We bought our home, which was built in 1901, in the summer of 2021. Two months later, our main sewer line started backing up into the basement. We spent the next month going through five different plumbing companies, spending thousands of dollars on all manner of recommended fixes, none of which solved the problem. Eventually, several of these companies told us that the problem was an old house trap that was completely blocked. The estimates to dig it up and replace it ranged from 10-15 thousand dollars. Needless to say, we felt this was a ridiculous amount of money and thought there had to be another solution. We were then put in touch with Tim Thomas. I was told to give Tim a chance because he was an honest guy, and even if he couldn’t fix our problem, he wouldn’t overcharge me if we had to dig up the trap. Tim came out that week and spent almost two hours analyzing the situation. Much to my surprise, he told me that the digging, which all the other companies told me was absolutely the only way to fix our problem, would not be necessary. He said that he could clean the old trap out and get our line flowing to the street. I must admit that I was a little skeptical, but Tim seemed like such and honest and earnest individual, I decided to give him a shot. I figured we had nothing to lose, and it beats the h*** out of 10-15k right? Tim’s solution took several visits, and I don’t want to give away any of his trade secrets but he eventually got the trap open. This is where the plot thickens. Little did we know, but we were actually dealing with two problems. About six months after he got the trap open, the line backed up on us again. Tim came out again, and we discovered that the main line had collapsed under the street. If you haven’t ever gone through this type of situation, then be prepared because convincing SD-1 that there is something wrong on their end of the sewer line is not easy: It takes a Herculean effort of time, patience, and arm-twisting. Because he is such a good person, Tim took it upon himself to get involved and eventually through his knowledge was able to convince SD-1 that the problem was on their end. I cannot understate how difficult it was to convince the SD-1 people to recognize that the problem was under the street, but Tim was able to do it. Sure enough, they confirmed that the sewer line had completely collapsed under the street, and they came out a week later to replace it. We have not had any problems since. None of this would have happened without Tim’s involvement. To say that Tim is an honest businessman would be the understatement of the century. He is the most honest contractor I have ever worked with for any reason, and I have worked with many over the years of home ownership. He will tell you straight up what he can do to fix your problem. Tim’s honesty and integrity are not the only reasons to hire him. He is a true expert, or I would say genius of his trade. The majority of plumbing companies out there today are simply in the business of replacing parts. Much like the mechanics who no longer fix car problems but just replaces old parts with new, these modern plumbing companies want to charge people exorbitant amounts of money to replace sewer lines, etc., partly because they know the customers are ignorant and at their mercy but also because they no longer practice the “art of plumbing.” In contrast, Tim practices the “art of plumbing”, meaning he actually tries to repair or fix the existing plumbing. Tim is a rare commodity in this culture as he still practices a trade that has become a lost art in our culture of quick fixes and fast money. Tim is a one man show, so you must be patient. It took about six months to eventually resolve our problem, but in reality, we were also dealing with two problems, the trap and the collapsed line. If you want a quick fix, call one of these big plumbing companies and let them take you for a ride. You will likely get the quick fix you are looking for, but it might bankrupt you in the process. However, if you are willing to be patient and let Tim work his magic, then he will amaze you while saving you thousands of dollars in the process. I cannot recommend Tim enough, especially if you find yourself in a similar situation. Call Tim Thomas today!

Simply awful. Thomas and Sons was kicked off the job by the building inspector for not having any building permit whatsoever. They ended up not being able to complete the job and sued me for the contract price anyway. The owner, Danny, is a ******* and will not listen to reason. Do not use this company. The building inspector told me that he is in the process of pulling their plumbing permit for good. Be careful.

I've worked on toilets in the past but didn't want to have to do the work myself, I finally ended up having to suggest what I thought the issue was and I was correct. They ended up having to go get a new toilet. I felt like I was trouble shooting for them along the way. I did not think they were very knowledge. They were very polite though and came out very quickly.

He arrived when expected with the equipment necessary to complete the job. He did the work as requested, cleaned up and was on his way.

Their prices were extremely high. Everything else was great. We thought it was an extremely high price for this type of work.

Wonderful experience. The service gentleman arrived right on time. Was dressed in a navy blue uniform with a flag on the sleave. Very impressive first impression. He looked at the ceiling and immediately knew where to enter the ceiling. Pointed out that the builder had used brass COATED nails to secure the water pipes to the stringers. Over time, the coating had worn off the nail and rubbed through the brass pipe. Said the builder cut corners in using these nails, plus the nail had been pounded in too tightly. Quickly replaced a segment of the pipe and solved the problem. I was greatly pleased and would highly recommed Thompson to anyone.

They had no extra charge for weekends or nights, which was great. They were out there promptly and helped me quickly resolve the problem. They were so fast and showed me where the shut off valve was located that they didn't even charge me.
