Every time I have taken my car in, the work has been performed promptly and efficiently. I am always astounded by the prices there too - always way more affordable than the dealership or a quick-oil-change shop. And their oil changes always last much longer than the quick-stop shops!
Description of Work: I have been using All Star Tire for about 2 years now. They have replaced two tires, fixed a loose oil shield, and done many oil changes.

 + 0 moreIt went very well! I called all around Indianapolis for the make/model of tire that I needed. They were by far the cheapest (the next closest was $75 higher, with the most expensive being $200 higher). I had heard from a friend that they were good but wanted to check Angie's List just in case, and it turned out they had an A rating as well as an AL discount. Dave and his crew were very courteous. They provide shuttle service to and from the shop if you work downtown. I work a little further out than they usually travel, but they gave me a free shuttle anyway. Also, I had asked for them to check my EGR valve because something under my hood was making a God-awful noise. It turned out to be a blown gasket, but they made a couple of adjustments- at no cost- and at least the noise is no longer present. I will definitely return to All Star Auto.
Description of Work: I purchases four new tires and had them installed/balanced. I also had asked about a loud, whiny sound that I thought was the EGR valve but what turned out to be a blown upper intake gasket. They made adjustments and fixed the noise at no additional cost.

 + -1 moreI was involved in a car crash going home from work. A driver behind me didn't stop quickly enough when I and other cars ahead of me stopped for a traffic light. The bump didn't seem so severe, but it turned out that she hit my muffler which smacked into other stuff ahead of it and the whole system had to be replaced. I drove it for few days waiting for insurance claims to be processed. All Star Tire took care of the issue in less than a day. My little Forrester sounds like a Subaru again instead of a Harley. The service at All Star is great. We leave our cars there, go to work and pick them up all fixed for the drive home. Love them.

 + 0 moreI dropped my vehicle off in the morning and someone from the station gave me a ride to work. They had it all done before lunch time and even test drove the vehicle to see if anything was out of place. It all checked out great and I drove the vehicle to Cincinnati and back this weekend without a hitch. I will be using the services on my other vehicles in the future.
Description of Work: I had all four of my tires replaced. They also checked the TPMS sensors and the alignment of the vehicle. We discussed a few times what would be the best tires for my Jeep on the phone as well as at the shop. They are very aware of the difference between tires and price.

 + 0 moreIt is always a good experience - it is a family business and they are all nice.
Description of Work: I have been using All-Star for service on all of my cars for many years. I have bought tires from them as well - at 40k miles bought tires guaranteed for 70k and have 110k now and they have been good, but will need to replace in next 6 mos. They have done regular maintenance (30, 60, 90k as req'd by the manuals) on my Toyotas and cost much less than the dealer for the same work. They replaced a strut on my daughter's Volvo when she was in a minor accident. They drop me off at work downtown when I need something done, and pick me when I'm ready to leave. The only thing I would suggest for them is if you want them to check out a used car - be sure to ask them to drive it on the highway and get a feel for it and be willing to pay a little extra for it - I wish I had done that when I had them check out a car that looked good up on the lift but ended up having problems I'm sure they would have noticed had they driven it.

 + 0 moreI should start of by saying that my father is a mechanic and owns his own shop a few hours away. Therefore, I've never really had to take my cars to a mechanic before. It's hard to find someone you can trust as much as dad (or beat the family discount)! With that said, I took my wife's car in to All Star to have a routine oil change as well as have two tires repaired for a slow leak. One of the main reasons we chose them was the free shuttle to work. The guys working behind the counter were extremely nice and even offered to give me a ride to work without me even having to ask. They called me as soon as they were finished with the car and scheduled a time to come pick me up from work. We had taken the car to another repair shop about a month earlier to have the tire leak fixed and they said there was nothing wrong with the tires; although my wife was putting air in them about twice a week. I feel the other company just didn't put the effort in to solve the problem. The guys at All Star took their time and explored all possibilities and found that the leaks were caused by a bad valve stem. Overall I thought they were very professional and personable. When I can't make it to dad I'll take my vehicles to All Star.

 + -1 moreI was stunned by the friendliness and efficiency of the service. I had another reputable shop (charging twice as much) decline to mount the new tires because the run-flats are a challenge and they were afraid of damaging the tire-pressure monitoring sensors. I called All-Star ahead of time to be sure they could do the work and they assured me they could. I left the car at the shop all day, as they give free shuttle service to and from downtown locations. Dave welcomed me, took my work order and arranged the ride. I've never seen such a pleasant bunch. They really like cars, too. When I picked up my car, they had cleaned the wheels of brake dust (which my car makes in huge volumes) and seemed to have really enjoyed doing the work.
Description of Work: Unmounted worn tires and mounted and balanced 4 new run-flats on the stock 18 inch BMW rims.

 + -1 moreAfter carefully choosing the tire I wished to purchase, I initially called Discount Tire (W. 86th St.). They said they didn't have the tire I wanted, it would take a week to order, and they then tried to switch me to some cheap off-brand tire. I then visited All Star Tire. The customer service rep made an exceptional effort by calling 6 different places before successfully finding my preferred tire. The tires were delivered and installed the next day. Service was friendly, timely, and well-done. I highly recommend All Star Tire.

 + -1 moreThey were pretty honest when they told me what they thought the problem was and they told me why they couldn't fix it. They didn't try to keep repairing something thinking it would fix the problem. They did fix some other minor issues without any problems. It was relatively inexpensive. They always followed up to make sure the car was running correctly. I have taken it to them three times and I got a phone call each time. I have actually started using them for other things.
Description of Work: I used All Star Tire & Auto Service because my heater wasn't working. They fixed one problem that I had and didn't charge for the other problem because they couldn't find it. We were trying to pinpoint a problem with the heating system that is tied to the electrical system and it does it at home, but works when I take it in. They didn't want to start replacing parts and charging me money for it. We never got to the point where they could pinpoint where the problem was.

 + -1 moreMy experience was moderately positive but not overwhelmingly positive. When they looked at my tire, they didn?t pound my hubcap on all the way so as soon as I got in the car it fell off. That?s not necessarily their fault but you have to be careful to put the hubcap back on when you remove a tire. I waited a long time, about 45 minutes, even though I had an appointment. Overall, I thought they were very thorough and they diagnosed the different issues with my car. Previous providers skimmed over things and never gave me the full deal. They were supposed to get back to me once they got some things in but I had to call and follow up. I haven?t been there a whole lot but they were decently punctual for what I expect at a mechanic. I was impressed by how thorough they were.
Description of Work: I went to All Star Tire & Auto Service yesterday. They did work previously and I went in for a follow up. They replaced my engine belt and I have some more repairs to get done but the parts have to come in.

 + -1 moreThey were wonderful, Chris was great. I called today, they fit me in and fixed my car all in one day. I was impressed with their promptness. After I dropped off my car, Chris called me to discuss what needed to be done. He was not pushy and very inforamtive. I decided that I was going to wait to have my breaks replaced and he didn't try to push that on my which I appreciated. I would definately recommend them at any time!
Description of Work: My check engine light came on and I did not know what was wrong with it. They inspected my car, found that the top and bottom radiator hoses needed to be replaces, they back break light needed replacement and my rear breaks had about 2000 miles before they needed to be replaced

 + -1 moreI have usually taken my car to the dealer and so don't have much experience with independent auto service centers. I picked them using Angie's list and feel that the A rating is deserved. Service was professional and friendly.
Description of Work: I brought my Toyota Corolla in and told them I wanted them to put in a new engine air filter and to inspect the following: ball joints and dust covers brake lines and hoses brake linings/drums and brake pads discs differential oil drive belts drive shaft boots *engine valve clearance exhaust pipes and mountings fuel lines and connections fuel tank band and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses fuel tank cap gasket steering gear box steering linkage and boots *inspect nuts and bots on chassis and body I had previously had an oil change, rotated tires and new transmission fluid added - so I didn't need them to do that. I asked for an estimate on a dying passenger side door window and asked them to oil the door hinges. I dropped my car off around 7:30am and was greeted promptly, and got a ride downtown to work at no extra charge. I received a call around 11:30am and all that was needed was to clean and adjust the rear brakes. The estimate on replacing the rear window motor was $228, which was less than half of what I'd been quoted by the dealer. I decided to just go with the brake adjustment. They called at 3:25pm to say the car was ready and offered to pick me up if I needed a ride. I decided to walk since it was a nice day and it took about 25 minutes. The * items are the items that weren't checked off my list, so I assume they didn't do them. I did not ask about those items. I paid my bill and got my car. The next day I received a follow up call asking if I was happy with the service.

 + 0 moreI had a sense this was going to be a good experience when I called for a quote on new tires. I explained that I was planning to sell my car in a year and just wanted a tire that would get me through the year. The service guy gave me a recommendation and quote over the phone, which was significantly cheaper than one I got at a large chain tire store. I took my car in a few days later, confirmed my quote and left them to do the work. I also had them check the alignment as well...knowing that it was likely in need of an adjustment. As expected, it was so I opted to have that done as well. They finished the work on time and provided me with a before and after sheet showing how badly my wheels were out of alignment. The owner (I believe) of the shop personally thanked me for "the biz" before I drove off. It's refreshing to walk into a shop and get exactly when you want with no surprises. I'll be seeing them in about 3,000 miles for the free tire rotation they offer customers!
Description of Work: I had all four tires replaced and alignment adjusted on my aging 1996 BMW 318i.
