I have used Galley Painting for the last 10 years in 2 residences. I met Ed during a major renovation in Boston in 2004. His painting is flawless, from set up to clean up. His advice, suggestion, and input into color and materials is spot on. For example, Ed quickly solved some recurring problems with moisture in my new master bath in my second home after the builder's painter could not. He also suggested a change in the paint color, which made a tremendous difference in the room. Ed always shows up at the time we plan and doesn't stop until the job is finished perfectly. I'm informed of everything as it in in process and is exactly what I want. Ed always goes above and beyond - he introduced me to a new interior designer who I hired and love. He and his brother, Dan, are a pleasure to have around (my kids even adore them) - I look forward to working with them again and again. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Extensive painting (interior and exterior), wallpaper prep, measuring for window treatments, furniture assembly, exterior power washing, gutter cleaning.

Ed returned this week to paint my office. I love it! He has a wonderful eye for color, and suggested an entirely different color scheme based on the size of and lighting in the room. It's so much better than I could have imagined. I should also mention that not a speck of dust remained when he left today. The only downside here is that I now want to redo the whole house!!! For any of you looking for an honest, reliable, reasonably priced, detail-oriented worker, this guy is a real find!
Description of Work: The primary reason for my call to Ed Galley was to get an estimate for him to RE-PAINT a room previously painted (horribly) by another painter ( prior to my finding Ed ). When Ed arrived I asked if he would take a look at my sump pump. I expained to him that altho' it would "kick on" occasionally, I had been spending hours in the basement sweeping water toward the pump. I was literally sick ( and very sore), and was anxious to have the pump repaired or replaced. Ed wasn't in the basement 2 minutes when he yelled up to me to go downstairs. He had noticed that something wasn't right with my furnace, and upon closer scrutiny realized I had carbon monoxide leaking from the furnace. ( Ed is also a medic which is why, fortunately, he knew to look for the CO leak). He immediately left for Home Depot and returned with all new piping AND 3 carbon monoxide detectors and set to work repairing the furnace. He then installed a new sump pump (old pump was beyond repair), a new dehumidifier, and removed all the wet boxes, etc. to avoid a problem with mold! As he was rearranging/removing things from the basement he happened to notice frayed electrical wires. He opened the electrical box to see that the wires were "arcing" (?), meaning sparks were shooting from the wires. He called his electrician to come ASAP. The electrician said it was "a miracle the house hadn't burned to the ground". Ed stayed with the electrician until the work was complete. I have done my best to recall everything that transpired that day to point out Ed Galley's attention to detail. Every one of us has at least one nightmare story of workers doing a poor job, leaving the work site in deplorable condition, or never showing up at all. We've all met the "Professional" who arrives to deliver an impressive sales pitch and become our new best friend as we write a check for the Deposit. We don't see our new friend until the next payment is due! Ed Galley sets a date to start a job and Ed Galley shows up every day until the job is finished... TO YOUR SATISFACTION. We never discussed the painting that day.... he had already put in 9 hours!!!

Ed called approx. 1 wk. prior to starting job, as he said he would when we met to get estimate. He arrived early on the start date and virtually never stopped working for 5 days. I have NEVER seen men work as tirelessly and professionally as Ed and his brother, Dan (at least since the days of and quot; Leave It To Beaverand quot;!). Ed discovered rot in a number of places (to be expected in an old house). He pointed the areas out to me, explained what should be done, what materials would be used, etc. He encountered a few other and quot;surprisesand quot; while working, explained the problems in detail and asked me to decide if I wished to have those issues addressed. It was very hot while this work was being done, yet Ed, Dan, and Duncan (a very pleasant assistant) were always very pleasant, professional, and focused on the job at hand. I should mention that just prior to their arrival some landscaping had been done, and I voiced concern about new bushes, etc. Not a leaf was disturbed!MANY neighbors have stopped to comment on how lovely my house looks. I would HIGHLY recommend Galley Painting without reservation!! Also, Ed's work is not limited to carpentry and painting. He seems to do just about everything WELL!
