When Mike came to evaluate the job he was friendly, professional and very thorough. The crew completed the job exactly as described and they hauled away all the limbs and debris. There is now ample clearance, yet the trees still look natural. I will definitely call Beaver's Tree Service when I need work done in the future.
Description of Work: Two 100-year-old trees were encroaching on the standing seam roof and glass cupola on top of my house. It wasn't a simple job and I kept putting off looking for a service provider. After two different people recommended Beaver's Tree Service I finally made the call.

As always, they were punctual, thorough and they cleaned up after themselves very well. Mike is expensive, but his work is excellent. I will always call him for tree service.
Description of Work: Mike and crew cut down a number of large branches hanging over our fence and trimmed up a very large maple tree.

Description of Work: I called and asked if they would do snow removal. I was referred to a person named Trey and called him. He said he would check to see if there was a conflict and would get back with me within an hour. He never got back with me nor picked up when I called his cell number again. Fortunately, I had a brochure from a handyman who had been to our neighborhood a few weeks back. He came and removed the snow and was prompt, professional, reasonably priced and did an excellent job.

Response from BEAVERS TREE & LANDSCAPE CO
This gentleman just flat has the wrong company. First, Beaver's Tree and Landscape does not have, nor has ever had someone named 'Trey' work for the company -much less answer the phone. Second, the Beaver's are a 'downtown area' snow removal company. This gentleman lives on the far east side of town, about 12 miles east of our working area. Third, the 'Beaver's' would not have put someone in a holding pattern. The problem would have been addressed with the initial call. Beaver's Tree and Landscape contacted "Angie's List" 3 separate occasions about this incident. All 3 times, Beaver's was assured that "Angie" would 'investigate/get to the bottom of this', but as of this writing on 4/11/14 -- The Beaver's haven't heard a word back from Angie. Sincerely, The Beaver's

When I talked to Mike on the phone the morning after I had left a message the day before to find someone to do the driveway snow removal, he indicated I would be his second job if he done the work. I said OK. The price would be discussed when he arrived and surveyed the job. After seeing what needed to be done, he said his price would be $120.00 and hour and he should be able to do both drives in approximately 2 hours. (If he had an hourly rate, why wasn't it presented to me on the phone call.) I said OK and the work began. He had arrived at 11:50 am and his co-worker started unloading an begin working while we discussed his pricing. By 2:00 PM they were finished and loaded back up and he was writing out his ticket. He presented his ticket to me for $320.00 or $160.00 for each driveway and I asked if this was for 2 hours work, His response was "Yes, as busy as I was yesterday, the price would have been $200.00 and hour." With the work being done, I paid his bill, and he went on his way. I had no proof of what he had quoted me and felt as if I had to pay his bill. Yes, I should have had him write down his quote as we discussed, so I've learned my lesson. With him, it "BUYER BEWARE" for sure.....Always have a written quote.....
Description of Work: First, the price is for 2 circle driveways. $160.00 ea. My neighbor wanted their driveway done also. Two men, 2 different snow blowers and a small bobcat type machine that you stand up on with a blade approxiamontly 4 feet wide. (He told me on the phone he had a small bobcat, and I didn't know they made them that small.) The two worked together with good communication between each other and did a good job on both driveways. The quality of work is not in question here, but how he handled the pricing.

I disagree with [member name removed]'s description. We had a 13" snow, with drifts. [member name removed] called on the 3rd evening of snow removal at 9:00 p.m. . He stated no one would call him back or take his job, because he was so far out of town. I told [member name removed], he was being placed on an already existing list, and it would be afternoon before we got to him. Up front, [member name removed] was quoted $120 per hour, and that would include 1 way drive time plus setup. When we arrived, we had to climb over 3 1/2'+ snow piles that the county snow plows left at 'both' his driveway entrances. We couldn't even see where the driveway was. [member name removed] described where the driveway was, and we marked the edges with hand shovels to prevent lawn and edging damage. We did his circle driveway of 200'+, and his neighbor's ([name removed]) identical driveway as one time clock and split the drive and setup cost between the two jobs. Before starting, I guessed the cost to be $240 per driveway. [member name removed] said " Do it ". [member name removed], his wife, and neighbor [name removed] watched the entire removal process. [name removed] was elated, and came out 3 or 4 times to tell us of her satisfaction. [member name removed] in particular, sat in a swing, next to the drive, and watched every minute of work on both properties. We even dug out [member name removed]’s 2 vehicles and garage door. After completion of both properties, [member name removed] and I sat and talked for about 10 minutes. He stated how pleased he was, and how careful we had worked. [member name removed] wrote a check on the spot - for both jobs! The weather forecast was warning of another major snowstorm. [member name removed] requested to be put on the future storm work list if the storm hit. The snow did come, but [member name removed] decided not to have his driveway cleared, because he did not need to go anywhere for the next 5 days, and the temperatures were going to rise considerably, melting the snow. Time for both jobs came to 2 2/3 hours, $320 total, $160 per property - not the predicted $240 per property. After this review came out, I called [member name removed]. As near as I can tell, [member name removed] described that his family members that weren't even at the job site, had berated him about the price he paid, and 'Buyer's Remorse' had set in. [member name removed] let a family member write his review for him. [member name removed] is about 90 years old.

The tree Beavers Tree and Landscape installed was an October Glory. It is a maple tree. I have always had trees planted in the fall so I questioned Mike, the owner, about the planting of the tree in the spring with such a dry winter. He said it would be fine. The cost of the tree and to plant it was $900, about three times as much as I had paid with Tree Top Nursery who I have had do 3 trees for me. I went ahead and had it done because that was the last part of the project to complete. In May I asked Mike to come over because the leaves had died off of the tree. He came to look at the tree and said it was fine. He said sometimes a newly planted tree will lose it's leaves. In June I called Mike again and told him the tree was dead. You could easily break off the branches and no new leaves had formed. I asked him to replace the tree. He said the tree had no replacement guarantee. I was floored to know a $900 tree had no replacement guarantee. I have purchased trees from several different nurseries even Lowe's all of which have a one-year replacement guarantee. I told him if I had known that I would not have purchased a tree from him. I submitted a claim to the BBB. Mike's response to the claim was to lie and say my sprinkler system was not working correctly. My sprinkler system was working fine. If not, my other trees and grass would have died, which was not the case. I was appalled that a business owner would lie to the BBB. Now, I will need to remove and replace the tree at my expense.
Description of Work: In March of 2012, I needed several things done to my backyard. I was having a shed installed and needed a pad for that, a tree removed, a new tree added, and sodding put in where the old tree's canopy had killed the grass.

Beaver's Tree and Landscape has been a member of the Better Business Bureau since 1992 - 21 years. We are quite proud of our A+ rating that we have maintained with the BBB through all those years. (Member name removed) took this complaint to BBB arbitration. BBB found that Beaver's made "good faith effort to resolve the complaint, but the customer was not satisfied with the results. At the end of arbitration, Beaver's again received an A+ rating from the BBB. Beaver's worked on (Member's name removed) property from 2/8/12 until 4/7/12. During that period we watched the tree and grass we planted take hold and begin to grow vigorously. There was an overabundance of rain during this period, so all plant life on the property did well. The last check on the tree was on 5/28/12.It had grown 12" +, and was full of leaf. (Member name removed) was never given a guarantee because her automatic irrigation system never worked the entire time we worked on the property. We had to hand water everything we planted until the day we finished the project. (Member name removed) irrigation company came out no less than 5 times while we were on site, and replaced the main control box, several valves, and several broken heads. The last day we spent on the property, the system was still not functioning properly. The problem that killed (Member name removed) tree was neglect. (Member name removed) had the same water faucet that we used to hand water everything, but (Member name removed)didn't even bother to pull a hose out to compensate for her non-working irrigation system.12+ yards of fresh sod also died due to neglect. (Member name removed) doesn't mention this. Lack of water and extreme weather conditions killed (Member name removed) tree. From 6/7/12 until 7/15/12 it didn't rain one drop in Wichita. Also, from 6/23 until7/9/12, there were 17 days of 100+ degree temperatures, 8 of those being at 108. One final note. When comparing, (Member name removed) BBB complaint to her Angie's complaint, (Member name removed) tells two very different stories.

They were all very nice, they knew what they were doing and went about doing their work in short time. I am pleased with their work and would hire Beavers Tree and Landscaping again.
Description of Work: Mike and his crew did a wonderful job removing a small portion of my raised garden and distributing the soil to other places in the yard that needed it. They then shored up the garden with a 2X6 to hold the soil into my raised garden. They then turned the soil and tilled it. They also removed a few volunteer trees and removed and killed some wild vines growing up through my fence. I also had a small section of my lawn that had gone to weed and was also filled with poison ivy and leftover stones from a stone garden from a previous owner . Mike sprayed herbacide on the poison ivy and other weeds and then a week later he and his crew returned and removed all the dead weeds and removed the stones and rocks in the area so I could plant grass.

Although the quality is good and they clean up nicely after each job, the price is just out of range. After three occasions of finding competitive bids much, much lower (by at least 100.00) I just had to change tree services. The lesser priced companies did just as nice a job. If you hire the Beaver, be sure to know how much the job should cost. Get at least another quote from a good company unless you don't care about cost.
