Horrible!! Immediately after installation, there were issues with getting the water heater working again after a power failure. We called Jim to have him come out to relight the water heater on several occasions. After consistently having issues with this relighting, and having to always call Jim to get it relit, Jim apparently got tired of fixing his own mistake and stopped returning our calls and stopped showing up for service appointments, leaving us no choice but to find another plumber. On February 15, 2010, again having an issue with the getting the pilot on the water heater to re-ignite after a power failure, we paid (despite having a warranty) $465 to another plumber to repair, what they called, incorrect wiring issues on the water heater. On March 1, 2010, we paid another plumber $210 to again repair issues with the water heater due to it not wanting to relight after a power-failure. On June 17, 2010, we paid an additional $825 to replace the power vent because the pilot on the water heater again, would not stay lit. On August 9, 2012, we again had the same exact issue. At this point, I was fed up and decided to track down Jim. I was able to reach him and I explained to him that I was upset with him for blowing us off and for installing a faulty system in our home & I wanted it replaced under the warranty. He claimed he could not replace it because the manufacturer no longer supports our particular product, despite the warranty, but he agreed to come over and see what he could do with it. Jim came to our house on Friday, August 10, 2012 to look at the water heater. He took two safety switches from the water heater claiming this was the problem (despite the fact that we already paid to have those replaced once already.) He said he needed to go to the supply warehouse to get replacement parts and he would be back either that Friday afternoon, or on Monday. I should note, that we have a 5 year old child and an infant in our home, which Jim is well aware of. We never heard back from him again. We called him on August 13th, twice on August 15th, and again on August 21st. Each time we called him, he either ignored our call, or said he was waiting for the part to come in. We never heard back from him about the part. Operating the gas water heater by bypassing the safety feature, with a small child and an infant in the home was obviously not something we were comfortable with. We tried calling several plumbers in our area to once again pay to get it started, but we were turned away as each of the plumbers said that that system Jim installed in our home is outdated & dangerous and none of them wanted to touch it. Having no choice in the matter, we had to replace the system. We then had to pay $920.59 for a new water heater plus over $300 in labor costs to replace it. Upon replacing the water heater, we had learned that the problem with it was that the water heater was NEVER intended to be used as a power-vented water heater. Rather, Jim manipulated it to work as such. We filed a complaint with the BBB, which Jim ignored as well. Needless to say, I would NOT pay this man to do any work in your home! Also, I should note that the zip code on his website is wrong, and his primary phone doesn't even work. We reached him using the cell number listed on his webpage.
Description of Work: On August 16, 2006, we hired Jim O’Reilly, owner of, O'Reilly Plumbing to replace our power-vented gas water heater in our Single-Family home and we paid extra for the 10-year warranty for $750. On August 10, 2012, and several years of being blown-off by Jim, we finally reached him using a blocked phone number and we had him come out again to address on-going issues we had experienced from the moment of installation with the water heater. Due to issues with his services, we paid $750 originally for the install, $1500 in repairs, and eventually $1200 to replace it (which I should note, with the replacement installed by another plumber, we haven't had one single issue with it!)
