Our Grinder Pump was purchased and installed by Terry Carver (owner) of Plumb Rite. A copy of my email to Terry Carver detailing the plumbing disaster that he caused and the codes he violated is included below. Roger (the Plumber) and Mike were put in the difficult situation of fixing and reconfiguring my Grinder Pump equipment and the associated plumbing. On the night my lower level had fecal matter coming out of the shower floor, toilet and kitchen sink, Roger became a HERO to me and my family. As usual, Roger answered my phone call promptly and after normal work hours (around 7pm) on the evening of my disaster. During the phone call, he suggested a solution to my urgent need and within a matter of a few hours both he and Mike arrived on-site to clean up the feces and diagnose and fix my plumbing disaster, caused by Terry Carver of Plumb Rite. We had already paid Terry Carver in full and over $3,300 to install our plumbing and Grinder Pump. Terry Carver of Plumb Rite violated at least three building codes (712.2, 712.3.4 and 906.5.2) during his improper installation of our Grinder Pump and the associated plumbing, which caused significant back-up resulting in fecal matter in my newly remodeled lower level. We did not want Terry Carver near our plumbing again for obvious reasons! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Terry, (email sent to Terry Carver) The Grinder Pump and plumbing that you installed and were paid for in full has not been working properly, so the lid of the Grinder Pump was taken off today and what was found is unbelievable and unacceptable. You did not install the Grinder Pump according to the manual specifications. You placed the Ejector Pipe approximately two inches from the Sewer Inlet Pipe, which has blocked toilet paper and feces from being able to enter into the Grinder Pump. This build up of blockage has caused us major problems in our basement bathroom and kitchen. We had poop back up into our basement shower, etc.. and significant damage to our basement because of your faulty and improper installation of our Grinder Pump and the associated plumbing that we paid you in full to work properly. You also did not finish the rough in work that we paid you for in full. You stated to us that the rough-in work was completed and you demanded your pay that very day, so we paid you in full. However, after we inspected your work we found that you had tucked kitchen plumbing lines on top of our main HVAC trunk, so that we could not see that they were not connected. In my opinion, you should lose your license for this alone. You also violated three building codes which are detailed below. 1) A check valve is required on the discharge pipe out of the existing sump pump. 2) The Inlet sump pit was blocked by the discharge pipe. You installed both incorrectly. 3) You installed the washer and laundry drainage to interfere directly and constantly with the float on the grinder pump causing in to not function properly or as intended and you did not install an independent vent. I am certain of three things: 1) I will pay Roger the Plumber to fix your the plumbing nightmare that you caused and have peace of mind. 2) You are the worst plumber I have ever used. 3) I will never hire a plumber solely on cost and one recommendation (Plumber's Friend) again.
Description of Work: Our Grinder Pump and the associated plumbing for our lower level finish was purchased and improperly installed by Terry Carver (owner) of Plumb Rite, which we paid him for in full to work properly. It did not work properly, and could not have, due to the way he installed the grinder pump and the associated plumbing. He did not install the Grinder Pump according to the manual specifications or so that it could work properly - at the least. He placed the Ejector Pipe approximately two inches from the Sewer Inlet Pipe, which blocked toilet paper and feces from being able to enter into the Grinder Pump. In addition to this, it has been confirmed that he violated three plumbing building codes on the Grinder Pump install alone. To correct Terry's terrible plumbing work, his improper installation of our Grinder Pump and to clean up the feces then present in our lower level, we had to pay another plumber $1,200.00. Terry Carver was responsible for the complete rough-in work for our lower level finish. He requested full payment after he told us that all of the rough-in work was completed. We paid him in full for the rough-in work. Unfortunately, we found out the next day that the rough-in work was not completed and he had already cashed our check. Sneaky little fella, he tucked our lower level kitchen plumbing lines on top of our main HVAC trunk, so that we could not see that they were not connected. He told us during a later phone call that he intended to come back and connect them. This never happened and we never heard from Terry Carver again. Due to Terry's code violations, it was suggested to us that if we wanted to pass final inspection, that the incomplete rough-in work would be best to be completed by a competent plumber who knew codes. This cost us an additional $275.00. We paid Terry Carver, owner of Plumb Rite, $3,300.00 for a train wreck and the real nightmare of feces in our beautifully, newly finished lower level. A copy of my email to Terry Carver detailing the plumbing disaster that he caused and the codes he violated is included below. Easy to remember, TERRY is TERRIble.

Very well.
Description of Work: I've used this company about three times over the last three years. The first contact included installing a new bathroom faucet. The second time, Terry provided suggestions of how to get warranties and workmanship guarantees from the other companies that had performed the original work. We did not have any work done on the second trip. My third contact was last year for a clogged washer drain. Rather than convincing me that the drain needed a professional plumber and charge for the trip and work, Terry instructed me on what I should buy at the hardware store (InstaFlo) to try on my own to see if it corrected the problem. It worked very well. I appreciate Terry's suggestions to homeowners on how they can fix their own issues and save money. However, as weird as this sounds, sometimes I think he does this to the point that I now wonder if he is really wanting to be that helpful or just doesn't want to be bothered with the work!

Shut off valves were in tight quarters which required removing small area of wood paneling. Replacement of hoses meant sliding under a small sink over a sump pit. Difficult repairs were well done.
Description of Work: water shut off valves and hoses replaced; leaky kitchen faucet repaired
