Once I explained the situation to the people at Humana, they were very helpful. It did take some effort on my part to provide information from the doctor and hospital in Pennsylvania. However, I appreciate that I did not have to tell my story to a bunch of different people. I was assigned one representative and she worked with me until the matter was resolved. They did end up covering the costs. I was pleased with the service.
Description of Work: Humana is our health insurance provider. My 19 month old son was traveling with me out of state and needed emergency care. Since we were out of network, Humana would not initially cover the charges. I was working with them and the hospital in Pennsylvania to see if they would reconsider.

It has been fine. With each of my visits I receive an explanation of benefits which I then can use to use toward my HSA. I have called Humana for a question about a price related to a service that I didn't think I actually had performed, they contacted the office and hashed out the correct billing codes. I continue to use them.
Description of Work: I started on new insurance in a Humana PPO at a new job.

I was on the automated phone system for a very long time. Finally, a person came on the phone and while she was researching the answer the telephone disconnected. I called again and was on the automated system for a very long time. Again, I did not get a clear answer from the customer service person. This time I asked the service person to take my phone number should we be disconnected and she said they are unable to call back. It is difficult to speak to a human being at Humana. I read through their coverage booklet and again nothing is clear. I feel like I was "blocked" from coverage information rather than assisted with a service plan that is PAID FOR.
Description of Work: My son is on SSD and this is the insurance coverage provided for 2013. One of his medications require special approval. I called customer service to find out how best to request coverage on this medication.
