had sent a reminder card and the cost was decent. I wanted to create a business relationship with a company in the area. I asked him if there was anything that needed to be done on the furnace. He recommended that it be replaced as it was 20 years old and that it was too big for the house that it was heating. I told him that I would think about it. As the technician left, I asked if everything was done in the basement or did I need to go down to check and shut off lights, etcetera as I was having some difficulty walking especially up and down stairs at the time. I was told everything was fine; all lights were out and again that I needed to replace the furnace. When I went to replace the air filters two and 1/2 months later, I discovered that the metal panel to the furnace had not been replaced and was very carefully leaning upright on the side of the furnace. I wasalarmed and upset as I am not that familiar with this furnace as to know how much flame was being exposed for this length of time. I haven't made up my mind as to whether or not I would hire this company again. Everyone can make mistakes. I definitely will be closely supervising and inspecting any company's work even if it takes me a lot of time to go up and down the stairs. In fairness to the company, I did not directly complain to them as a long time had passed. I managed to replace the panel.

The technician showed up and started working on the furnace. He just kept telling me that the furnace was old and needed to be replaced. I told him that I couldn't do this now. He said that it needed to be replaced and that there were payment plans.

The service turned out fine, however they advertised that they would inspect some of the parts of the toilets, but they did not do that. There were no additional charges.

Everything went well. The only negative comment I have is that the AC output temperature at the registers in the home was not measured as specified in the "Big Deal" details. If I had thought of it at the time I would have asked and I'm sure the technician would have taken it.

As described above, the service was not performed because I did not call until after the expiration date, and the company was not willing to consider an alternative solution.
Description of Work: I did not realize that there was an expiration date on the contract. I called after the expiration date. The company informed me that my purchase was expired. I asked whether the payment could be applied to some heating system service which the company provides, and I was told that the company would not do that. Although technically Sila may have been correct, this behavior is not a way to win new customers.

Sila offered a very attractive "Deal" for a 3/4-ton ductless air conditioner. Since we needed one that size as well as a 3-ton unit, I asked them to quote both. I should note that from the start I found the company's proprietor to be a bit testy: when his assumptions or recommendations are questioned he tends to take any remarks to the contrary as a personal affront. That's not a great basis for a successful working relationship, but I thought that if we were able to hammer out a mutually agreeable contract he would fade into the background. Sila's proposal addressed the two HVAC units separately. The price for the smaller one was competitive, but the price for the larger one was not. As a result, I accepted the agreement for the smaller unit, but demurred on the larger. (Another Angie's List authorized contractor quoted a price 2/3 that quoted by Sila. Frankly I would have happily given the second contractor both jobs, but already had a signed agreement with Sila for the smaller unit.) I tried to orchestrate the work of the two contractors. The work of the second contractor needed to take place first and I had requested Sila schedule their installation for the end of this week. Despite a raft of e-mails setting up that schedule, on Sila called on May 5 to say they'd be coming the next day; I mistakenly thought this call was confirmation from the second contractor who was indeed supposed to perform his work on May 6. As a result, we ended up with both contractors on the scene at the same time. That didn't seem to unduly trouble the second contractor, but it outraged Sila who pulled off the job without doing anything. Sila tried to then stick me with the equipment they refused to install, saying it was mine and I should get the second contractor to install it. Needless to say, I wasn't about to accept any equipment without getting a price, but Sila just drove off, saying they'd sell it at "their price." That should have been on the order of $1,000 to $1,200, however, eventually they reported that "their price" was $1,800--yet another attempt to exploit the consumer. Ultimately they came back and took their equipment away. This turned out to be awkward for everyone, but rather than cooperating to find some workable resolution, Sila's approach was to "take their ball and go home." Based on this, I would not recommend this contractor to anyone. I don't doubt their ability to do the work from a technical standpoint, notwithstanding all the proprietor's complaints about and objections to whatever unusual conditions might have to be overcome. The second contractor had no significant difficulty completing installation of the larger unit in a manner Sila insisted was impractical and unacceptable. The lesson is perhaps all too obvious in retrospect: Stay away from any contractor who appears pigheaded and unwilling to work collaboratively toward shared goals, no matter how many testimonials and awards he possesses.

They were outstanding in every way, The 2 members I dealt with Brian and john, were incredibly knowledgeable. They didn’t try to sell us the most expensive product, but helped us find the best option for our older home. I have never worked with such professional, competent contractors, and would recommend them in a heartbeat, both of them took a lot of extra time to make sure everything was running as it should be, they fixed shabby work that previous contractor did. Even moved shutoff valve, to where we could easily reach them. You could tell they really cared about what they were doing. They took the time to explain every that they were doing, sometimes more than once. They spoke in layman’s terms. It was an extensive job that took 2 days to complete, but when they area was spotless

It was great that he gave me the $89 service Angie's deal on all three systems (I was prepared to pay a higher price for the other two). He did a complete service of all three systems. He made a number of suggestions for replacements/maintenance - the house is six years old and we just moved a year ago so I'm not sure how well maintained the system was prior to that. I did one of his suggestions - changing out the traps so they can be easily cleaned and have float protection to avoid a water backup leak. That's why the price was high. I didn't comparison shop so don't know if that was a good price, but I saved on an extra service call and was pleased with the service. I will definitely use them again.

They are always polite and helpful- from the scheduler through the "Are you home?" calls, and the actual worker. This visit they checked all the systems- heat and A/C. Cleaned outside A/C units of leaves, etc. . Ordered covers for A/C units for me, which have since been delivered. The previous visit was an "extra" visit because we were getting enough heat from one of the furnaces. The visit was schedule for the next day and the problem was solved within an hour- with no additional costs.

Purchased an inspection of the water heater as I had an issue with the pilot going out. Found out that the water heater was also on its way out. No pressure to purchase one from the provider, but I did so as they were very friendly and professional. Also the contact individual who set up the appointment was very nice and helpful, even when I had to cancel and reschedule at the last minute.

There was no outcome with a live person to determine. This winter I had an issue and it started costing me a lot. I don't know if the problem was anticipated by Sila. Since then, I have been going to plumbing heating specialist who charges much less. They waited for things, which Sila would have not left. I basically stopped using Sila.

Two different techs arrived as promised at 8am on Monday morning. Billy and Anthony was very pleasant and went right to work. They covered all of our floors leading to the furnace with clean tarps. Billy had a lot of great questions about the history of the system and out home environment. He suggested that he begin with a thorough test of the existing coil(sits on top of your air handler over the furnace) and lines. He wanted to be certain that the lines were not the source of the leak. (took a deep breath here it would have been difficult and pretty expensive to run new lines!). After they pumped out any remaining refrigerant and filed the system (coil and lines with nitrogen to pressure test it and let it run for quite awhile they saw the pressure drop. They then isolated the lines and tested just them. Soon it was clear the leak was just from the coil unit. The coil unit is matched with the compressor that sits outside your house and is usually (not always) replaced when you install a new compressor. Good news so I started breathing normally again. They then began to dismantle and place the coil and compressor. They were careful to remove our smoke detector while brazing the new connections near the furnace. I took the extra step to call our fire alarm company to put the system in test while they were working. By early afternoon everything was hooked up and they begun another round of careful pressure testing. Everything was just fine and we turned on the a/c system in 52 degree weather :( They were able to monitor the system with their gauges and I used my trusty infrared thermometer to check the temperature drop at the various vents in the house. It worked just fine and the new Lennox unit was very quiet. They then had me switch over to heat to make sure that was worked just fine and it was. We have Nest Thermostats which are well worth it and made it easy to make changes from my iphone without running around. They reviewed the operation and maintenance items. Billy also mentioned that Lennox sells a sound blanket the covers the compressor motor which cuts the sound even more. Since the unit was close to our bedroom I went for it as well as a cover for the winter months..come to think of it sort feels like winter now here :( I wish it was warm enough to really test this out but looks like that could be a month away. But we are very pleased with everything that was done. The people were terrific and they did nice neat work and were very methodical and thorough in their testing. Glad we picked SIla!
Description of Work: We had a Goodman Air Conditioning system which was less than 5 years old but plagued with problems. It used the older (and no longer made) R-22 refrigerant, the cost of which nearly doubles every year. After 2 other companies tried to keep it operating (and recharged twice) it still leaked refrigerant. The previous companies were unable to find the leak (they just replaced a couple of valves) . We contacted Sila based on the great reviews on Angie's List and they sent out one of there techs named Brian a few days later. He tested the system and found almost all of the refrigerant leaked out yet again. Our minds had already pretty much made up that we needed to just go ahead and replace the system. Brian talked about the options and we went with his recommendation of a Lennox system with the newer (and less expensive) A410 refridgerant. NOTE: I am a very experienced homeowner and had already done a quite of bit of research about the various repair and replacement options. So this wasn't a decision made on a whim. Brian was here on a Thursday and he setup the installation on the following Monday. Quick service!! I was very pleased and impressed with Brian's knowledge, experience and professionalism
