Sila contacted me, said they had a time slot could get me yearly maintenance program done that day. I said yes, the technician arrived shortly thereafter. I have a gas boiler attached to an old hot water/radiator piping system. There technician, John, was very thorough. He actually did extra work on resetting some of the boiler settings which had not been done when another plumber had installed it 4 years ago. He was very knowledgeable,talked with me about upgrading the system in the future, what to do regarding anti freeze in the pipes. I'm in the 2nd year of a 3 year maintenance contract.. After I had tried (and failed) to diagnose the issue with my broken air conditioning, I called Sila. Brian was out exactly when he said he would be and got straight to work. I called at around 12:30, and he was out by 4:00, same day, which is fantastic considering how hot it is. After asking a few questions about the problem and having a look under the hood, he was able to very quickly figure out the problem - an incorrect wiring job done when the last HVAC company (not Sila) installed my air handler about 7 years ago. Once he figured that out, he had the AC back up and running in very short order. The whole time he worked, Brian was very professional. He always seemed like he knew exactly what he was doing, and explained things to me in detail as he went along. That's something I actually look for a lot when someone is doing work on my house: I like to have that person give me very specific information as to the causes and the fixes as they go along, and this service call was spot on. I also was able to ask Brian a couple of questions about some future work we are planning on doing, and he was very straightforward and honest about his recommendation. I really appreciate that. It instills a lot of confidence for me as I look to price out some of the larger jobs I am planning. Overall, the work was done quickly and effectively, and based on this call, I'll be calling Sila first for anything HVAC.

My air conditioning was not working at all and it was hot. I called Sila Monday morning and they were able to come out the same day. They gave me a broad window (11 to 3) but called a half hour before arriving. Brian and Bobby were very professional - they quickly determined I needed a new blower motor. They didn't have the correct replacement on their truck, but were able to have a runner come and bring the correct motor relatively quickly, avoiding the need to come back another day to finish. They installed the motor quickly and had the whole system running. They charge for a visit service charge ($90) and the repair. I don't know how comparable their prices are, but I was very happy with how quickly I was able to get my air conditioning fixed on a hot July week.

The control motor blew on my AC early this morning, and I called first thing Monday morning to schedule a service call. I was initially told someone could come later that afternoon, which was surprising given it was same day notice. Just a few minutes later, Dominick from Sila called me back and said a technician could be over in a half hour. I was overjoyed. Bob and Brian showed up, smiles on their faces and told me they got there as fast they could. My experience only got better, as the two put on foot booties before entering my home. Bob and Brian were extremely professional, polite and clean. From start to finish- which was only about two hours, the whole experience with Sila was satisfactory. I will definitely reccomend their services to all of my friends and clients.

Great service. No surprises for me, before or after. Craig arrived first thing (7am) and installed the heater and also repaired some work on the existing pipes that were "not to code" at no charge.
Description of Work: Initial water heater inspection confirmed that the tank was too old for further, safe use. This was as I expected. New water heater installed the following week, per my request. There was no pressure to use the same company, but I felt very comfortable with them, so did.

Our first appointment had to be delayed because of electrical problems at our house, but John Bisesti came right away as soon as we let him know the problems were fixed. He was thorough and professional, and explained our options clearly. There was a refrigerant leak, and we chose to replace the missing refrigerant and add a sealer. John did this, and then checked all parts of the system (including cleaning out the a/c equipment and lines in a number of places), and we now have a functional a/c system.. Our a/c is getting up there in years, and will need to be replaced at some point. We will definitely put John at the top of the list of people to talk to when the time comes.

The technician arrived on time and performed the tune-up as expected. He was very thoughtful about cleaning up afterwards (exception below) and answered all of my questions while he was performing the work. He made some helpful suggestions about future upgrades to HVAC systems, since we're looking to convert our oil based system to another fuel source. We did have one issue that arose after the service. We found that one of the oil filter caps hadn't been fully tightened after the technician replaced the filter. I didn't notice it at first, as the smell of oil was prevalent from the tune-up, but later that day I could still smell oil and found a small puddle beneath the filter. It was a bit of a hassle to clean up properly and dispose of, as I didn't have proper cleaning agents at the time, so I had to go buy some. It was easy enough to fix the leak, I simply had to tighten the cap just a bit more, but it was an unfortunate mistake on his part. I would use them again for other services, but will be more mindful and check the work more closely afterward when using a contractor.

We knew the HVAC system needed some work at our newly-purchased condo, based on the home inspector's report, so we called Sila, based on Angie's List reviews and some excellent work they did for us a couple of years ago at a previous house in Waltham. It was easy to schedule the work and Sila arrived as scheduled, on-time. Craig was the lead technician and he is exceptional. He was personable, professional, and knowledgeable. He spent some time examining our HVAC and answering my questions about the things the home inspector found. He was really good in explaining some highly technical matters in layman's terms. It was very helpful to me too in understanding the HVAC system in the new house. Craig was also very good at problem-solving and describing potential solutions to some of the system's shortcomings. He performed a thorough tune-up and inspection of our air conditioning system. He also removed a humidifier attached to the system that apparently was broken for years and was a breeding ground for mold and had caused some rust in leaking. And he patched the duct area where the dehumidifier had been. He also provided an estimate for making the filter more accessible. We were able to reduce the cost of the service from $199 to $169 with an Angie's List coupon. Craig is top-notch, and it is also obvious the Sila places a high priority on customer-service and recruits exceptional employees and treats them well. Highly recommended.

Our central A/C was installed 3 years ago by a different company that is no longer in business. It was not working so I called Sila based on other feedback on Angie's List. They said they would be out the same day between 12-3, possibly sooner, but they would call in advance and they did. The technician, John Gulstrom, was very professional and helpful. He ran some diagnostics on the unit and identified the problem as a blown capacitor and a low level of refrigerant. He had the correct replacement part on his truck, along with correct refrigerant and was able to repair. He also identified that the Condenser fan was not running as designed. The warranty on this had expired, and a replacement is expensive. John had a replacement part on his truck, but he suggested speaking with the manufacturer first, as although the part is not under warranty, it is unusual for it to fail within 3 years, and the manufacturer may provide assistance as a matter of maintaining their reputation. I asked John a ton of questions and he was very happy to answer in laymen terms. I even asked questions about our heating system and he explained how it works and his recommendations. He also explained the importance and benefit of regular seasonal maintenance. Lastly, whenever John was in the house he wore shoe coverings. This may seem like a minor detail, but it shows an appreciation for the customer. I expect to use Sila in the future and would welcome John to perform the work.

I couldn't be more pleased with my experience with Sila and service tech John Gulstrom. Although I did not have a service contract with Sila, they scheduled a service call for me on the next business day when my air conditioning stopped working. John arrived promptly - right near the beginning of the one hour window given to me by the office. Since I had a number of other commitments that day, I really appreciated the one hour window and John's promptness. John was polite, pleasant, and explained everything thoroughly. Once he identified the problem, he completed the install quickly, tested everything to make sure it was working properly, left the work area clean, and made sure he answered all my questions thoroughly before leaving. I will definitely be using this company again.

In the last month plus I have reached out twice to Sila to schedule an appointment to have them come out and quote me what a replacement system would cost. I made it clear I am not looking to start the project until September or later. Both times I got numbskull response from their sales saying that they aren't looking to do any project until late August. Well yes... I am not looking for August, I am looking at September at the early side. Still, it was like dealing with tech support that has zero care about the customer. If these people can't handle their own growth, maybe it is time for them to stop advertising everywhere or hire some additional help. Needless to say I will not be giving them my business. You treat someone poorly as a prospect, you will treat the even worse as customer.

The proposals at Sila are only good valid for 30 days and I am sure when our customer service staff heard that you would not be doing anything until September or later and that it was a heating related issue they explained that contacting us at the end of August would benefit your situation and time line the most. Prices for equipment change year round and our proposal to you know would not be accurate a month from now. We certainly did not want you to take our response to your needs negatively. We are always more than happy to give you a ballpark cost idea so that you at least have a number in mind to use until we pick up the heating season come late summer/early fall. Brian arrived on time, and walked through the house and examined our systems. After examining them he recommended that his mechanical engineer come back to draw up a reconfiguration. His suggestions were spot - on, and very helpful. Everything he said made sense and I am very happy that I called them. Our system has been problematic for so long I didn't think it could ever be resolved. But Brian gave me hope that they will be able to make all systems work more efficiently and productively.

What I liked about this company was that they responded immediately to my request even though it was not an emergency. The technician, John G. was very professional and explained the problem very clearly. I used them to check the system a few months ago, so he did not charge me for this visit. I am very impressed with the level of courtesy and professionalism of this company. I would highly recommend them. I am definitely going to use them for future heating or air conditioning services.

I called Sila at 11:30am and they were at my house within 2 hours. Others were quoting 2 weeks for a service call. My basement AC unit was not cooling and I had guests coming the next day and needed a working unit for their comfort. Brian came and greeted me in a very professional manner. I noted him putting on booties to protect the house from any soil on his boots. This struck me as a very profession gesture right off the bat. Brian accessed the situation quickly and determined my coil and evaporator had leaks. Due to the older refrigerant my system used, we discussed the pros/cons for repair vs replacement. Based on the fact that the unit was 12 yrs old, with multiple leaks, I chose to replace the unit. Brian provided options & quotes and advised me he would work with the installation crew to get the new unit in asap. He secured a slot 48hrs later. I was delighted my guest would only have one day without AC. The next day, I got a call from the installation crew advising me if I wanted, they could come out a day earlier. They showed up (like 3 of them) and worked hard to complete the job despite pouring rain. I had the old unit diagnosed, and a new unit installed within 24 hours in the middle of July. Hard to get much better!! I strongly recommend this company!

John Gulstrom was the technician who came. He was very professional (even wore booties over his shoes!) and was great about helping me think through the various options we should consider. Unfortunately the A/C system needs to be overhauled as it is quite old, but he was great about talking through things we need to consider before moving forward. What can I say? Not great news, but not totally unexpected. I was very impressed with John G and we will definitely work with Sila in the future.

Anthony was awesome! Found problem within the 1st 10 minutes. He had the part he needed on his truck. Checked the system out and was done in less than an hour.

Everything went fine. The technician, Pete , was prompt, courteous and knowledgable . He explained a few things about the type of unit I have and what to be aware of in the future. Pete was quite helpful. I also expressed interest in replacing a second heat pump and he contacted his engineering department for some information for that project.
Description of Work: I needed a system service call for my heat pump and the service technician,Pete, serviced the equipment and made some minor repairs. I also purchased a service plan for the unit.
