Kim came out and explianed how the water softner system worked, and did a water test. The water test showed what was in the water. Kim the explained about the drinking water system, which would make the drinking water even much better. Kim said they could even hook the system to the refrigerator for clean, clear ice. Rick came out to install the two systems, he had no trouble with the water softner system. The drinking water system was no trouble to hook up to the sink, but he could not hook it up to the refrigerator. So we do not have the clean, clear ice cubes or drinking water. Once the systems were installed no one has checked to see if every thing is ok. I may be returning their drinking water system, I didn't get what I expected. .
Description of Work: Kim came out & did a water test , she then explained how Culligan could make the water better. She explained it in a way you can understand. Rick came out to install the system, knew exactly what to do & did it.

I am glad Kim was able to set a follow up visit with you to discuss a secondary solution on the r/o connecting to the ice maker. Since the home is a manufactured home & originally the line cannot be ran under the home due to potential freezing.

I contacted Culligan to have someone come out to discuss the possible purchase of a water softener. The representative was on time and very professional. Of course, she ran a water test. I was expecting her to say how awful my water was but that was not the case. She indicated that my test showed that the "hardness" of the water was very average for the area. She showed me the different options, but based on my needs, I felt that she recommended the appropriate unit. She did not push me into a purchase and gave me several options on how to purchase or rent, if that was what I wanted to do. We ran over the figures of renting vs. buying a unit. Based on what my future intentions are, I opted to purchase. I would definitely recommend Culligan. There was no pressure to purchase or rent. She made me feel like I was the one who was making the decision, which hopefully I really was. : ).

Since I have a Culligan softener I decided to give them a call. Dan Brown came and examined the unit. Mr. Brown told me that we purchased our unit in 2002. Our unit has a life expectancy of 15 years. Dan tested the unit and stated that it is in good working order. He then asked me if unit was giving us soft water. I told him yes. Dan said our problem was some type of crack in storage tank for the salt. He told me call office and schedule a time to install new tank. Installer called on Friday to conform time between 8-12 am. on Monday. He arrived at 9am on Monday and installed new storage tank. Installer was prompt and courteous
Description of Work: Storage tank for water softener was leaking.

It went very good. The osmosis system did develop a leak, and the replacement system they put in my water softener was not working, but they did come back and fix all the problems. They were very attentive to making sure that they were completely repaired. In the end, I was very happy with the work.
Description of Work: They replaced the filters in my reverse osmosis system. They replaced an aqua sensor in my water softener. They then delivered salt and put that in as well.

The key to this problem resolution was that the old owners did not understand the importance of making customers happy and understanding their problems. The new owners do and we are happy to use their equipment.
Description of Work: We needed a new water conditioner and they came out to test the water, the water was hard and they replaced it with a new one. we had dispute later about the location where they tested the water in our house and if it was really hard.. and if we really needed a new one. After 4 years and finally a new owner of Culligan they agreed to a settlement that was fair and we appreciate the new owners.

My water softener was leaking and since it was a Culligan softener I called them. I called on a Thursday and even though I explained that it was leaking onto the floor and carpet, they said this was the earliest they could come. I called back and questioned this again and was told the same thing. So I had to pay a plumber $68 to come and turn it off to stop the leak. When I called Culligan again after the plumber had been out, I talked to Melissa who was helpful and she mentioned that they do have emergency service and could not explain why this had not been offered. She was professional and offered to take 50% off their normal cost if I wanted them to come out. I decided that seemed fair and they came out. For the most part Paul seemed OK but he did mouth off to my wife a bit when she was trying to explain how we lost water pressure in the house when he was working on the unit. He said that the inlet valve was broken and would need to be replaced by a plumber. He did get the leak repaired but could not turn it on until the valve was replaced. So another call to the plumber for another $68. Upon inspection, the plumber said the valve was not broken and if it was broken, it would just turn and turn. In fact it was fully operational. On his write-up the plumber said it was stuck but not broken. So Culligan cannot tell the difference between a broken or stuck valve. Paul turned it many times while he was here. Paul also asked if I wanted to file a claim for the water damage. I had decided not to until I got stuck with another plumbing bill. I then talked to the service manager, John Cox, and he said that cutting their service fee in half was all they would do for me. I then said I would not be using Culligan in the future and hung up. So because Culligan did not take care of the leak in the first place, I had two additional plumbing calls for $68 apiece, not to mention some water damage. The only reason that my ratings are not worse is that Melissa was professional and they did finally repair the unit.
Description of Work: My water softener was leaking and since it was a Culligan softener I called them. They repaired the unit but not in a timely manner as explained below.

Customer service was bad, I was disrespected, basically called a liar about the scratch. I was promised extra bags of salt for the inconvenience and haven't seen them. All in all I would not recogmend this company.
Description of Work: This company has gone downhill. I had culligan in a home 15 years ago and received great service. This time the initial installation person was rude, scratched my storm door and installed the water softener wrong. He said "I have good news and bad news" "the good news is is that your softener is installed but the bad news is there is a crack in the head of the unit" He said he could come back tomorrow to fix it. I had taken the day off and needed to work the following day. He was upset because he had to come back. I telephoned the sales person after he left in a huff and put in a complaint. The installer came back with a camera taking pics of the scratch, rude and upset. He replaced the cracked head but basically called me a liar about the storm door scratch. I did not see him actually scratch the door but I know it was not there prior. It took over a week to receive a manual. Next week I discovered a leak at the bottom of the air conditioner next to the water softener. I called Culligan. They came out and said it had nothing to do with the water softener. I called a plumber and he confirmed but he said the water softener was installed wrong. First it was blocking the hot water tank and the softener drain was installed without a air gap on the discharge line from the softener. After receiving this information I called the manager John Cox. A third service man was sent out who was very professional (the only one) who moved the tanks away from the hot water tank and installed a air gap. All in all the experience was bad.

After 10 years our Culligan water softner needed to be replaced. While I was disappointed at the need for a replacement in only 10 years, I like many features of the Culligan water softner, such as its very soft water with extremely low use of salt. This makes it extremely healthy for my family so I wanted another one. After installation, we noticed pipes sweating heavily, so I insulated the pipes. Soon thereafter we still noticed major water runoff. The water runoff was so bad, it damaged the drywall in our garage, needing it to be replaced. I called Culligan for a service call. They promptly replaced the pipes, with a completely different kind of pipe AND coupling. I found out that the pipes and couplings originally used were KNOWN to be defective. The company, however, instead of contacting all customers with these connectors, are waiting for them to fail. I was told this by an honest Culligan representative. The company was very concerned about the damage to my drywall. They took pictures and asked me to sign a waiver of claims after the work was done. Most people would probably sign the form thinking it was part of the normal work process. It was not the standard form saying “work complete.” My painter fixed the drywall at a very small cost to me, as part of a larger project, so I did not feel right charging Culligan for the damage. That being said, asking me to sign a waiver was extremely unethical. Most customers probably do not know what they were signing. Culligan should actively seek to replace the defective parts and not wait for them to fail. I am glad it was within my warranty period.
Description of Work: I replaced a broken water softner. It then began to leak and cause drywall damage. Culligan performed the new install and the leak repairs. Overall, I like the water softner, but was extremely disappointed with the service and unwillingness to be practive about a known defect.

They came out on time, and explained the workings of the system we had. They showed me what he replaced, how they replaced it, etc. The rep was very courteous, and explained all questions we had, and was done within 45 minutes. Paul Pruitt was the service rep and he did an excellent job!

Great, Kim was a excellent consultant.
Description of Work: I called for a softner inspection that cost $19.95. Kim the consultant made a appt. at 8am. At 7:50AM she called to verify that she would be there in 10 minutes. She was right on time. She was very friendly and professional. She checked out my softnerand called for additional info. on it.Itwas a older softner ,which she was'nt 100% sure of ,so that's why she called for info. She tested my water and let me know it was ok.She said since she was'nt 100% sure of my softner ,that she would not charge me for the inspection. And that she would have a tech .call me to ask any questions about my softner.she did'nt try to push me into buying a new softner. But she did leave info. and did tell me what the co. offered.

Arrived as promised even when the driver had an emergency to attend to, he still made the trip to my home first. Carried 12 bags of salt from the driveway to the basement, and only put in softner the amount that was needed to run the sytem appropriately. Left behind no mess either.

Because we had an alarm going off in the middle of the night every other day, a Culligan salesman had told me to call the service manager directly. I did so, service manager was rude and unhelpful asking "what did I want him to do?" and "no he could not help schedule service any faster." At this point I admit I did become exasperated with him and let him know that what I wanted was for Culligan to stand behind its product and help solve this problem and maybe as a gesture of goodwill do the service call as a warranty call. He refused every one of thses requests and I had to call the appt desk myself (he did not even transfer me). Took over one week to schedule an appointment, explained I needed first call or early morning appointment, they showed up at 12:40. While the "unit" is now "fixed" in that the alarm has stopped, unit now regenerates every 3 days manually, and the aqua sensor we paid a premium for is not connected. Note that this unit has never worked well and neither the two different repairmen nor the salesman can explain why we still have hard water deposits all over our fixtures other than the sensor wasn't regenerating enough and it "should be okay now" btw, it's not.
Description of Work: Repairman disconnected the "aqua sensor" from a 5 year old Culligan Water Softener ($1500) because it was causing an alarm to go off in the middle of the night every time the softener regenerated. (Note: this part would have arguably been covered under warranty but we are 8 months out of the warranty period.) We had the unit looked at 2 years ago, while it was still under warranty, because our water was still hard and we had deposits all over our fixtures but supposedly the sensor was not the problem then (that visit cost me $115 and the repairman's only suggestion was to disconnect the sensor at that time; wish I would have listened).

They charge $7 a bag and $4.95 delivery fee, but the more I buy the less expensive it is. The cheapest price is $8.99 a bag then it depends on how many I order. They were very good at explaining the program and how it works. I can either have them deliver on a monthly basis or as needed. They were helpful in explaining the cost difference and the benefits of their salt versus the salt I would buy at a supermarket. They called to remind me of the delivery. The gentleman showed up when promised and did what he was suppose to do. They also check the system as part of the delivery service, along with loading the salt into the softener.

The thing that irritates me the most is the lack of customer service. If you have a complaint there is no one to complain to other that the receptionist that answers the phone or the service person. I am done with this company.
Description of Work: Routine filter change for a reverse osmosis drinking water system. After service person left, water flow was less than normal. The next day it was even less. I called and told the person that answers the phone the problem and they said it would be the next available appointment- in three days. I said no it needed to be the next day. Well they said they would have to fit me in so would give me no time frame. This company does not call before coming (in this day and age of cell phones). I was not home by late afternoon to take a son for a medical appointment I did not want to cancel. So I called back to set up another appointment. Another 3 days wait. I was furious because by this time I had no water coming out of my system and I had a suspicion that something was not turned back on after the filter change. When the service person did finally arrive a week later it was indeed a stopcock that had not been turned to resume the flow of water. I stood and watched his every move because quite frankly I did not trust him.. A small apology was given that he had forgotten to do this step.

Initially got information at the annual Indy home show and then researched the Internet for additional information. Although Culligan was much higher in price than the competition, the sales pitch of un-paralleled service leaned me toward Culligan. The salesman, Paul L. called after the home show and said I would still receive the home show discount on a display model that was at the show if I bought right now. I had pretty much decided anyway so agreed to it. The installation had to be done within the next two days of purchase to get that price also, so I agreed to take a half-vacation day for the Friday installation. On the day of installation, the installers called and said they were running behind schedule and would be a couple hours late - said not a problem. They then called back later and said they were even further behind and wanted to push the installation off until the following week (apparently the installation isn't that important to close the sale). I had taken vacation time for this and declined the request. The two installers showed up about 5:30 pm and were very professional. They apologized for the delay and jumped right into the job and were finished within 2 hours, leaving the area exactly as they had found it. Kudos to the installers. Culligan offers a free salt program for the first year after installation and then continues the program for a monthly fee after the one year. I initially told my salesman that I wasn't interested in the program, but then changed my mind a couple months later. I called Paul and inquired if it was too late to take advantage of their program and he indicated that it was no problem and he would stop by to sign me up. I called 4 additional times and never heard back from him. I finally gave up and dropped it. I e-mailed the salesman the information for the gentleman that referred me for the system and he has yet to hear or receive anything from Culligan. I am happy with the way the softener operates but would recommend going with a less expensive system because all you're paying for is the perceived service.

It was great. The service man called me about a half hour before he arrived. He did the work quickly and cleaned up after himself. This is the first time I have needed service and it was great.
Description of Work: I rent my water softener from them. They left a voice mail message for me that their person who delivered my slat reported that the softener was not using salt so something was wrong and they needed to schedule a service call. I called them and they had a man come out. He fixed whatever was wrong (which actually turned out to be two things). There was no charge to me since it is a rented machine.

Our ancient rental unit stopped working and was judged by Culligan to be unrepairable because there were no parts for the out-of-manufacture type of valve in it -- by name, a Fleck valve. We talked to Culligan and other vendors and decided to replace our Culligan rental system with one purchased from a Culligan competitor -- which we did. Culligan removed the old unit, which their man said was junk, except for the brine tank, which is still in use as a rainwater collector. Unfortunately for us, Culligan claims that the (junk) equipment was never removed and continued to bill us for the rental (which was unrepairable and would not have been operational had it not been removed) despite our best efforts to get someone to listen to reason. Ultimately, we were sued by the debt collector and have counter sued the collector and Culligan. While we are absolutely sure of winning this, the fact that my credit rating was damaged and we had to hire an attorney, all because Culligan relied on their faulty record-keeping and stonewalling instead of common sense and reasonable discussion, is my reason for filing this bad report.
Description of Work: Culligan refused to negotiate or even discuss a dispute over a failed rental unit that they removed, then continued to charge for. They turned the account over to a collection agency, who also stonewalled all attempts to reach an understanding, then damaged my credit rating with a report to the credit bureaus. Finally, the credit bureau hired an attorney to sue us for "damages".

Culligan men were very nice and punctual. They worked out a reasonable handling fee too remove the old softener. We purchased a new one from them and we're happy with our choice and with Culligan. We also purchased a service agreement with them. We worked with Steve York , a manager, and he was on site with the technician.
Description of Work: They had to remove a water softener that was in the house we purchased. They tried to get the one in the house to recycle and it would just not work. This was not included in the home warranty or inspected by the home inspector.
