The price was good. They were very responsive. They gave me a date and they couldn't fulfill the original date but they were really busy. They told me that they were going to have it ready in four weeks and then it turned out to be eight weeks. If they're busy, you should expect that they will take longer. I wasn't real happy with that but the work that they did and the price for the quality was excellent. I would use them again but I would be aware of the time frame. They might not be able to meet my time frame. If I needed to have something done ASAP, they wouldn't be the people I call.

Everything was done to my satisfaction. They totally transformed it to my specifications. Looks great! I've had many compliments on the style and workmanship.

The workmanship on my three chairs was FANTASTIC! However, the items were completed 5-7 days later than promised. Impressed with the work done, I rehired them to repair a small table's leg and to re-attach a desktop to its frame. This was done well. Upon asking Mr. Hicks for the receipt for the latter job, he stated that he didn't have it but would get it to me later. I informed him that I had three additional pieces of furniture I would like to have him build. After three weeks of trying to contact him concerning the receipt and the three new pieces and receiving absolutely no response, I gave up. Though his quality of work is exceptional, his reliability leaves a bit to be desired. I will not hire him again.

A con artist. Said he was going to recover my chair. Instead he and quot;replacedand quot; the chair with a cheap version of a new chair. The items he did recover were cheap and padding was terrible. Some items never delivered after refusing to take my calls. STAY AWAY!!

I called Mr. Hicks based on prior reviews on Angie's list. He was prompt in coming to the house with samples and patient while we decided on the fabric to use. He did the work on the schedule he promised, which was important, since I needed the chairs done before a family reunion I was hosting. Mr. Hicks was professional in his dealings with me.
The problems I have with his work are:
- the padding in the chairs is insufficient. In the arms, the profile dips down below where the top of the arm should be because insufficient padding was used. In addition, the seat itself is too low and not as firm as it was before his work. I wanted it better after the reuphostering, not softer and lower!
- Mr. Hicks charged me extra for bolster pillows and arm protections and he never delivered them. I called to follow up and never heard back from him. Almost a year later and I still don't have them.
- I thought his prices were very high - I would have been happy to pay it, if it had been the quality it should have been and if I had received all of the material for the job.
I would not use him again.

I called David Hicks after reading positive reviews on Angie's List. I had already called some other upholstery shops for estimates and David's price was very reasonable, especially because they offer free pick-up and delivery. David requires a 50% deposit which I sent in the mail. He wasn't quite sure how long the wait-list would be, but when I called about a week later he had a firm date.
The only thing that could be problematic for some people is scheduling a pick-up and delivery time. David gave me a time window and called me when he was about 15 or 20 minutes away. Fortunately my work is very flexible and I could leave and meet him.
To my pleasant surprise David called me TWO DAYS later and said my sectional was complete. That's really quick for a full size sectional (basically two straight couches that butt up against each other)! A couple of coils were repaired and ScotchGard was applied so my final cost ended up being a little higher than the estimate, but still less than what some other places had quoted.
I'm very pleased with the quality of work. My couch is now as good as new!

We called Hicks Upholstery to get an estimate on recovering my 40-year-old LazyBoy recliner in leather and replacing all the foam and padding. While he was here, we mentioned that we were also interested in having our couch recovered. He then gave us a very reasonable estimate on recovering both. We also decided to have Mr Hicks make 2 ottomans covered in the same leather. He was very prompt with his work. We were very satisified with the work on the LazyBoy recliner and couch, but not as satisified with the ottomans, as they did not match in their construction. When we complained about the ottomans, Mr Hicks redid them at no additional charge. We are now very happy with all Mr Hicks' work. He was prompt with his work, he actually got the work done sooner than promised! He guarantees satisfaction and backs it up. The hardest part of the whole experience was selecting the exact leather we wanted. He had 3 or 4 sample books, but after he observed what we seemed to be interested in, he helped us decide exactly what we wanted. I highly recommend him for all your re-upholstery work.

This time they went beyond what was asked for and created a beautiful pillow from a small piece of fabric that I provided. The chair is beautiful and the accent pillow which they created at no cost is really perfect. I am very happy with the result.

Everything went well, could not be happier. From starting with only new wood for seats/seat backs and seat frames to the now finished product everything turned out as it was presented. Am very happy with results. Extremely confident to recommend this company. Exceeded my expectations.
