The first time we called and left a message, there was no response. I called a second time two weeks later and got a live body. I was then told that we get 60 calls a day and most of them are not serious. Since I called twice I am obviously serious, so if I call again ie three times then they will come and estimate and do the job. Why is this guy even on the list? If he is too busy he could have said so. My recommendation is don't waste your time. I contacted another contractor who will give me a quote in the next four days.

Joe did a great job. It looks perfect, neat and clean. As promised, he filled in the cavity with soil, and manicured the area so it looked better than when he started! Plus, he's a nice guy. I appreciated his willingness to do a small job, and his flexibility to accommodate a Saturday request. He said he particularly values his Angie's List customers. Highly recommend!

Joe came promptly after we spoke. Job was done the next morning as expected. Work was professional. I will keep his number for the next time our driveway requires seal-coating.

Although my wife and I later canceled the work due to issues unrelated to Primo Paving, I would gladly use Primo when we proceed later with this job. First, Mr. Primo came out to the house the day after my phone call and precisely at the scheduled time. I felt completely at ease; Mr. Primo spent the good part of an hour educating me on my options, listening, and making useful suggestions. He is very personable, friendly, and straightforward. My impression was that Mr. Primo truly takes pride in his work and wishes to please his customers. In fact, he insisted that no payment be made until the job was completed and I was happy with the job. I thought Primo's estimate was a tad on the high side but not unreasonable. My experience with Primo Paving overall was entirely positive.

Joe came out to our house and surveyed the job, he provided a thorough description of the process and an estimate with a timetable for the work. We called him a week later after receiving three other quotes. While all the quotes were comparable we felt that Joe was the most professional and well equipped in terms of machinery and experience to do an excellent job. Joe came out the morning the job started as promised reviewed details and started working immediately. He and his crew worked for four days and each day took care to pay attention to details such as not ruining the landscaping, trimming plants that were going to interfere with the paving and checking in with me to make sure I was satisfied. Each evening, our driveway was clear of debris, tools and was tidied up. I also changed my mind on a few details and Joe happily made adjustments. Our driveway is beautiful, the blacktop is even, smooth and properly graded to ensure no water build-up and I am thrilled.

I called on a Wednesday morning and he was at my house in Salem, MA within the hour to look at the job. He measured the area, inspected the grade and quoted me a price, and even quoted me prices for brick and other options. His quote was reasonable, and he started the next morning. His crew arrived on time and never stopped working, they worked neatly and safely and Joe himself never stopped moving and paid attention to every detail. The driveway looks fantastic, even better than he promised. The large pools of water and mud puddles that we have lived with for years are gone and the water runs to the street in a steady stream as he said it would, AND he left the property spotless. The work on the steps turned out to be more than he anticipated, but he kept his word and finished the job at the quoted price and it looks amazing! Honestly,I have had a lot of contractors perform work on my house recently and Joe was the only one that exceeded my rather high expectations.

This was a job I had been putting off for a long time. Joe made everything seem very simple. I'm very happy with results. Many contractors treat women as though they have an IQ slightly higher than a turnip. Joe was a delight to work with. Prompt, personable. Owner was present at all times. Saw some existing damage to foundation that will be repaired in near future.

We didn't end up hiring Joe, for all the reasons above.

Showed up on time. Got the job done efficiently and quickly. Were very pleasant and open to suggestions.

Ten minutes after I spoke with him, he showed up with a truck, told me the price, said he could do it right then and there. Within about 1/2 hour after I'd made the initial call, the job was done. In addition, Joe gave me a detailed receipt I could use in order to file a complaint with the shingle delivery service. This was great service. I'd definitely recommend Primo based on this experience and I plan to use them again when/if we have future paving projects.

Very responsive. Excellent job. It was a couple of days before we could get on his schedule for an estimate, and several weeks before the work got done, but he always returned our calls and answered our questions promptly (and honestly, if someone can start a job tomorrow, I want to know why they aren't busy with other jobs...) The job itself took two days, and we're thrilled with the result - the patio in particular. We have a couple of fairly fragile plantings in and around the space, and they did a great job of protecting them. They kept the job site super clean, and even put down grass seed around the edge of the patio where some dirt got dug up. Joe was very knowledgeable and very easy to talk to.

I had hired Primo to seal my driveway and do some concrete repair (this project went so-so; I have written a separate report under driveway-asphalt about it), and, while he was there, I asked for his suggestions about poor drainage on the patio in the back of my house. Joe offered several ideas; we finally decided to replace the patio and the drain (to a drywell) in the middle. Joe got to the job in a couple of days. The bricks he selected, the pattern of laying the brick, and the quality of workmanship left us with a beautiful patio. Although only time will tell, after one rainstorm, the patio seemed to be draining well too. One thing I would mention: Many of those working on the patio project were wearing another companies uniforms. I'm not sure if Primo subcontracts with them or he owns the company. Regardless they did a good job.

This project went so-so. (The project to build a new stone patio in the back of our house by Primo went much better. I have written a separate report under "masonry" about this.) It took three calls and the mention of Angie's List on the last call to get Joe to come out. He offered a number of suggestions at different price points for dealing with the drainage problem which I liked. The driveway was sealed well, although several larger cracks were not filled in as promised before the sealing. The concrete repairs were done, although several small cracks have now appeared in these. The addition of stone to promote drainage, which took a much bigger chunk of my lawn than I was led to believe, did not work. The stones were piled so high that the driveway ended up more flooded than before. I had to take out a shovel in the middle of a storm to level the height of the stones with the driveway. Given that this part of the project cost $800, it was disappointing.

They are both really smart, to the point, and they absolutely do not fool around. Other companies I called wanted a lot of money for drawings (I did not need drawings) or wanted me to spend a lot of time going to help pick out the plants at nurseries--I have seven teen-aged children and wanted adults who could do the job right and in a straightforward manner. It took us very little time to put a plan in place; we had rain for two days; three days later we were a family with not only on nice rehabbed Victorian cottage but a beautiful old-fashioned garden and lawn to set it off! Primo gets A Plus from everyone-see listing!

I called Joe back in Feb for an estimate. He came out on a Saturday and spent at least an hour with me listening to my concerns. He offered many good suggestions, and prices. Over time I was struggling with the vision and twice he came back out and listened again and offering assurance that he could perform to my satisfaction. I had a designer create a drawing that I showed to him and the other three contractors, so I knew we were all talking about the same thing. Joe told me he used Ideal Block, so I requested a catalog from them and used that to show to the others, again, so we were all on the same page. Joe's estimate was the best of all, and he said I didn't have to pay him anything until I was satisfied with the job. Who does that? The only suggestion I have is to have a pen and paper with you whenever you are talking to a contractor and write down all casual talk of pricing. We had to come to an agreement regarding the lawn removal as it wasn't part of his written estimate.

Overall it went very well!! It was extremely refreshing to deal with an honest contractor that does what he says when he says it and with courteous service. Joe also was extremely responsive returning all my calls promptly and with solutions to each issue I had. I would highly recommend Primo Paving to anyone!

The experience went extremely well. Rich and his group are very professional. We reviewed the bushes he planned on planting and we discussed what made the most sense as far as sod vs. hydro-seed. They showed up when they said they would and performed the job exactly as planned. It was a huge success and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for landscaping!!

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING SERVICE. I emailed Primo Paving at the address listed on Angie's List to ask if they could provide a quote. I didn't hear back from my inquiry so after a couple of days I called and spoke to Joe Primo who said he'd seen my email and a lady from his office would call me to arrange a time for them to come over and provide a quote. No-one called back and I never got a response to my email. Very poor customer service. I would not recommend them.

Primo Paving returned our call, said they would be back in touch with a time for someone to come out to check on the job. Days went by and nothing. They finally called again and asked if someone had come to our home. When I told her no, she said they would be in touch with us in a day or two. That was 5 days ago. For a grade A Company on Angie's list, I give them an F. We are going with another company from Angie's list.

Primo Paving was very responsive, and came out within a day of calling them, right on time. They provided a quote which was pretty high for the driveway paving job - about double what others quoted. Other than price, though, they were very responsive, and I encourage others to call them...though I think it'd be good to compare prices.

As it ended up, I went with two other companies that did excellent and prompt work.

He expertly moved heavy equipment down narrow driveway, did additional work from original bid with no charge, cleaned area perfectly, and was in and out in only a few hours. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Because of my experience with Joe, I may use him to install the new patio as well.

Immediately after my initial call, Joe arranged a convenient time to meet with me and discuss the job. Shortly after, I received a detailed estimate and proposal for the job in writing. Before hiring Joe, I raised concerns I had with working so close to my neighbor s house. Joe took the time to help me understand the process and all of the equipment that they would use. The day of the job he and his crew were extremely professional as they spent the early part of the day carefully dismantling the structure. After lunch, which Joe provided for his crew (and me as well!), they loaded the debris in the truck and meticulously broom swept the area to my satisfaction. The yard looked great when they were done. I was also impressed that Joe made an extra trip to the dump to keep his promise of having the job done within a day. In the end I was more than happy to write out a check to Primo Paving and I have plans to do so again when I redo my driveway.
