I contracted with Mud Slingers on March 23, 2021, to build a 16'x32', 6 foot deep concrete swimming pool. From the beginning, it was a nightmare! Brian, the project manager, could never be found. I called and texted him on multiple occasions but could rarely get in touch with him. I had to contact the office to try to find out what was going on. Brian would tell me he'd be at my house at a certain time and rarely did he show up. The pool build was delayed several times and finally the pool was started in early July 2021. Brad was there to get the excavation crew started. He then left the job and told the crew he would be back to check on them. He never came back to make sure the pool was excavated in accordance to the plans and the contract. By the time the rebar was put in and the concrete poured, I then realized that my pool was nowhere near 6 foot deep and it also did not have flat hopper at the deep end as the plans showed. When I brought this to their attention, they said they I didn't ask for a 6 foot deep pool but it's stated in the first sentence of the contract that the pool was to be 6 foot deep. They refused to do anything about it and the owner of the company constantly avoided me. Their work is very sloppy and I had to hire another company to come out and fix all of the issues just to get my pool equipment running properly. I really wish I had done more research before hiring this company. I am in the legal process now trying to hold this company accountable.

Had a really bad experience after Mudslingers installed our pool. 3 years after install we developed a crack about 10 feet long on one side of the pool. After 15 different attempts to get help, no one ever showed up. They tried to get a sub contractor to come look but never happened. 2 years later all the tile fell off one side of the wall. I begged them to come look and they blamed freeze/thaw damage. I hired a structural engineer and he agreed but not because of my fault, Mudslingers never caulked the expansion joint which allowed water behind the tile and caused the damage. Of course they take zero responsibility for anything. All 4 companies I had estimate the repairs could not believe the expansion joint was never caulked. I even paid for a 3rd party structural engineer who gave me a report stating the same. Very poor workmanship and about the worst service after the sale I have experienced. I spent a total of $12,500 to repair both the tile and have the pool re plastered.

Problem: We chose to have Mudslingers build our pool as they promised a fall dig. We were told if we came in with a $9k deposit they would start in September. When making the appointment to come in we were told we would be the next dig, beginning of September. By the end of October they still hadn’t started and they told us even if they did start they wouldn’t be able to finish the pool due to it being too cold to install the liner. I suggested we do it In spring, they said they were even more backed up then. After a 31 minute phone call from the owner where he screamed at me like a crazy person we realized it was not only going to be impossible working with them if we proceeded we were going to get a non warranted liner as the liner company told us not to install a liner unless it’s above 60 degrees for 3 consecutive days. The use of a heater done in cases for example a house is for sale and they need a new liner is not recommended and not warranted.

He did the most fantastic job. He said the concrete I had was not done properly but he did it right. I would definitely use them again and I would highly recommend them.

We met with several contractors for building a custom gunite pool and chose Mudslingers based on their quality of work and design ideas. They use top of the line Hayward equipment and any minor issues that have come up they have been responsive in resolving. Very happy with the pool and our kids love it, Kim also recommended saltwater which we are very glad we chose that option. We've referred him to other friends that he's done a great job for as well.

Went with Mudslingers as they were about $500 less than any other quote. I should have known "you get what you pay for". They called and told me they would be on site to replace the liner on a Friday, so the day before I rented a pump and pumped all water out of pool. It was over two weeks and many, many calls before they showed up to replace the liner. The install did not go well, as only one of the three had experience installing liners. That was a statement they made when they arrived. They were also to paint the coping around the pool, which they failed to do. I called multiple times asking to come out and finish the job, but they never did. Then, a couple of weeks after the install I noticed the water level going down. A visual inspection by myself found that a seam was splitting. This is where even more problems began. I call Mudslingers and was told there was nothing they could do until that had a leak detection company inspect. I told them that you can plainly see that the seam is split and it needed replaced, but they would not come out to look. They scheduled a leak detection company to come out which took over three weeks. When the leak detection employee came out I showed him where the seam was split and he asked why they wasted his time to come out? I agreed with him. Now that the leak was officially detected, it took Mudslingers more than two months to finally replace the liner. They promised numerous install dates and never showed up. I called and spoke with the owner many times requesting they replace my liner as I was adding water daily to keep the water level up and the seam was splitting more and more. He promised it would get taken care of, but they were constant no shows. I finally went into the office, spoke to the owner in person about the replacement. He just shrugged me off and told me they would get to it when they had an opportunity. Very unprofessional. Once the crew finally showed up to replace the liner, it was another very unprofessional install. Only two guys showed up and they didn't appear to have a lot of experience. They scheduled the pool water fill person to show up at a certain time to fill the pool, and when he showed up on time they were nowhere near ready. They actually asked the pool water fill guy to help with the install, which he did so he could speed up the process and not be delayed anymore. It was well into the night before the job was finished and the pool was filled. As I stated before, they were also supposed to paint the coping around the pool, but I told them I didn't want them to touch the coping because I was afraid that they would do a very unprofessional job. My first contact with Mudslingers was April 2013, it was June 2013 before the first liner was installed and August 2013 before the replacement liner was installed. I went almost the entire summer and pool season of 2013 battling with Mudslingers to do a job they were hired and paid to do. UPDATE: ONGOING NEVER ENDING Pool Liner installed DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! This is how he handled our liner situation. He went as far to post on social media RIGHT AFTER HE SAID HE WOULD GIVE US A REFUND, BUT DIDN'T and said... "Do to unforeseen issues with pre-existing old pools we will no longer be doing liner replacements. That makes Latham Liners look bad because Kim Harper won't honor his mistake, which is the Company they use and that is the liner they put in our pool, they are losing money due to his decision not to replace old liners. DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! Our old liner was good it was just an outdated color, and we wanted a new one. UPDATE: THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE THE 2ND LINER INSTALL IN 2013. After they installed the 2nd liner it immediately began to wrinkle up. On the bottom and sides. I took pictures and sent to Courtney the Office Manager, and she sent me this email. "On Friday, October 4, 2013, office manager wrote: Kim and Brian both looked at the pictures and spoke to the service tech about it. They said that there are No wrinkles. With the coves in the corners, those will vary depending on water temperature and ground water. The liners are not attached to anything. They will consistently move and adjust themselves. Thanks PLEASE SEND CONFIRMATION EMAIL ON RECEIPT OF THIS EMAIL. Mud Slingers 5575 Elmwood Ave ste. D Indianapolis IN 46203 317-650-5131 www.mudslingersinc.com. They would not and still won't come out to look at the pool. The liner is barely 3 years old and it's an eye sore. I don't hesitate when people ask who did the work, they have a bad reputation because everyone knows someone who had a horrible experience with Mudslingers and Kim Harper. The wrinkles are everywhere and the ones on the side are huge. Kim Harper did not measure the pool dimensions properly and won't fix his mistake. He is not professional. He has left responses on others "bad reviews" and his responses were not nice!

THANK YOU IT WAS 100% HORRIBLE. THE OFFICE MANAGER COURTNEY VAN HORNE CALLED BACK AT HER LEISURE AND NEVER GAVE US THE COURTESY OF SENDING SOMEONE OUT TO LOOK AT THE 2ND LINER THEY INSTALLED. THE OWNER NEVER CAME TO THE HOUSE, NEVER RETURNED CALLS AND WAS VERY RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS EVEN YELLED VERY LOUD WHEN I WENT TO HIS BUSINESS, MUDSLINGERS POOL AND PATIO. IF YOU EVEN HAVE AN INKLING TO GET A POOL, DO NOT HIRE THESE GUYS. THEY HAVE A HIGH TURNOVER RATE AND IN THE MATTER OF 3 MONTHS OF THEM INSTALLING 2 BRAND NEW POOL LINERS THEY HAD FIRED 2 EMPLOYEES. THEY DO NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY, THE WON'T EVEN SEND SOMEONE OUT TO LOOK AT THE LINER. THEY ARE BLAMING IT ON THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WON'T SEND A REP OUT BECAUSE IT IS UP TO MUDSLINGERS TO PUT IN A CLAIM AND THEY REFUSE. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF THE LAST 2 YRS AND THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING, YOU WOULD THINK THE OWNER, KIM HARPER WOULD CARE ABOUT THE PRODUCTS AND WORKMANSHIP THAT HE PROVIDES, HE DOES NEITHER AND REFUSES TO CALL LATHAM POOL WHO IS THE MANUFACTURER OF THE LINER. MUDSLINGERS HAS THE REPUTATION OF NOT MEASURING CORRECTLY AND THEY LOST THEIR CONTRACTORS THAT POUR CEMENT AND DO THE WALLS OF THE POOL ETC BECAUSE THE CONTRACTORS REFUSE TO WARRANTY THE WORK THAT THEY DID FOR MUDSLINGERS BECAUSE OF ALL THE PREVIOUS MISTAKES THEY HAD IN THE PAST. NOW THEY HAVE TO HAVE A CONTRACTOR COME FOR ST LOUIS MISSOURI TO DO THE CONCRETE, WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU? HORRIBLE BUSINESS
Description of Work: THE 1ST LINER INSTALLED JULY 2013 STARTED LEAKING WITHIN 2 WEEKS. MUDSLINGERS WOULD NOT COME OUT TO LOOK AT THE WORK THEY DID. WE HAD TO WAIT 3 MONTHS FOR THEM TO SEND A DIVE TEAM TO FIND THE SEAM SEPARATION THAT WAS LEAKING, HE SLAPPED A PIECE OF PATCH ON IT AND IT FELL OFF WITHIN 20 MINUTES SO I WENT AND BOUGHT A PATCH KIT/ IT CONTINUED TO LEAK UNTIL OCTOBER WE HAD THE HOSE IN THE POOL EVERYDAY MAKING SURE IT STAYED FULL UNTIL THEY CAME WITH 2ND LINER. THE 2ND LINER DID NOT GET A GOOD SEAL AROUND THE POOL THERE ARE RIPPLES ALL OVER THE POOL FLOOR AND EVEN UP THE SIDES AND YOU CAN TELL THE SEAMS DON'T MATCH WHERE THE LINER IS FITTING INCORRECTLY. IT IS HORRIBLE AND WE CAN'T VACUMME THE SHALLOW END BEING AFRAID THE LINER WILL RIP. THEY ARE BLAMING THE MANUFACTURER OF THE LINER AND ITS NOT THE CASE. WE ARE STILL UNDER WARRANTY WITH MUDSLINGERS TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR WRONG DOING AND THEY ARE IGNORING OUR CALLS AND EMAILS. I DO NOT WANT THEM TO WORK ON OUR POOL AGAIN. BRIAN THE SERVICE MANAGER SAT IN THE VAN MOST OF THE DAY, YES I HAVE PICTURES. THE OWNERS NAME IS KIM HARPER AND HE IS A VERY CONFRONTATIONAL MAN AND HAS YELLED AT ME A COUPLE OF TIMES AND HIS WORDS WERE NOT PLEASANT AND HAS NO BUSINESS WORKING WITH THE PUBLIC. YES I HAVE EMAILS, PICTURES OF THE LINER PICS OF EMPLOYEES PUTTING IN THE LINER, BOTH TIMES AND THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO FIT SO THEY HAD THE MAN DELIVERING THE POOL WATER IN HELPING AND HE WAS KICKING AND PULLING THE LINER I HAVE AROUND 100 PHOTOS AND THE EMAILS FROM LAST AUGUST WHEN COURTNEY, THE OFFICE MANAGER WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE CARE OF IT BY SENDING THE PICTURES TO LATHAM POOL LINERS TH. I HAVE PAID RECEIPTS.THE ONLY THING I DON'T HAVE IS A, WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A BEAUTIFUL POOL LINER. THE ORIGINAL LINER LASTED 19 YRS AND THEY HAVE PUT 2 BAD ONES IN.

We chose Mudslingers because they had a fair price and some really up to date equipment., The owner, Kim, also seemed easy to work with. The process started off smooth. The first issue we had was that our liner ripped after they began putting water into the pool. They did tear it out, order a new one, and put another one in. During all of this time, we did text Kim quite a few times with questions (obviously because we are new to this and wanted to ensure we knew what was next). He always answered, but sometimes with a short tone. That was easy to look past, as we just wanted a nice pool. The next issue is that our concrete was poured and it had more than one issue. The concrete around the ladders was absolutely embarassing. They just bought bigger rings until it covered "most" of the holes, and then caulked the rest. One year later, the concrete is embarassing. Some of the Mudslingers employees even joked with us that they fired that concrete subcontractor immediately because ours looked so bad. We had water fountains put in and the concrete around those is wet for days after you run them. We finally stopped asking about the concrete because they offered to tear it up and fix it, assuring us the concrete would look an entirely different color if we did that (in other words, not matching the rest of the concrete.) Since then, we now have a huge wrinkle in one corner of our pool liner. After trying to get somebody to come and look at this issue for nearly one month we were asked to bring our pool water in for testing. We received a text that our water numbers are great so that isnt causing the issue. You see, we were being told that it had to be our chemicals causing this issue, however, we test our water daily and our water has been great all summer. Six weeks later after begging and sending emails and texts we had somebody finally show up to take a look at it. He was baffled himself. After leaving us an $85 bill for being there 10 minutes and taking some water to be tested, we got an email from Courtney (the admin). She stated that they have been in the pool business for over 30 years (the owner) and that they feel sure it was the chemicals because our water was a little off and it probably had been for qutie some time (remember six weeks prior it was beautiful and perfect). I have since had another large reputable pool company begin working with me, and it is NOT anything but the workmanship of the pool. Please, if you are putting an investment in your home of this much money, do NOT use Mudslingers. You simply cant get responses, when you do they are rude, and your pool will be embarassing. I have numerous text messages, emails, and pictures that I intend on givnig to a newly hired attorney. We are nice and fair people, but this has been the worst service we have ever recieved.

Not to good at all. I wish we would have done our homework before we went with this company. The total price was supposed to be around $61,500 and it will eventually cost us $100,000 to complete the pool, fix our yard, our sidewalk, and connect sump pump to sewer system. I have tons of videos, pictures, and correspondences that I will provide to the Attorney General, Media outlets, and whomever wants to build a swimming pool so they know not to go with Mud Slingers Pool and Patio. This business is very unprofessional, rude, and is disrespectful toward its customers. My swimming pool is still incomplete and must hire someone else to complete the work. It took this company over two months and the pool is still not complete.
Description of Work: On January 12, 2015, we signed a contract with this company to build a 20' X 40' swimming pool in our yard. Prior to any work being done, we paid them $7,100 as deposit. During our negotiation process, we told them that we want the pool to be completed by end of April 2015 or first week of May 2015 which they agreed to. On March 9, 2015, they mobilized equipment and started excavation and received a $30,000 check from us to complete excavation of the pool. During the excavation process for the 20' X 40' pool our whole back yard was destroyed by them and many of our trees where damaged by their equipment. After they received the $30,000 check, we did not see them on the job for several weeks until they installed the liner and filled with water which took them until 11:30 pm or so and requested for another check in the amount of $21,000. After they received the check, they disappeared for few more weeks. We tried to communicate with them on several occasions regarding the schedule but their excuse was rain. We needed to build a retaining wall due to over excavation and they told us that was not their responsibility. We had to go out on our own to find someone to build the retaining wall for us. They outlet the sump pump in our yard which is against the law. They did not bury the outlet for the sump pump which is against electrical code and could cause damage to our family and our house. They have not installed lights inside the pool which is supposed to be done as part of the contract. They have not cleaned the pool which is full of garbage. They used our yard as dumping ground for their garbage and they were asked to make sure they do not put garbage in our yard, street, and sidewalk which they ignored. Then on May 7, 2015, I receive and email from them indicating that they want to have a pool school to teach us how to use the system at 4 pm. When we showed up, the pool was full of garbage, no lights were installed in the pool, the wiring for the pump was still laying on the ground, and the sump pump outlet was still in our yard. After discussing these issues with their representative, he apologized for scheduling the meeting with all these issues still in place in which time we asked him to leave our house. I immediately contacted their owner (Kim Harper) and asked why he was not on site and why we still have these issues but he ignored us and told us he is not going to finish the pool and we can do nothing about it. This company is the worst that we have dealt with. The project engineer on the job quit couple times because he was fed up with their unprofessionalism and their attitude toward customers. This company has been reviewed by many clients on Angie's list, Better Business Bureau, and face book and majority of these reviews have been negative. The only thing this company cares about is getting your money. Please do your homework before you go with them. We will never ever again use this company or refer them to anyone.

Their consultative sales process is the best in the business. I went to their show room prior to an in-home consultation so I could be educated on all of the options. Kim asked me about my knowledge level and patiently walked me through all of the equipment and pros and cons of all options. When Kim arrived at my house for the in home consultation we already had an idea of what we wanted and just had to finalize the plans and logistics. The crew is a great group of guys who were happy to explain how the pool was being built and what the next steps were in the process. Brian and Toby led the crew and were always responsive to my questions and concerns. I can be a bit of a perfectionist and they were patient with all of my questions. They stand by their work and made sure that everything was as we expected. Courtney consistently communicated with me throughout the process and made sure any adjustments were documented. We have a beautiful pool that we can wait to spend many years enjoying.

The project started in March and we just completed it in October. We were promised to be swimming in May and we opened the pool in August. There were numerous problems and delays with this large project. The gas company was forced to shut off our gas when the plumber that was hired left a gas leak. The fire department was called and left stains throughout our house and there was no response from Mud Slingers to resolve this problem. We did all repairs on our own. Throughout the Summer we were promised finish dates and those promises were broken again and again. tThe project manager was fired in the middle of the project and we learned about it through another customer of Mud Slingers. The owner of the company is very poor at communicating and extraordinarily unprofessional. I would not recommend using this company.

Response from Mudslingers Pool and Patio
Once again we want to apologize like we have been doing all year long due to construction delays. Unfortunately we can not control the weather. It has been one of the coldest wettest seasons in Indiana history. For the type of work that we do it is 100% outside at the mersey of the weather. Especially on a project of this magnitude including gunite swimming pool, pool house, out door living space, knee wall, custom grill center, fire pit, putting green, custom paver patio ect. There are a lot of variables on a project like that not including the weather. A miss-communication/ homeowner misunderstanding how the process works. The owner of Mudslingers only does estimating and sales. Once that is complete with him it moves on to one of the selected project managers due to the geographic of the job location. Mudslingers owner has no knowledge of day to day operations. Mudslingers hired a new project manager fr spring who resume was adequate. As the season went on we realized on several projects including this one, it was not being completed, with the items that needed to be completed. It was brought to the owners attention that the project manager was not completing those items, so he was let go. All of his projects were assigned to different managers. In all construction based jobs, you will always have problems and delays that comes with the territory being outdoors and the weather. However a few months of delays with construction for a product that you will have for decades to come is well worth the trade. We install top quality products with the end result being a beautiful finish. The end result is the same, excellent, beautiful, completed job. Pictures say a thousand words.

Be extremely careful before you select this company. Our experience with this company has been one of the worst of any service contractors during more than 30 years of home ownership. What started out as a happy and optimistic project to install a pool has turned out to be an absolute nightmare. I am taking the time to write this so that future customers do not fall prey the deceptive practices of this company. You should also read the review posted on August 21, 2013 by another customer. We had a similar experience. The company’s rude response to that posting is typical. If everything goes well and or you don’t pick up on their poor quality of work, they will be nice to you, but if otherwise, they will deny any wrongdoing and be very adversarial and rude. You may think your getting a good price, but they are in a hurry and will cut corners. We have heard of yet other homeowners who had similar experiences. If one customer had a bad experience, one can chalk it up to chance, but this looks like a pattern with several customers having bad experiences. (See also the customer review posted on Nov 7, 2011). Pick a company that has a better record and can handle themselves with grace when things don't go their way. The Details: We interviewed several companies, and decided to go with Mudslingers as they agreed to still build the pool late in the season, when all other companies declined to start a pool in November (now we know why). Mudslingers said most likely the pool would be completed before Thanksgiving. Digging was started on Nov 16th, and it was not until the end of May for the pool to pass inspection (they failed twice- and they never posted the construction permit as required by law). Now and more than 18 months later, though the pool is usable, there are many quality issues and the work that we contracted for is still incomplete. They violated the Carmel Zoning Ordinance and at first refused to admit it, until the Carmel Inspector’s office made them submit new plans. In order to pass inspection, they had to cut off the concrete deck behind our diving board so now instead of the originally planned 3 foot deck behind the diving board, there is only 1 foot and not enough room to safely walk behind it. We are still awaiting a solution to this, as the deck in its present state is an unacceptable and unsafe situation. There are also multiple other quality issues such as the grade of the concrete pool deck causing water to run towards the house, crumpling coping, poor concrete finish with sharp edges that have caused cuts to swim suits and kids’ toes. Other pool contractors, who have reviewed the job to give estimates on correcting the problems, have commented on the poor quality of their work. Even their own pool cover subcontractors who came out to fix the cover installation, which Mudslingers originally tried to install themselves, commented that the cover had been installed improperly. There were problems right from the beginning: no pre-construction meeting to discuss the plans, as promised, just a stand up hurried discussion before they started digging. After the digging was complete, we noticed that the position of the pool did not correspond to the preconstruction drawing, but they ignored our comments. We at first figured they knew what they were doing. But once the concrete was poured the problem became more obvious, and our measurements showed the pool concrete deck intruded into the Carmel restricted easement zone. We tried to point this out to Brian and Kim, but they told us it would be ok, in spite of our protests. The Carmel Inspectors office became suspicious, and made them resubmit new plans. So finally they had to admit that they had built too far into the easement. In the meantime Kim retaliated and stopped all work on our pool, which left us with an uncovered pool, in December with the heater running full blast- no instruction given to us on how to adjust the heater or the pump. Then we smelled gas coming from the heater and the gas company confirmed a gas leak on Dec 10th. The Gas Company said it was the responsibility of Kim’s plumber to fix the leak. Kim refused to send his plumber out for several days. His emailed response to our email asking him to address the gas leak was: “blah”. (That's right, we can post the actual email- and other emails of less than civil responses- if he denies it). Finally on Dec 14th (4 days later) we contacted the subcontractor directly who came out to repair the gas leak. Kim afterwards sent us an angry email calling us “unprofessional” for bypassing his office to get the leak repaired because it was a ‘minor leak”. But did he ever evaluate the leak or tell us, the customer, that it was nothing to worry about? Answer: No. We finally got the cover on the pool and they stopped all work before Christmas. Our backyard looked like the aftermath of a tornado, with a deep pit, which they left open with exposed pipes, and which posed an injury risk for the neighborhood children. Meanwhile we had paid Kim 90% of the contracted money for the pool. Brian said he would not be back until March, but then 2 days after New Years Day, he showed up unannounced in the snow with a concrete saw, wanting to cut down our diving board deck so that he could pass inspection. He gave us no explanation as to other options. We were uncomfortable with that unplanned act and potential defacement to the deck so asked him to come back after we had a chance to explore our options. Well, that probably made them even more mad. Kim had said that Brian was in charge of our project. So we communicated we Brian for 3 months without a consistent response, then he said Kim was back in charge. It was not until the end of April that they came out to restart work on our pool. Kim used tactics to delay work such as sending messages to my expired email address and claiming that he got no response. We had notified them well in advance and had already exchanged emails with the new address- so there was no excuse. They wanted us to approve cutting the diving bell deck down in order to pass inspection, or they would not move ahead with the project. We had a backyard that was shambles since November, the pool was not complete and we had already paid Kim over $40,000. “Pools of Fun” was gracious, came to look at the mess and was willing to complete the job, but they could not provide any guarantees as to what was already done. So we were hostages to Mudslingers as they had all the money, held the warranties to the equipment and work they started. Well, their delay tactics worked and we finally agreed to temporally accept a truncated dive-board deck so that they could pass inspection. Kim promised as part of the agreement to do something to correct the narrow deck and fix the other quality issue on our punch list. It was not until May 22, 2013 that we passed inspection. As soon as we passed inspection, they did a very rough grade and then immediately said we did not owe them the remaining $4110 still due, and basically abandoned the project. However, the $4110 discount will not cover fixing the work that still has to be done and the safety and quality issues. We are still waiting for resolution of the easement issue so that we can have a safe sized deck behind the diving board and have the other quality issues fixed (poorly graded rough and crumbling concrete, pitted crumbling coping, etc.) . So far, 18 months after starting the project, they have not come back to complete what they promised and the project is not complete.
Description of Work: We contracted with Mudslingers to put in a in-ground pool. We warned them beforehand of the Carmel Zoning Ordinance restrictions but they were careless and violated the Carmel easement restrictions anyways. At first Kim and Brian refused to admit their error. They finally had to admit their mistake when the county called them on it. The error caused them to delay work on our project and it took them six months and 3 attempts to pass inspection for the pool. Although the pool has passed inspection, more than 18 months after start of construction, Mudslingers has not corrected many of the quality and safety issues they promised to take care of. They credited $4110 to our bill, before abandoning the project, but that will not cover the remaining quality and safety issues that we have to hire someone else to fix.

The homeowner is correct in that we didn't pass an inspection. The concrete crew miss read the print and poured an additional 6 inches into the easement. We spoke to the city and rectified the problem. The reason the job took so long is that we stared it one season then finished it the next season. We had to shut down for the winter. There isn't anything that we can do about the Indiana weather. The additional items that the homeowner requested were landscaping, decorative rock ect... Which are not induced in our standard contract, it reads rough grade service only. Despite the items not being in the contract MudSlingers proceeded to write a very generous credit for the customers misunderstanding on what was included in the contract. The additional landscaping was clearly told the homeowner that Mudslingers does not preform those types of services. The pool is 100 % functional and running perfectly. Despite the numerous phone calls and emails from the homeowner saying the pool is leaking, pump not working, gas leak ect... Mudslingers promptly went out there to check out each phone call and email to find out that nothing was wrong. It is not always a good idea for a homeowner to get on you tube and Google to check up on construction processes. Each builder has their own construction process to get from A to B. That does not mean that is is in-correct. Not every construction company will operate exactly the same way or same process to get from A to B. Just because you are looking up on You tube and Goggle different process doesn't make you an expert in every construction process.

EDIT: April 26th 2014- Per the Service Providers response to my reveiw: Another lie, I spoke with the 2 companies I had come out to my home and they both said they absolutely did not contact Mud Slingers to sub contract out work they do not complete. They were both very angry, they have full capability of all work scope and quot;in-houseand quot;-- Further more, i received another e-mail on Saturday morning with excuses about getting my request and other requests confused. AGAIN, you have been warned. I purchased a new home early this year. The home had an older pool, because I have no prior experience in pool ownership and I knew the pool needed a lot of work so I reached out to a number of companies. On Friday, April 18th I called and gave all of my info to the receptionist. I was told the estimator would reach out to me in the next few days to schedule a visit. After not hearing from them, I called on April 24th AM and had to re-give all of the prior information which leads me to believe the information wasn't saved or may have been lost. (Not a big deal to me at this point, a bit annoyed but I understand it's a busy season for pool companies.) Today, April 25th I receive the below e-mail. I wanted to let you know that I spoke with my estimator about your pool. He wanted me to give you numbers based off what he saw. This is all included in the number below. :) remove existing paint/plaster, re-plaster white marcite, bond kote, prep, clean, epoxy inject your cracks, new coping, new tile, paint blasting, pressure washing and repair your bond beam wall. $37,570.00 for the concrete deck to tear out and replace it is a flat rate of $8.50 per square foot. If we pour back less than 320 sq. ft. then it is an additional $200.00 for the under load minimum, that is what I am charged form the concrete company on a small load. I hope all is well. :) I hesitated to respond, but I wanted to notify them that I had already had a few companies out to actually look at the pool and was quoted between 15-17k from two other companies. So i responded that I would rather work with a company that took the time to come visit. I quickly received the below e-mail in response: That is what my estimator gave me after he said he came out there. Good luck. :) Thanks, Courtney Here is my problem now, apparently this company came to my home, didn't notify me and had to enter my locked backyard to draw up an estimate. In my opinion this is completely unprofessional. They do have a lot of great reviews, which is exactly why I contacted them. I'm so upset that they entered my yard without calling first. I feel like the quote is so extreme as well. I don't deny the pool is in bad condition, but how can 2 other companies offer less than half the amount? I'm willing to assume the response will include something about the lack of quality the and quot;cheaperand quot; companies will do...which I won't buy. The other companies also have outstanding reviews on Angie's List. Overall just disappointed.

this is to the consumer who is unhappy with our bid, we did not ourselves come out to the site or need to because 2 of the companies that you had already contacted who did come out contacted us prior to you contact us to ask our opinion & our interest in taking some of the scope of work on that project that they don't do in-house so they typically sub to us because we can handle all facets of the project if needed. the number we bid is for all scopes of work included & for you not to get a bid then when the job starts & thru out the process then continually say "o well we didn't know this so we will have a change order for extra costs" which has became a common practice in the construction industry but that's not how we operate, so the number we bid is the final price unless the homeowner makes extra changes themselves, even if the bid was low then I would eat the cost. so sorry for the confusion of the receptionist part for she didn't no the back story. again apologize for the confusion have a great summer

First, we visited the Mudslingers office and talked with Kim Harper, the president/owner, about the pool installation process, the product that Mudslingers had to offer, and even viewed the equipment (filter, heater, lights, samples of the liners and autocovers). We were impressed by the quality of product that Mudslingers had to offer as well as the knowledge and experience they had to offer. We appreciated their candor regarding chlorine pools versus salt water pools. After the visit to the Mudslingers office, we decided to hire Mudslingers to install our pool. In July, the crew showed up and they worked HARD! I've never seen such hard workers! Plus, they were very courteous. They dug the hole and started construction of the walls in ONE DAY! They took care of the permits and the inspections were done very timely. All in all, the construction, including the concrete, was completed in 4 weeks. After the pool was complete, Brian Miller came for our and quot;Pool Schooland quot; session. Kim even stopped by on a couple of occasions (after construction of the pool) to check to make sure there were no leaks and to help us when we were having and quot;newbieand quot; problems with the new setup. We've been quite impressed with how responsive the Mudslingers staff has been. We are very happy with our Mudslingers pool. The salt system is so nice and it's pretty easy from a maintenance perspective. We drop off water samples at the Mudslingers office and get a printout telling us how to care for the pool. We would definitely recommend Mudslingers to family and friends looking to install a pool.

Would I build with them again? Definitely! All in all I am very happy with the work provided by Mudslingers. We had a few hiccups along the way, but the end result is a gorgeous heated salt water pool with lights and under concrete auto cover with a sense and dispense system. The maintenance is awesome. Very easy. Everyone warned us that it would be horrible and it has not been at all. I believe the Sense and Dispense system has alleviated much of the pool worries and drama. We built during the second rainiest season in history so they were behind schedule. Kim is very responsive to emails and texts. Brian is not as responsive because he is the one actually digging etc. There were a handful of days that I thought they were coming and they did not, and that would frustrate me but still despite the horrendous rain the entire pool was done in 1 month (verses 2-3 weeks quote time). It WOULD have been nice to get a quick text saying they couldn't come because the ground was wet, etc. I think it was obvious to them but not to me. Tips: 1) Kim is hilarious and a smart alec. Don't take it personally. He's trying to be funny. That said, he like anyone, would like some common courtesy and respect. He quickly became my texting buddy and a friend. I heart Kim. 2) If you need to talk to Brian, call him, don't text. He is a super sweet guy and extremely meticulous about the pool. I saw him readjust the pool several times because it was 1/8th of an inch off. That means something these days!...But he IS busy. Call and leave a message and he will call you at 7 am or 7 pm. 3) Expect the and quot;rough gradeand quot; to be and quot;roughand quot;. It's like mountain rough. It's not baseball field rough. You will need to hire someone to Harley rake it afterwards which costs around $300.00 4) Save for new sod. It cost us $2500 to replace our torn up yard. Just plan on it in the first place so it doesn't lead to stress. 5) Expect to see them on and off. Maybe five days in a row, and then not for a week...then one day, then not for a week etc. They haven't forgotten about you. They just have 10 other customers too. They will get you done in time. It is a process....Step D can't get done before step C. 6) Expect a delay here and there. Rain sucks. It makes everyone miserable. Just realize that it will stop one day :) 7) I wish I could have looked into my crystal ball and just trusted it to work out, but I was super OCD about it and freaked out...it was fine of course. I felt like Kim was right there for anything I needed. He WANTS people to be happy. He doesn't like upset people anymore than anyone would. He was very responsive to anything I had a problem with. Any issue I had would get cleared up immediately. Since the pool was built he has checked on us several times.I'm the first to admit that it's scary getting a pool. It's a huge expense and you want to make sure you have selected the right person. Kim and Brian have pride in their work. They gave us the most pool for our money. It's beautiful, relaxing and fun. Absolutely no regrets about getting the pool or choosing Mud Slingers.

This was the second pool that we have built and the first experience was just ok. We didn't want to go back to the company that put in our pool at our previous house, so we started researching companies and decided on Mudslingers. We had a GREAT experience and would highly recommend them to others and would use them again ourselves if we needed to. They were nice, professional, responsive, showed up when they said they would, and completed the job in a timely manner. When we changed our minds about something, it was never a problem. When we had questions, they were always patient and good about getting us the answers we needed to make a decision. A pool is a huge investment and can be a stressful project. They made it a very smooth project for us!

Horrible customer service, horrible workmanship, and horrible communication. I see as of 8/12/13 this company is listed as an and quot;unwilling participantand quot;. How convenient. I started with the BBB (got nowhere) and found that other locals (including dissatisfied Mud Slingers customers) thought Angie's List to be the best. From the beginning, the painstaking process of dealing with constant miscommunication set the tone for the entire project. The unwillingness to inform and resolve issues started at the top with the Owner/President and infiltrated from Crew Supervisor, to Contractors, and finally the Office Manger. Not only could they not communicate effectively with me, my husband I found that the lack of organization and follow through existed between members/employees of the company itself. There were flaws in every aspect of my pool build, aside from the initial dig and the electrical run. When they did show up, often time not as indicated and very much sporadically, crews struggled to know which project they were working on or even present the skills capable of completing said duties. On two occasions, there was so much internal tension between crew members they literally stopped and left. Of the less important issues, plumbing and gas lines were ran wrong and had to be fixed. Drainage pipes that were cut into and assured to be removed are still in my backyard. The vermiculite pool base was improperly installed from the beginning which has led to further issues (incorrect depth, patch jobs, no sanding, and no debris removal prior to liner install - rocks, pea gravel, clumps, voids, and cracks -, including a drain bucket at the bottom of the pool that is now a void). The nightly light show accentuates every imperfection and every time a guest enters our pool they ask if they are supposed to feel rocks and voids under the liner. NO. Now we get to the concrete pour...everything appeared to go well until visual inspection by us (No...Mud Slingers was never onsite to proactively inspect or catch discrepancies until after the fact). The deck jets and handrail housings were completely misaligned. While they could not fix the deck jets (and weren't willing to), they did offer to core drill and reset the handrails. Only problem is the rail in the deep end was so far off that even a 6 inch beauty ring won't mask the botched concrete. The crew they sent worked for an hour, left a mess that etched the auto-cover header board, and never came back. It gets better, there is severe cracking (not microchip as one can expect) and area's where aggregate is chunked out (due to crappy saw joints) or was over blasted. The main guy on-site for the concrete pour noted the cement had set to long and fast. After the fact, Mud Slingers noted that they had set the handrail housings this way in the past but it was never right...then why start again on my project? The concrete company did try to work with us and reset the handrails but is ultimately held up by Mud Slingers. We agreed to some temporary fixes, which don't look good for this price of a project in which they guarantee. They were to provide a concrete warranty (which Mud Slingers failed to sign) and still left a less than desirable product. While all this is going on, communication grows more distant and the Owner, while acknowledging defects, will not communicate any other way than sarcastic and false emails. His comment was and quot;he's just the sales guy, it's the residential supervisor's responsibilityand quot;. Ironically, his business filing states otherwise. While the and quot;Residential Supervisorand quot; took notes of our dissatisfaction, to date no one has committed to a resolution. Each going against what the other has relayed (seems like a game to me). We have a liner base that will have to be repaired and defective concrete that we have to and quot;liveand quot; with or jerk out at our expense. Nevermind that once they filled the pool and failed to maintain it or teach us promptly, it began to unbalance, had to be shocked. They sent the same crew that slapped the liner over botched, unfinished work and they still didn't have enough salt. My husband had to purchase salt to get it to the right level. He also had to correctly program the pump in their absence. Finally, we had and quot;Pool Schooland quot;. Basically our system will take care of itself...except when it doesn't and we don't even have a baseline knowledge on pool maintenance. Luckily we have internet access. We also found that the inspections that took place by our county designee must not require physical observation???. The day the Final Inspection report was made we had no handrails nor required safety equipment. There was never even a permit posted (but it was filed). I'm home based and know every vehicle/person entering and exiting my property. I also had the time to take pictures and record this lovely process. So 8/19/13, after my final contact with both Mud Slingers owners, we get an email from the Office Manager saying our project is nearly complete and only requires minor touch-ups. Really???!!! They've failed to complete our contract regarding specific performance and standard workmanship. The and quot;1 year no questions askedand quot;...do you really think I would want your company back since you couldn't get it right the first time? They lack competency, resolve, and follow-through. And, general customer service..ha! It looks as if 2010 was their best year...buyer beware...do your homework and get a 2nd and 3rd quote. It's too large of a project to be dissatisfied. We also learned we are not the only dissatisfied customers in Indy, contrary to only one other negative review from 2011 (which sounds shockingly familiar). Please post, honestly, and help someone else avoid the heartache. I will post pictures as soon as I figure out how to.

Response from Mudslingers Pool and Patio
Due to the ridiculous fabrication of 98 % of this post is due to the fact that the homeowner has no clue on what is going on with the construction, or the process of construction that MudSlingers uses. We will not waste anyone's time with a response to such nonsense.

After doing our homework and shopping potential pool construction companies tirelessly, We went with the company that perfectly fit our needs, not to mention unblemished reputation we were looking for. Mud Slingers Pool and Patio. I can not praise the professionalism and dedication of the entire company, especially the CEO Mr. Kim Harper. we longed to have a gunite pool constructed but every company in the city and surrounding counties either could not accommodate our specific needs, or exceeded our expense. We began to wonder if our expectations and dream of owning a gunite pool were impossible. We were wrong. From our first contact with Mudslingers Pool and Patio, Mr. Kim Harper personally sat down with my wife and I more than once during the planning and construction process , Mr. Harper was punctual as well as willing to work around our busy schedule. More impressive with us is that Mr. Harper is a hands on C.E.O. And not simply a salesman. Mr. Harper was there often for the planning, design and construction, and completion of our new gunite pool. We could not have felt more at ease with the entire process. This pool is built to last for decades to come. Mud Slingers went above and beyond our expectations in every aspect of the project. If you want the job done right without worry, I would highly recommend Mr. Harper and his team of professionals at Mud Slingers Pool and Patio. Your family will have years of enjoyment in your beautiful gunite swimming pool!

The pool building experience with Kim Harper and Brian Miller was exactly what I expected. Great pool, very knowledgeable staff, and experienced owners. This is what you get when you work with owner/operators. After asking questions about our lifestyle and family, they recommended we go with a salt water pool with the sense and dispense chemical system. We love the pool, the system, and the LED lights. They walked us through the whole project before they started to help set future expectations. Any questions or concerns we had along the way were discussed and handled in a professional manner. If you are looking to build a pool, look no further than mudslingers. We are very happy with the final results of the pool.

In 2011, We used Mud Slingers Pool and Patio for a Custom Gunite Pool and stamped concrete deck with fire pit. We had such a wonderful experience with Mud Slingers and received so many compliments on our pool and patio, This year we decided that we were going to add a spa, outdoor kitchen, and pool house. It was a non brainer that we were going to call Kim with Mud Slingers to do the job. It was another wonderful experience and we couldn't be happier with the final product, it was just what we wanted. They just completed it all, and now we wait for the warm weather to get here! Many of our friends and family compliment the look of our backyard and I always tell them you can't go wrong with the quality of work you get from Mud Slingers Pool and Patio. Thanks to Kim and his crew for yet another job well done!

Every request we made to Mudslingers Pool and Patio was addressed. It just feels good knowing your dealing with a company that can get the job done correctly!
Description of Work: Mud Slingers designed & installed our stamped concrete deck & vinyl pool without any major issues. Their professional experience helped guide us through the selection process, and then the construction phase and made the entire process worry free and painless. Communication was easy & consistent throughout the job. Phone calls, emails, text messages, voice mails, these guys know the importance of good communication. Kim & Brian have the experience it takes to make a homeowner feel at ease. Even with weather delays our deck & pool were completed in a very reasonable amount of time. These guys will work until dark to get the job done. Upon completion, (Owner) Kim Harper took the time to bring the local representative and the manufacturer representative out to our house to explain in great detail how the "Sense & Dispense" system works. We never thought pool maintenance could be so hands free and love the ability to monitor our pool chemicals & temperature via our computer and smart phone.
