Overall it went very well. We had contacted them based on the designs on their web site, and Debba came in for a consultation. She was very professional and knowledgeable, and wound up making suggestions that really improved what we had in mind. We had initially planned to do much more, but then we looked on Angie's list and saw their poor ratings. Having initiated discussions with them, and not wanting to spend the time with someone else, we decided to have a look at the quality of their installations at their showroom, and finally opted to go ahead with a scaled back project. Although there was a little delay in scheduling, they came when promised and installed everything in one day. We are very pleased with the appearance and the performance of the work crew. Debba had warned us in advance of any gaps or issues that might raise concerns, and the net result was even better than I expected. We may or may not have them do more. Some of the prices seem a bit high, but we reallty haven't made direct comparisons. We feel that we got our money's worth.

They haven't started installing it yet but they have designed it. The thing I like about them is their responsiveness and artistic flair. I haven't seen their work but I like their design.

Heidi came as scheduled and was very pleasant. After looking at our space - a former small room that our contractor gutted, so we could have a walk-in closet - she prepared a design and gave us a price. We didn't hire Closets by Design because the design didn't provide enough hanging or storage and literally left one wall with just hooks because Heidi said there wouldn't be the requisite 24 inches of space between the two sides if she put storage and/or hanging on both sides. The price quoted, with the discount coupon, was about $3,400. As the designs from two other companies provided much more storage for a lower price, we didn't hire Closets by Design.

The install fit badly, looked cheap, was very overpriced for the extra hanger space it allegedly gave me. I could have done better with a kit from a home improvement store. I got a second opinion from another carpenter and he pointed out mistakes I'd missed. I paid half up front before installation. After installation I stopped payment on the second half. I asked Closets by Design to take back 2/3 of the material, I'd keep 1/3 (one closet that works, though badly fitted.) They agreed, very nicely -- and then hired a COLLECTION AGENCY to send me notice for the remaining half. The installers complained about the designers not knowing how to design, which caused them install problems. And complained they weren't getting paid for the extra time my install took. I can't believe I felt bad for them and tipped them. How naive.in light of the fact that Closets By Design called off the collection agency. Or so they told me they did.

They were great! Very responsive to me.

Designer miscalculated dimensions, and didn't allow for folding door, resulting in unusable shelves, when complained, and asked them to fix it at no extra cost, they refused.
