Ron, the proprietor, made the original visit to scope out the job in July and estimated the job would be completed in two days. His quote on the job was reasonable, and I was impressed with his demeanor and professionalism. The job was scheduled for mid-August. When the work crew finally showed up it consisted of one guy who really appeared to know his stuff and another apprentice who really didn't, but appeared eager to learn. They spent the first day at a repair facility waiting for some truck repairs and didn't bother to phone to let me or their dispatcher know about it. I must say that I was, and still am, pleased with the result. I felt it necessary to nursemaid the 'helper' as he seemed inclined to rather cobble things together. Most of the time I caught it early enough to correct, but I did make him reroute a drain line after he had it anchored in position. The work continued for at least six days, and even after twice, then three times the estimated time, Ron never returned to see why it was taking so long. The range hood vent was just a mistake. I had talked with Ron during his original visit, but he failed to include it on the quote. When I brought it to his attention, I was told he would install the vent for just the cost of materials, if I would open the drywall, take care of any electrical issues, and repair the drywall after the duct was installed. They fabricated a large rectangular duct running from the vent through the floor, but then choked it down to a 3" round flex duct. Asked why the 3" couldn't have run all the way to the vent, I was told that it could have been. The two guys spent nearly two entire days on that vent and left me with a nightmarish repair job since their fabrication left no room to anchor the patch. I finally shut the task down, fearing what they might do to my siding and sill plate. I quickly noticed that the humidifier seemed to be running any time the blower was turned on, rather than just when the thermostat called for heat. In addition, one of the vent lines was dripping water into the interior of the furnace. When I brought this to their attention, Ron and the technician returned, changed some wiring, and patched a hole in the vent. The humidifier now runs only when the burner is running, but the vent line still is dripping, and the humidifier causes water to accumulate in the main duct until it also runs into the interior of the furnace. After several calls to the shop and several responses that Ron will call me back, he still has not. It's my understanding that there have been some health issues in the family, and I've tried to be patient, but Spring is arriving in a couple of weeks and I still am having issues which I brought to their attention last fall. Overall, I'm pleased with the large majority of the work they did for me. It's just the lack of followup that's driving me up the wall. I've put off making the review, hoping I could be more positive, but the lack of followup just taints the whole experience.
