Mike Lulu Plumbing & Heating

My bathroom sink and tub were suddenly out of service after a drain cleaning service punched a hole in the drainpipe with its snake. Mike came out on short notice, did a thorough inspection of the pipe's condition (not just the recent damage), and clearly explained to me the options and costs for repair and renovation. This was a 70-year-old lead pipe with a failing drum trap, so it made sense to renovate since the kitchen ceiling was already open. It was a somewhat challenging job since some rerouting was required to replace the drum trap with a p-trap. Mike did an excellent job of replacing the pipe and traps and checked thoroughly for leaks before leaving. I had my bathroom back in 1 day. While I probably could have paid a bit less if I'd had the time to shop around, I was very satisfied with the work and felt I received good value for the price paid.

Mike was prompt, efficient and cleaned up the bathroom after the service.

He was great on every aspect. He was just unbelievable. They did everything in a timely fashion, and it was such a professional work. It was a perfect work.

I was extremely pleased with the service provided. He was professional and courteous. He gave good advice as to which toile to purchase. He was careful in the home to not make a mess while working. He mad sure the job was done correctly even though it took a bit longer. Everything was cleaned up when finished. It was a good experience.

I would never, never use him again

The shower drain pipe was replaced within the time Mike had estimated and within the estimated cost. The worksite was kept clean and orderly during the work.

I meant to write this review a long time ago, but completely forgot. Mike arrived on time and performed the work for the price as indicated. It did take him longer than he anticipated, as it appeared he had not performed this type of job in a while. It has been 2 years and his work was excellent and I have no problems with the water heater or the plumbing job that he did to replace the previous one and the hot water heater works fine. I had called a few other plumbers at the time whose prices were anywhere from a few hundred to almost a thousand dollars more expensive. They would quote me prices for the hot water tank alone that was several hundred more than it cost, as I had already researched how much the tank was. I have found some of these plumbers/electricians do not want to leave their house unless they clear $1000 for the job. I have had experiences in the past where I get a quote for "the better part of a day" of work and they are done in 4. When they say "half a day" it means 1-2 hours. They do not want you to do the math beforehand and figure out that they are going to pay themselves $500-$600/hour. If the hot water tank is $1200 then I think it is reasonable to pay $200-300 for a couple of hours of work...especially if they are by themselves. This is what Mike charged me because he already knew that I had several other quotes and that I was not going to be led to believe that it was going to take him all day to install a water heater. Mike also removed my other water heater included in the price, which a lot of the other quotes I received from some other local guys did not include or it was extra or one even told me he flat out doesn't take them. I did not even call anyone back who was not going to remove the old hot water tank as part of the service. I would recommend Mike without reservation to replace a hot water heater.

It went great. Mike showed up as promised, right on time, explained the work, finished in a quick and efficient manner, and even stopped back a few days later to re-fix something that I screwed up after the fact!

The service call went as about as perfectly as any call can. We phoned Mike with a concern about no heat in our family room and our belief that it was caused by a frozen pipe and left a message. Within about 30 minutes he phoned back. Within an hour of the call back he was at the house and started the search for the problem. He promptly determined it was not caused by a problem with the gas boiler and then found and thawed and insulated the frozen pipe. I think he was here about 90 minutes, as he stayed a bit to make sure the cold pipe turned hot again. He also gave us other tips on how to prevent another freeze-up in this wicked-cold weather we've been having here. Like I said - about as perfectly as any service call can go. And reasonably priced - especially since it was an emergency call.

Back in the spring of 2013 we noticed a problem with a 20+ year old gas boiler in our house. We found Mike on Angie's List and he came over and took a look. He determined part of the burner was corroded (flames were shooting out) and suggested we replace the unit and gave us a price. We shut it down and called in 2 other heating contractors to confirm the diagnosis - and get estimates for replacement. We chose Mike because in the process we explained that the original boiler never fully heated the house on the coldest days of the winter. We told the other contractors the same thing, but only Mike took the time to conduct a full and thorough heat loss estimate on the house and suggest a different size boiler, slightly larger than the original boiler, which we had long suspected was too small. As it was the start of summer, we asked Mike to put off the work until fall. He agreed. and when we phoned him in Sept - he fit us into his schedule was and at the house within a few weeks for the project. It took about a week to uninstall the old boiler, install the new boiler and other pieces of the new, replaced boiler system, install some new, additional baseboard in the coldest room of the house, and do some other plumbing involving a water filter (which we decided to have done at the spur of the moment since he was in the house). The whole project was on time and on budget. Best of all the house is fully warm this winter for the first time in all the years we've lived here. Thank you, thank you. Later we had him back to fix a frozen pipe. You will find that review on this website too.

He never returned my call!! If you can't return a call, no matter how small the job may seem, then you weren't worth calling in the first place.

I Mike Lulu called me today and apologized for not getting back to me. I really appreciated that he called me and would definitely call him for plumbing service in the future. Mike was an absolute professional and very kind. I would recommend him the future.

talked to mike on friday and told by mike he would be by monday or tuesday to review the job never heard from him again

Our washing machine has been broken for over a month after waiting for a tech, ordering parts and waiting for the tech to come out, it was fixed today. During the test we saw leaking again, it was the hot and cold water, both valves were corroded and were gushing as soon as the valve was opened. I called MIke Lulu Plumbing and MIke picked up, I told him what the problem was and what I needed (replace both valves). He gave me a cost and time estimate over the phone and said that he can have one of his guys out within an hour an half. If not he would come out himself. An hour later Mike came to the door and completed the job. Less time than he quoted and for a lower cost than quoted. MIke was very professional and his work is top notch, He used ball valves instead of gate valves. I have some upcoming projects, I will not hesitate to call Mike Lulu again.

Mike responded to our call and quickly made himself available. He diagnosed the problems, ran out for special parts, and completed the repairs in less than two hours. He was kind, courteous, and respectful. We will definitely use him again!

There was a slight tear in the seal of our commode. We had Mike come in. As he cleared away the seal - he discovered that much of the floor had rotted away. He ripped out the floor in the bathroom. He leveled it - built up floor beams then installed a new floor He then reset the toilet and expertly tiled the floor - It was amazing work - Oh yes, he also replaced part of the blue board in the bathroom which had water damage. Too boot, he also fixed a leak in our shower that a number of previous plumbers had not been able to fix. He's honest - extremely gifted as his craft - it was amazing really - The place was completely picked up - It was a real pleasure to have that level of professionalism, excellence and earnestness complete a very tricky job. You also couldn't beat the price - you'd have needed 2 contractors to complete it properly and he managed it by himself.

Installed replacement Fixtures

We were extremely pleased with Mike Lulu's work. The job entailed totally gutting to the studs the main bathroom of a 80 year old home, replacing walls(lathe and plaster), ceiling, floor (ceramic tile set in 2 inches of concrete) and fixtures. Mike and his subcontractors took great pride in their work, paid considerable attention to detail and went out of their way to ensure that we were aware of potential problems and their progress. Because of the age of the home there were some unanticipated problems (very weak sub-flooring, walls not square. The demolition work on the job was extensive. Floors leading from the bathroom, down the stairs and through the downstairs kitchen were covered with tarps to protect the floors, and the bathroom and surrounding areas were vacuumed/swept after work each day keeping dust to a minimum. Their workmanship was extremely good, Mike and his subs were quite friendly and respectful of our privacy, and the price of the job (not the highest or lowest of bids we received) seemed quite fair. We would highly recommend Mike Lulu and certainly intend to seek his services again.

My old 80 gallon electric water heater was leaking, but not catastrophically, at a house I maintain for my elderly in-laws. On Monday morning, Mike Lulu answered the phone himself, we discussed the job; I asked for a 50 gallon replacement, and he could fit the job in on Wednesday. Mike was upfront that the job would need 2 workers due to the weight of the old unit. Mike offered to reduce the price of the job by leaving the old water heater on site for later disposal by a third party. However, I wanted the job done and over, to minimize inconvenience to my in-laws. Mike and his assistant moved the electric dryer out of the way, drained and removed the old water heater, installed the new one, and moved some copper pipes so they would be secured on the joists. They installed a ball valve on the water heater supply. They re-installed the electric dryer. They dollied out and disposed of the old unit. The new unit was a Bradford White Jetglas brand. They were on site for about 3 hours. Job turned out professionally done, and Mike & his assistant were very personable with my father-in-law. I chose Mike because he was close by geographically, had good Angie's list ratings, and fit the job in promptly. It did cost a bit more to have Mike get rid of the old unit versus finding a local trash/salvage service, but it was well worth it to have the job done in 3 hours and keep the in-laws happy.
