Viola Roofing & Contracting

We hired Viola Roofing & Contracting to install a new roof on our house and add some enhancements such as a gutter leaf guard system. It was our first major investment in the house since we bought it 3-1/2 years ago. We could not have been more pleased with the service we received from owner Mike Viola and his team. We first contacted Mike in February and soon after he came to our home to provide a quote. We could not believe how reasonable the price was compared to competitors. We received competing offers from other highly rated contractors but they all came in much higher, in one case over double Mike's quote. However, do not be fooled. The quality of the work was very high and amazingly fast. We received a new roof, leaf guards, improved downspouts and repaired chimney flashing and it took just 8 hours for Mike's team to complete the work. Moreover, our yard was spotless after the work was completed. At the end of the work, Mike's foreman conducted a walk around and I caught one minor detail that they forgot to address. There was no fuss and the next day they came back to finish up the work with no questions asked. In short, we give a big thanks to Viola Roofing for making the whole experience so pleasant and we can't emphasize enough how fair the price was considering the quality of the work and customer service. We would definitely recommend this contractor to others looking to replace their aging roofs.

It was an excellent experience. The crew arrived on schedule and were very efficient and thorough during the entire job. Because it was a roofing job, I gave it some time before submitting this review just to be sure there were no problems. I'd have to say the roof was tested pretty well after the winter we just had, so I'm confident everything was done according to the quote I received from Mike Viola.

Everything was perfect Mike always answers my calls or called back quickly when I had any questions. Job was done in one day and everything was left clean, they even did some extra stuff I didn't ask for and was not in the original contract like adding Ridge vents. I would hire Mike again if I ever need roofing work and would recommend him to any one needing this type of work.

This is a very professional operation. They came in when they said they would and took the amount of time they said they would. They did an excellent job. They were accessible throughout the process. When I had problems later with a window leaking because the sealant had given out, probably because of all the activity ( this is an old building), they were very responsive and came back twice to fix it. They made what could have been a very disruptive experience easy and I appreciate that a lot.

it went very well. They arrived on time and the job was done in 4 hours. There was some confusion with the city as to whether or not the permit had been paid for, but when I emailed Mike to notify him of the situation, he IMMEDIATELY resolved it. I'd definitely recommend him without hesitation. They're very professional and their work is excellent.

I was impressed with Viola Roofing's reputation, very competitive quote and professionalism. They got the new roof on in a day, for the price quoted. Everything looks great and it came with a good guarantee. I also had them return to break up some ice dams and remove some snow from the roof. Viola Roofing was very responsive and was able to come out between storm systems. They were even able to help my neighbor across the street who had leaking ice dams!

Very professional. Gave me a wriiten estimate, insurance info, and talked about a lien waiver. He was very open and honest. He even came back to answer additional questions. I like that his workmanship has a 5-8 year garauntee, and the materials he used were excellent. I have a lot of water and ice damage b/c the sellers used cheap material whenever there is a flat surface or small incline, you have to use the heavy duty thick water barrier which is costlier, but worth it. He knew which materials we needed that would solve our annual ice barrier meling problems. He replaced the 2 rotted wood panels at no cost. He was the lowest, reasonal, reliable, and realistic. Im so glad of all the great reviews which somewhat steered me to him, but its very helpful that so many people have the same opinion/experience. He is personable. His crew were punctual. Although I was missing a potted mum plant (not sure if it was damaged and noone wanted to tell me), found a few brand new nails bunched up together and a few clear plastic wrappings all over the yard, but not enough to warrent a call to the vendor.

We are in the process of selling our home, and the buyer's home inspector claims to have found a few loose shingles for a roof that he replaced two years ago (quite frankly, my husband and I are a little dubious that this was even the case). I called Mike to see if he could take a look and repair whatever needed to be done in order to satisfy the buyers. He returned my call in less than an hour and sent his associate out the next day to inspect the roof. He also agreed to allow us to transfer the remaining 8 years of the 10 year roof warranty to the buyers of our house so that they will have peace of mind. If we were staying in the area, we would definitely use Viola Roofing again based on the high quality of workmanship, competitive price, and responsiveness, and I have recommended them to many of my friends and neighbors.

Viola arrived at about seven o'clock in the morning on Saturday, August 3. The crew of about 10 men began work at about 7:30 a.m. and finished, believe it or not, at 2:30 p.m, just 7 hours. My house is about 25 feet on the side, a hip roof colonial, so that the actual shape of the roof is a four sided pyramid. In addition there are two small gables. There were two layers of old roof, which they had to remove. They also put in about 16 soffit vents around the perimeter of my roof, put three vents at the peak of my roof in the center, put in a ridge vent along the top of one of the gables and completely cleaned the area. All of this was done in seven hours. It was extraordinary. I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat. I'm writing this review in the first week of December, so I have had plenty of time to check for leaks; there have been none; the work seems to be perfect. So I give Viola, an unqualified, enthusiastic recommendation.

From estimate to clean-up, went like clock work. Owner and crew pleasure to deal with. Roof looks great. Great value.

We were so hesitant to hire a contractor after several really bad experiences. Viola was amazing! Mike responded promptly to my request for an estimate. His price was fair - another estimate came in almost $10,000 over his. The crew showed up and worked long and hard. It was a pleasure working with and dealing with everyone at Viola Roofing. Our roof looks incredible. We could not be happier. The crew was respectful of our property. They cleaned up everything in the yard despite the fact it was raining and dark. I would not hesitate to recommend Viola Roofing. We are pricing out another job with them for the spring. This was a lot of money for us and we feel like we got our money's worth with Viola Roofing. It was a pleasure working with Mike Viola. I got quotes from a bunch of the top rated companies on Angie's List, and Mike's quote was the most comprehensive for the best price. He and his foreman were outstanding, directing the rest of the team efficiently and professionally. I am very particular when it comes to the final product, and Mike and his team took every issue I had seriously and went above-and-beyond to ensure that my needs were met. Mike personally came out a number of times and was "hands-on" in ensuring that the job was well done and all loose ends were tied up. I strongly recommend his services.

Removed THREE leaky skylights and repaired roof.

Everyone showed up when scheduled, with the proper tools, materials and manpower. Worked h****** roof, cut the skylights, cleaned up after themselves and were gone in one day. Industrious and self directed. A second crew finished up the skylights inside, also professional and skilled. Great job all the way around, with every player doing their part. A great looking new roof and skylights that are excellent.

Mike was the first to respond to my request. He visited my home while I was away for the measure and while he was there he saw that I had a few shingles missing and was down to bare wood. He took it upon himself to do the right thing and made a quick repair. I ultimately went with another contractor both because I had seen their work next door and their price, but I would engage Viola Contracting again in a second.

I really liked working w/ Mike V. He kept his word and stuck to the price and project. He understood my time constraints (I had to leave the country for vacation) and he delivered. The guys who did the roof were up early in the morning and gone by late PM. Thank you for an excellent job! When it comes to price for the project, I gotta say that Mike is a true capitalist and knows the market and competition.

This was our first experience with Angie's List. We took an $11,000 gamble, choosing a contractor based solely on the reviews provided by The List, and we're very, very pleased that we did. Mike Viola was easy to work with and was very flexible regarding special requests. The crew arrived before the time set and began work exactly on time. They were professional and worked diligently the entire day. The job was completed in one day - for which we were extremely grateful. The crew cleaned up the entire area, including using a magnetic roller to pick up any stray nails. The project went smoothly from start to finish. We offer our highest recommendation (and if we understood that whole Super Service Award thing we would probably nominate him!).

They are busy guys. We would have liked the job done a bit sooner, but they were basically in line with their estimated date. We would have like to meet Mike during the job but never got a chance. They were very quick in and out. So far it looks good and we are happy with the work. We would recommend the company and use again.

They did an assessment pretty quickly after I contacted them and gave me a bid within 24 hours. When I selected them for the job they gave me about 30 hours notice. They showed up on time and used the materials we agreed on but the person who did the assessment wasn't here during the actual job. I spoke with the Foreman at the beginning of the job letting him know I wanted to inspect the work before they left. My husband was in the house while they worked. When I returned just 3.5 hours later they had already gone and had never given my husband or myself a chance to look at the job or even tell us they were leaving. They didn't even ask for the balance due. I was disappointed because I didn't realize that the woodwork under the roof would look so bad and would have gladly negotiated with the Foreman onsite to have it painted or replaced. Now I have to do that work myself or pay $$ to have someone else do this. I was contacted by Mike within a day who inspected the roof and said it was fine. He had me mail the balance. I told him about my concerns but he kept saying he followed the specs. Nonetheless, I was still very disappointed in how it looked due to the woodwork immediately surrounding the roof and their lack of flexibility. The roof work was done well and met the specs we had in writing but I really disliked the lack of communication with us in completing this job. My husband and I went to great lengths to take time off from work to be here, too. Money is tight and it was a huge decision for us to even get this job assigned.

Mike and the company were always on time, would show up when asked, arrived on time and was very responsive. They completed the job on time and cleaned up afterwards. I was impressed with their professionalism and the quality of their work.

The contractor arrived on time and he worked in a vary organized manner. The workers had the existing roof removed by noontime and they began to roof immediately. The workers seemed to have a very good sense as to what they were supposed to do. Originally the cedar siding was supposed to be just patched as necessary . The superintendent determined it would be more efficient if the small amount of cedar siding was replaced with new. This was done at no additional cost to me. The roofing went well and as a former inspector I have never seen better flashing work done. When the roofing was completed the owner, Mike Viola , reviewed the entire job and was prepared to do any last minute corrections prior to requesting the final payment. I was very satisfied with the work.
