Description of Work: About two weeks ago I called Aardvark and asked to reserve 8 folding chairs for Saturday, April 25, 2015. Yesterday, Friday April 24, I called them at 2:00pm and informed the man I no longer needed the chairs. He screamed at me on the phone that I would still be charged the $13.68 because I kept him from renting the chairs to another customer. He also screamed that his company sent me an email advising me that if I cancelled the rental order I would be charged anyway. I never received an email stating that. I then asked him if all he had in his entire warehouse to rent was those 8 chairs. He hung up on me. I was so angry to be treated in this unprofessional manner. I called back and said you're stealing my money for services I didn't receive. I told him to keep the blood money. Again, the phone was disconnected. After thinking the situation over I decided I am tired of dealing with unprofessional nasty and mean people. I called my bank which had debited the money, explained the situation and they are refunding my money. This Aardvark guy is so unprofessional and mean. I will never recommend them to anyone else and do not intend to ever use their services.

Response from AARDVARK'S PARTY RENTALS
The customer placed an order on April 7. When taking an order, we follow up with a written email to the customer with general information about their order and our rental policies. It is the same info that has been included on our website for 13 years. When asked for her email address, the customer refused to provide one. The day she was scheduled to pickup the equipment she had reserved, she called and cancelled the order. She was informed at that time that we would be enforcing our cancellation policy. The customer became belligerent and stated that if we charge her for the equipment she would go to the internet and post negative reviews about our company. At that point, it was clear there was no reasoning with this customer and the employee hung up. She called back a second time, still angry and, again, the employee hung up. Had the customer cancelled before the scheduled pickup date, she would not have had to pay the full amount of the rental. What the customer fails to mention is that this is NOT the first time she has reserved equipment and cancelled it the day she was scheduled to receive it. She does not mention that when she did this in the past, she was NOT charged for the equipment. It seems this customer wants us to reserve the equipment for her, remove it from our inventory so that we cannot rent it to anyone else, guarantee the equipment will be available for her event, and allow her to cancel at anytime without paying a fee. Again, this is not the first time this particular customer has cancelled an order at the last minute. It is however, the first time she was told she needed to pay for the equipment she reserved. As of this writing, we have not been contacted by her bank or credit card company, which is necessary if they intend to refund her money. We are confident that when we give them specific dates and times of this and previous orders placed and then cancelled by the customer, no money will be refunded.

It says on their website that they service Indianapolis. I called them and they said they wouldn't come down to the southeast side of Indianapolis. They need to adjust their website.

Delivery of one item to the southeast side of Indianapolis from Noblesville during peak rental season was just not feasible. Customers are always welcome to pickup and return items from our store. Over the past 12 years, Aardvark's Party Rentals has serviced Hamilton County and surrounding areas, including Marion County. As gas prices continue to rise, we are constantly reviewing our delivery policies. Instead of increasing our delivery fees for the majority of our customers, we chose to adjust our delivery radius. We do service the Indianapolis area as our website states.

As it got closer to the wedding, I never heard from him. So I called Aardvark and Steve and quot;Googled Earthand quot; my home and thought the tent would fit. He said they would deliver and set up the tent on July 5th. We waited most of the day on July 5th and late in the afternoon I called Aardvark and asked when they would be out. Steve Goss said to me, and quot;Lady, do you know how hot it is out there?and quot; and quot;My men are running behind and cannot make it until tomorrow.and quot; I said, and quot;Yes, I know how hot it is, we have been preparing the yard for our wedding.and quot; We needed the tent delivered when he first promised as we had to hang decorations, lights, etc. He said the guys would be out about 10:00 p.m., well in about 45 minutes they showed up. It was a crew of very young men who proceeded to tell us that they were going to drive 3 ft stakes into the ground above out septic field! They told us how they had recently busted through a water line at another location. We had no idea the stakes were 3 ft long and the way the tent would fit according to these men would be right over the septic field. We called Steve Goss and he suggested we don't pound them in all the way???? (Would this be safe if we had a storm come up?) My husband then got on the phone and Steve Goss became very rude...he stated he couldn't remember whether he ever came out to our house or not, suggested we move the location of the tent and cut down half a tree, then he started screaming at us on the phone and hung up on us. I called him back and he would not reason with us or have any suggestions and hung up again. I immediately called my credit card company to dispute the upcoming charge, they put us on a 3-way conversation and after yelling at me again, he hung up again. Steve Goss would not refund any portion of what he charged us. He said he put out too much money on the linens ets. Well, we had purchased lights, decorations, etc and now only was I unable to use then, where was I going to have my wedding in 2 days??? We understand we would lose some money since we did not cancel in time, but we feel it was not fair to be charged the entire amount. His website did not state the length of the stakes for the and he never came out ahead of the scheduled date to survey the area. He was so very rude and unprofessional. He said to me, 'Lady, you should know how big your yard is!and quot; It was a nightmare!
Description of Work: I contacted Aardvark Party Rental to secure rental of a tent, tables, chairs, & linens for our ourdoor wedding. I had to give a credit card to secure payment. I was told that a week or so before the wedding Steve Goss would come out to survey the area of the yard to make sure it would accomodate the tent. (We were expecting approx 150 guests).

Aardvark's Party Rentals has been erecting tents for 10+ years. We know we play a very important part in helping our customers celebrate a very important life event and always strive to make every event the best it can be - especially when it comes to weddings! Because tent rental is such a large part of our business, we include an entire section on our website titled "Important Tent Information" which clearly states the requirements and site preparation needed for any tent installation. Included in that section are several important pieces of information that Member clearly overlooked. Following is the info on our website which relates directly to Member's complaints. "To install a tent properly we need a flat, level surface free from trees, tree branches, overhead wires or other overhead obstructions. We need the outside dimensions of the tent plus 5' for proper staking, ie a 20'x20' tent needs a space of 25'x25'. We need easy access to the site where the tent is to be erected." The second piece of information reads as follows: "The client is responsible for informing Aardvark's Party Rentals of the existence of and the location of any owner installed pipes or wiring, such as but not limited to underground sprinkler systems; septic systems including finger systems; electrical lines for outdoor lighting or that may run to a utility shed; plumbing for outdoor fountains or decorative water displays; computer lines or any other unde3rground obstuction that we might hit by driving a stake 40 inches into the ground." The third piece of information listed on our website and overlooked by Member reads: "Orders are typically delivered 1-3 days in advance of your event while pickups occur 1-2 days following your event. You may erquest AM (8-12) or PM (12-4) delivery or pickup service and we will try our best to accommodate you. Please understand that we schedule tents in advance of your event so that if the weather the day we are scheduled to setup is an issue, sometimes we3 are forced to move the setup to the following day because of problems in the delivereies scheduled before you. Thus the reason for not coming out the day of the event and setting up tents." The date of Member's event was July 7 and we arrived on July 5 to deliver the order. We were never told prior to that time that Member wanted the tent to be placed over a septic system. Aardvark's and Steve Goss did in fact attempt to work with Member by suggesting relocation of the tent because of the septic system and free from interference of trees in her yard. Mr. Goss was also trying to determine if they had an area that would accommodate two or three smaller tents to cover the number of guests expected. Trying to discuss these alternatives with Member at that time was very difficult because Member was upset and extremely emotional. At 6:21pm, July 5, two days prior to the date of their event, Mr. Scott Hall called and cancelled the entire order for Member. The following day, a three-way call was held with Steve Goss, Member and her credit card company. Member was angry and still very emotional during that phone call and impossible to reason with. We believe the credit card company can attest to what transpired in that phone conversation. The credit card company honored the full payment amount. We believe Member had easy access to information regarding site preparation and should have known the size of the area in her yard that would be required to erect her tent; that trees on her property were potential problems; and that the septic system could in fact be damaged by stakes required to erect a tent. We appreciate being able to respond with an accurate account of Member's experience with Aardvark's. We have no control over inaccurate information given to us by a customer regarding their tent site. We did try to find alternative ways in which to satisfy Member.

The company was very thorough with the whole process. When I called for a quote, they offered advice to make our party more enjoyable with their services, even though it didn't add to the rental bill. The owners came out a week ahead of time and scouted the location of the tent with us and then marked it.The day before our event, the tent, chairs and tables arrived. The staff were very efficient and attentive to the location of the tent.

Tables were delivered a little later than I asked for them on the date needed and they picked them up on Monday morning. I was able to leave tables outside of garage for pick up when I wasn't home. Tables rented for two days but had them for four days with no extra charge. Other party rental suppliers wanted a lot more for delivery/pickup. All contact was by phone and was always very professional. I would use them again.

My experience with Aardvark's Part Rentals Company was fine. Everything was delivered on time and to specification. They picked it back after the party. They didn't destroy any property in the process. There were no problems. They did what they said they were going to do. They charged what they said they were going to charge. They were courteous on the phone. Everything was done in a timely manner. The chairs and tables were a bit out dated but it was okay. I would use them again in the future.

He was great! It was a very small purchase, but he was very helpful. The box of the sno cones was damaged so he gave them to me for free although they were fine. I would definitely go back to Aardvark's. My call about renting equipment was returned promptly.
