Initially, I bought a coupon from this company through Angie's list for gutter cleaning. They appeared to do a very thorough job, although tonight when we had heavy rain the water poured over the edges of several gutters, so we clearly have obstructions somewhere. Hence the B grade for quality. Otherwise I would have given them an A. While they were here I arranged for them to do additional work. They did a very good job power-washing and staining a large deck - even power washed the deck furniture. They also did some gutter repair and cut ivy off of a high roofline. They were very easy to communicate with and responsive. They returned 3 days after the deck had been stained to return heavy items to their places that we could not have moved ourselves. Altogether it was a very positive experience. And I plan to call and ask about re-checking the downspouts!

I purchased the Big Deal from Angie's List for eight hours of labor to stain my deck. I just purchased my first home in May 2012, so this is a very exciting new time for me. The deck was an orangey color, so I really wanted to re-stain it. I called Wellman Exteriors, and Patrick took all of my information. He was very professional. Chris (not the owner) came right out two days later to power wash the deck. He worked for about two hours -- did a great job. The next day, Chris was supposed to come back to stain the deck, but a hose broke on their sprayer, so I got bumped. This did not bother me in the slightest, as this was out of their control. Chris was very apologetic. This is where the fun started. His partner Jeremy came out the next day to stain. I came home from lunch to meet him and to see the color (Chris picked out the color for me). I liked the color, so I left to go back to work. When I came home that night, I was all excited to see my new deck. Much to my surprise, it was horribly stained. I have attached photos to show fellow Angie Lister's what I saw when I came home. There were several areas throughout the deck that were not even touched with stain. There were tons of places where you can see the primer showing through the stain. Needless to say, I was very upset. Patrick (Executive Manager) had e-mailed me earlier in the day with the invoice, so it was obvious to me that the job was considered to be finished. I tried to call their office to speak with Patrick, but he had already left for the day. I spoke to some lady, and she apologized, and said someone would call me that night to discuss the issue, but no one did. I e-mailed Patrick back. He responded immediately the next morning telling me to call Jeremy to discuss the situation, as he has the most knowledge of my deck since he stained it. I understand this idea, but as a customer, the last thing I want to do is to talk to the employee who messed up staining my deck. But, I obliged by calling Jeremy. He was very rude on the phone and very defensive. Not one time did he ever apologize for how poor of a job he did. He just told me to call the office to work it out. I called Patrick back, and he said he needed to talk to Chris Wellman (the owner) before doing anything more (he had left for the day already). The next day, I called Patrick in the morning to follow up, and he said they were going to send Jeremy back out the next day. I got home the next day while Jeremy was staining the deck, fixing his previous mistakes. After he was finished, I was leaving to go to a commitment when I was approached by another man, who seemed to be a part of management. He asked me if I had seen the deck, and we went to inspect it together. At this time, this gentleman admitted to me that Jeremy made a lot of mistakes. He never really apologized, but I was content with hearing that I was simply not going insane. There was one post that was not touched at all the first time around, and after the second time around, it was not touched again. I pointed this out to the gentleman, and he was like, "Oh, yes, that is not good." I proceeded to call Jeremy over to fix it. I left and so did the other guy. Jeremy was then on his own. When I got home that evening, I found out that he had only stained a very small area of the post, leaving the rest of it white. At this time, I was furious. It was obvious to me that Jeremy simply did not care about my deck, and it almost seemed like he was trying to screw up just out of spite. Jeremy also got a lot of stain on the side of the house. I called the owner directly the next day to discuss. At this time, Chris Wellman was very apologetic. He said he would not send Jeremy back out to fix his mistakes again. He said he would send out his head of operations (which happened to be Chris who originally power washed the deck) the next day to fix Jeremy's mistakes. The next day, Chris called me and told me that he would be out that morning to fix the errors. He did inform me that Jeremy was no longer with the company. While I never wish to see anyone lose their job, but in a way, that made me feel comfortable that Wellman's Exteriors was serious about doing things the right way and they would not tolerate poor work. Chris did a great job fixing a lot of the errors, but still left that post untouched. I was not upset by this because Chris had told me he fixed "a post" so I figured there was another post that I had missed. In fact, that was indeed the case. So, there was some miscommunication between Chris and myself. He came out and fixed the other post. Overall, I am pleased with the fact that management did what they could to make things right. The whole process took way too long to complete, but they handled it well. The deck is still not perfect, but I have given up as it looks acceptable. Chris did, however, fix areas on the deck for free that where not his problem. Unfortunately I do not see myself using this company again in the future. There were just too many problems, and frankly, the project cost way too much ($505.00) to reconsider considering how poor of an experience this was. Even with the Big Deal, I feel like I over payed. I agreed to pay that amount, so I will pay it. But, the company should have given me a larger discount due to the inconvenience. Like I said, I am appreciative of how they eventually cared. But, it was too rocky of an experience for my liking.

We live in a large house with gutters 50 feet off the ground and are unable to clean them ourselves given that we also have a tile roof. I've always cleaned my gutters and was quite resistant. Other big deals did not work for us given the square footage would make the cost 3-4 times what we paide. They showed up, did a great job, cleaned up and our gutters have worked perfectly ever since! Thanks for the great service, highly recoommended!

Within minutes of me making my appointment with my service, Wellman provided me with a confirmation email, which highlighted the date that they would come to perform the service and an explanation that I would receive estimates for any services that the technician saw may be needed to be addressed in the future. This email also thanked me for purchasing their deal from Angie's List. Though I was away from home when my service was performed, I received in my mailbox a paid invoice and an estimate for the pressure washing of the exterior of my home. In my email inbox was another copy of the estimate as well as another thank you for allowing them to service me.

The work crew called ahead and showed up on time. They did a quick and professional job doing all services, and they cleaned up nicely after themselves.

I took advantage of an Angie's List "Big Deal" for tree trimming services. They did a pretty good job. Tree trimming is not necessarily their primary business, and they don't have bucket trucks like a tree cutting company would. Fortunately, my mature trees are relatively short and they did an effective job trimming. They also cleaned up nicely and did not leave a bunch of twigs all over my yard. I would use again for a variety of handy-man type jobs.

They did a great job. They took away a lot of limbs and debris. I am happy with the services.

I was pleased that they were willing to do the third story as it has been hard to find someone to do it. They left almost no debris behind. It seems to be a good job.

They have a good price, and they did a good job.

We used him once before and what we needed to do is use him again because we wanted to continue the service. He had put a liner in our gutter. But, we had some communication problems with him and we had to communicate a couple of times with him because he wasn't responding and there were some miscommunications with him with regards to what we wanted done but eventually, they did show up and it was a very routine job, just cleaning out the gutters. But that was performed satisfactorily. This was a small job and they have bigger work to do. But when you talk to a provider, you expect service. I would hesitate to use them again in the future.

I called June 6 to schedule my Big Deal. I was told that the gutters would be cleaned by the end of the week or beginning of the following week. I did not have to be home because I had all ready paid and an invoice would be in my mail box. I came home 6/12 and not only were my gutters cleaned but the deck, patio and front porch swept clean. Wellman went beyond cleaning up after himself. I am smiling as I write this report. I will certainly use the company for other necessities of maintenance. Thank you Wellman Exteriors!

After some delays because of the heavy workload due to the popularity of the Angie's List special offered, the work was performed within a good time frame. Communication was good and I'm happy with the result.

Chris is awesome to deal with. His staff was very prompt in calling me back to schedule the service they provided. They removed one large tree and two small trees from our yard and arranged for the stumps to be ground. There was a misunderstanding with the stump folks, and Chris was so kind to take care of it. We'd be happy to use them again or recommend them to family and friends.

I made an appointment with them for an estimate to remove two trees I mentioned the Angies list big deal and was told that I did not need to purchase it that they would honor that pricing. Now a little background I had 3 different quotes before I saw the advertisement on Angie's list and decided to give this company a try. Biggest mistake I could have made. this company was the highest of all of the estimates for the same work by quite a margin. The other 3 quotes I received were around $400, give or take $50. This company wanted to charge me $594 for the exact same work and they claimed they gave me the Angie's list big deal discount of $200. That would make their estimate $794 for the same work 3 other companies quoted $400, $450, & 470. They gave me a five hour window of when they might be there almost a week after I first contacted them. Then after I had wasted my entire afternoon waiting for these gentlemen to arrive I get a call where I am informed no one is coming due to car problems. When I asked about rescheduling they either Monday or Tuesday that Id get a call. I told them that I needed more information than that due to the fact I am not currently living at my house due to a fire. The guy on the phone still wouldn't give me a straight answer. I got a call on monday with the same guy telling me that they were so busy that they might get out to see to the estimate sometime near the end of the week. What really makes me mad is the first time I spoke with these people I told them I needed the work done no later than the 10th of may. They told me no problem, which it obviously was/is. I wasted almost 2 weeks waiting for this company. They are not worth it. I warn anyone thinking about using this company: DON'T!!

Nice job! The gutters weren't too bad (I don't think) but always like to perform routine maintenance. Great company to work with!

A quick response to my purchase of one of the Deals offered, and a very quick job completion. GREAT job and you cannot beat the price. The job was done thoroughly and no debris left around the home. I would absolutely recommend this company!

We give them an "A" overall and we would use them again in the future.

I purchased a Big Deal from Angie's List. Within 24 hours, I received a proactive email from Wellman to confirm my purchase and inquire about scheduling. I told them they could come anytime as I'm not yet living in the house where the work was performed. They called to confirm their arrival the afternoon they performed the work. They left a receipt in my mailbox.

Wellman did a great job cleaning out our gutters... There was actually some frozen ice/leaves in one of the gutters that they couldn't get out due to the lower temperatures, but they told us about it and said they'd be back as soon as the weather warmed up and they did and it was a great experience!!! Would definitely use them again.Doug

They removed a large tree that was falling over as half of its root base was out of the ground. The only thing preventing it from falling was the adjacent tree which it was resting on a limb. They removed it without damaging any vegetation or property and removed all debrie. Could not have had a better experience and the pricing,even before the big deal,was better than another estimates Highly, highly recommend....thanks guys!

I’ve used them a couple of times and they’ve been great. I spent $400 on their services. They did good work. They are quick and they have a good price. The staff members were pleasant. I will use their services again in the future.

It did not go well. Our first contact following signing up for the Big Deal suggested that they had a large response to the offer, but would be out to look at the project the next week. Several weeks and several calls later they came out and agreed to do the work for the Angies List price. A date was set, but again we had problems getting the work done. It would have been a lot better to promise what they could really deliver rather than making and breaking promise dates. During the cutting of the tree a limb fell on our post lamp and destroyed the lamp. I bought a new lamp and installed it, and they paid for it. They offered to install it, but I did it myself. Days later the contractor came to do the stump grinding. During the process the cable from the house to the post lamp was cut. I repaired that myself. We are always warned to not pay until the work is done. In this case I had already paid through Angies List. I would have cancelled out of this company and moved on when they couldn't meet their schedule, but I was locked in. I thought the price for the work was very good-- except for the problems.

They cleaned up beautifully and were very courteous. .

Overall, I thougth it went ok. We called to schedule a time for them to give us a quote. The quote provided said the ANGIES LIST COUPON would cover the work we were wanting done. I would have liked to see a broken down quote showing the price of each item, so we'd know if we had any extra money to spend. They scheduled a time to come out, then had to cancel that day and reschedule. Jeremy that works for them is very nice on the phone and takes time to answer questions and address concerns. They removed the trees and said they sub-contract for the stump. A stump company showed up at our house to look at the stump and asked if the stumps from the trees they removed were included. We assumed they were, so they ground those, then Wellman contacted us to pay the bill- and additional $75. I contacted Chris Wellman and he graciously removed the $75 charge from our bill. He agreed that the stump grinding comapny shoudl have verified with him the work that was to be done prior to completing the job. I'd use them again, and have in fact referred them to our neighbor. I felt Chris and his team did a great job of making sure the customer was satisfied - which in the end will result in us referring people to them and us being repeat customers.
