I've reviewed Harris before, but have to again show my appreciation for their fantastic service. I turned my AC on for the first time yesterday - and it quit in the afternoon. I left a voice mail explaining that I was getting ready to leave town for a month on Sunday, but had people staying in my house with my pets. Grant called first thing in the morning, made me the first stop of the day, fixed the problem within an hour, bill was reasonable. I trust the guys at Harris completely. IF the problem had required a major repair or replacement, I would have been sad about it, but with complete confidence in their assessment and work. This is an honest company. And they always treat me with courtesy and with respect for my intelligence.

Harris is superb. Their prices and professionalism are SIGNIFICANTLY better than their large competitor here in Bloomington. After two years of dealing with another company that was consistently rude and expensive, Harris was a welcome change. I highly recommend them.

My wife and I bought our home in B-town ~3 years ago. We have owned our share of older homes in the past. This one was built in the late '70's. When you buy an old house, there is always some WWTT (what were they thinking?) that's discovered. Well, it took me a couple years to figure out that our home's HVAC system was using our crawl space under the home as it's cold air return. Hmm, crawlspace: you know, the place where radon (here in B-town), mice, chipmunks, assorted bugs and their associated odors live. Hint--if you can see daylight on a bright sunny day through one of your cold air return grates, you have a problem. Was this mentioned in our 27 page home inspection report? Surprise! Not a peep. Anyway, as my better half and I like to share as little of our fixed income as possible with Duke, I had done some spelunking under the home to check out some of our suspect supply runs that were anemically providing heat/ac to various places in our home. Our home heated very unevenly. These trips slightly underground confirmed the cold air return problem, as well as supply runs that had become unattached to the HVAC system, several large open fitting gaps to the crawlspace in the runs, one unattached to a boot, where the run was *close* to the boot, not attached, and stuffed with insulation. Aye carumba. After consulting Angies List (my first time), I settled on 5 contractors, brought them in and got our quotes for the job. I told them my major concerns, but tried not to lead them too much in terms of what should be done. I learned a lot. A spread of $5K over the five estimates. Our homes HVAC system was so bizarrely designed and implemented that replacement of everything under the house (furnace located in the utility room above) would probably be best. Definitely beyond our budget. Clint and Grant at Harris came up with the best compromise for us, consisting of installment of a cold air return system in our attic, and the repair replacement of suspect supply runs in the crawl. Grant, Dwayne and Mike did the work over the estimated 2 days for the job. They installed 5 cold air return runs and did all the necessary plenum reconfiguration at the furnace. They removed now unnecessary materials around the furnace, closed resulting openings to the crawl with metal sheet and dry wall, and sealed them off. They sealed off all the now undesired "cold air returns" to the crawlspace. Living space now separated from crawlspace! Their dry wall work for placement in the ceilings of our new cold air return boots and grates was precise and esthetic. They managed the inevitable dry wall dust fallout well, vacuuming as they cut. They properly managed the existing insulation in the attic and replaced it properly once the install was completed in that space. They rerouted the fresh air vent from furnace to ceiling that had been blocking the furnace filter door (WWTT): yes, up until now it had to be removed to replace the air filters. Duh! Now with the supply runs tweaked and a couple refurbed/replaced, we are experiencing supplies in the home that had previously moved little or no air, now providing robust volumes of air movement. Dwayne at my request even filled in several cracks and openings around the top of our foundation that became evident while he was doing his crawlspace work! Awesome service. The crew took time to properly manage the mess that accompanies this kind of work. My wife and I are super pleased. The entire crew from the start of the process to the end listened to our concerns and acted on them. They included me-in wherever it was appropriate. These are good people that we were completely comfortable having in our home. Highly recommended! Their "refrigerator" magnet now lives on our furnace!

You can't ask for better service from this team of professionals. They explained everything they were going to do, and in fact saved me money by going with another unit. I highly recommend them. I have told many people that if they need work done, they should definitely go with them.

The original equipment was 25 years old when the blower motor failed so we decided for a complete replacement.  I solicited three estimates and Clint, the owner of Harris Heating and Air Conditioning, was not only the lowest but also the most responsive and the best to negotiate with over various aspects of the equipment and the install.

Everyone who works for Clint is professional and courteous.  They arrived on time, kept me informed of the progress and asked me questions when needed.  It is clear that they take pride in their work and they not only talk about customer service, they actually deliver it.  Several days after the install they came back out to check on things and fined tuned the refrigerant, plus Clint came out on purpose to meet me in person.

It is becoming more and more rare to find a company that is honest, professional and customer oriented.  The type of equipment you buy is secondary, since there are actually so few original manufacturers anyway.  Your relationship with the installer and maintainer of the equipment is much more important.

I heartily recommend Clint and his whole team, they are very agreeable to deal with.

Our (aging) air conditioner blew out late last summer, and the Harris guys came right out to look at it. They recommended a replacement unit, and that we replace the furnace too. The furnace wasn't strictly necessary, but it was getting toward the end of its useful life and would fail at some point, so we decided to get through the winter and then revisit it. Chris and Clint from Harris were professional and informative without being pushy throughout the process.
This Spring we decided to go ahead and do the whole job, and decided to go with Harris. They were fast, friendly, informative, and appeared to do a quality job. They even did a couple of extra things (including getting into our crawl space to reconnect a loose piece of duct work) that weren't part of the specific job.
They got the whole new system installed in a day, cleaned up after themselves, and made it all very easy. It was an expensive job, but their estimate wasn't out of line with others... maybe not the cheapest, but not gold-plated, and I definitely think you get what you pay for!

I'm very glad k have a relationship with this company and will continue to use them. They do biannual service for us and are quite nice, but even more critically, they came quickly when our heater cut off in the dead of winter. They also did not laugh at me (to my face, anyway) when it turned out that the reason the heater cut off was because my filter needed changing quite desperately. They are very helpful at educating the new, clueless homeowner like me in a polite and straightforward manner.

They did a fine job.  Showed up on time, were very professional, knowledgeable, and competent.  Our furnace is now working well and a potential problem with a gas leak was corrected.  We liked their work so much we signed up for an annual heating & cooling checkup.  BTW, the price shown is for the heating service only.

My air conditioner locked up. I called several companies. I wasn't happy with either; the way I was spoken to on the phone as if I should feel privileged that the person took time out of their day to answer the phone, or the cost and time it would take to just come out and look at my unit. Harris was very pleasant and informative on the phone, could come out and looked at the unit. I know that my entire system is 15 years old, and will need replacing at some point. But Harris only fixed what needed fixing at a very reasonable price. When I do need a new system, I WILL called Harris.
Response from Harris Heating and Air
"[removed member name], Thanks for the compliment. We do not "push" selling new systems like the bulk of the national heating and air conditioning companies. Our techs are NATE (NORTH AMERICAN TECHNICIAN EXCELLENCE) certified which means they can repair most any system if its overall condition is safe to operate. We are not opposed to selling new systems as sometimes the increased energy efficiency of a new system outweighs the cost of its installation. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Its customers like you that keep us going. Thanks again, Barry Herring Owner"

Worked with Clint and his team who were really nice to work with. They came up with an ingenious solution to my not being able to put a filter in my HVAC system. I had other companies look at it and none of them was able to come up with such a solution due to the tight space my furnace was in.
His team arrived on time and did everything they were supposed to do and i was really happy and impressed. They were honest and did the job right. I had old but working equipment and i was never pressured nor offered to buy new equipment. They also dispensed good advise on how to maintain my HVAC system.
