Description of Work: I needed a new hot water heater and responded to a general angie's list email about a special offer to get one installed for $850. I paid for the water heater online the day before they came out and installed it on Nov. 22. After the two techs left the house (I discovered after they took the water heater out, etc. that they were not licensed plumbers) I had to call them back in because there was no water pressure. After they corrected that there was alot of sand coming out of the bathtub faucet and kitchen faucet and they didn't know what to do about that so I called and made an appt. with a well plumber from Atlanta, IN who couldn't come out until the following week. 2 days after the water heater was installed I asked for someone to come back and reduce the temperature on the water heater and the orig. older tech named Steve came back and did it, but only after I argued with the receptionist that the manual did not clearly show how to do this under all the insulation. 2 days after this visit I discovered I had no hot water at all and so they sent out a young tech named Bailey who had to call on his phone for instructions on what to do and kept asking me "what in the world did you do to it?" 1 day after this I had no hot water again and called Mark IV stating I simply want a new water heater since obviously the installers didn't know much about plumbing to start with. The owner, named Mark called back and said he couldn't guarantee that, but he would be out the next day. Mark did come the next day, but discovered the upper half of the water heater had been drained of water and the heating unit for that part had burned up; he apologized for the inconvenience and said he would replace this tomorrrow at no extra charge, but had to get the part the next morning. Mark did come the next day and it took a few hours to replace the heating unit, but I now have hot water and a promise to make sure this heater works for the next 6 years as warranted. I'm hopeful but I won't have Mark IV come back and do any new work for me again.

 + -1 moreGreat! Jason & Todd arrived early and spent time laying down tarps and cloths to protect our flooring, before they got started, which we appreciated. After they finished the installation they also spent time going over the new system with me so that I would be familiar with the features and general operation. They worked very efficiently and we love our new furnace!
Description of Work: Removed old furnace and installed a new Trane gas furnace (95% efficient, variable speed motor). We also purchased a 10-year parts and labor warranty and a 3-visit service plan.

 + -1 moreA major component broke on 19 year old furnace. The repair firm sent a sales person who recommended 3 replacement options. Went to get another estimate and Mark IV was recommended. Best price was for selected options were with Mark IV. Three days after estimate, the installation crew came and completed furnace replacement in about 4 hours. The crew was prompt, clean and courteous. The owner was able to obtain 6 months same-as-cash financing and came to inspect work and complete financing paperwork. No cheesey salesman to deal with, only the owner.

 + -1 moreMy complaint is the price .. alone. They originally charged us $176.59. We called to question the high charge since no problems were found. I asked the lady who answered the phone the charge for this type of call; she said $59.95. I CLARIFIED whether there were ANY additional charges if NO problems were found. She said NO; it would be $59.95. I explained that we were charged $176.59, and she referred me to Mark Stansbury. He called back and advised my husband that it should have been: $65 for the 1st 1/2-hr diagnostic fee and $55 for each hour after that. He was here for 2 hrs, so the total would now be $149.09. [We have used and recommended Mark IV repeatedly over the years. They have installed two complete furnace/A/C units based on our recommendations, but we will not recommend them to anyone else -- and will not use them again.] We feel that they have been dishonest with the price charged. I feel it should have been $59.95 +1.50 for a product they used = $61.45.)
Description of Work: We asked that they check the furnace for a natural gas leak. No leak was found, and they were here for two hours. All gas appliances were shut off, and the gas meter was checked, indicating no gas leak. Also, he found the furnace underfired and adjusted that and checked the temperature rise, humidifier filter and furnace filter --all were in good condition, and nothing needed replaced. The only "product" used was a $1.50 "Super Blu leak detection."

THE HEAT EXCHANGER WAS CRACKED, IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, THEY TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING FOR ME. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT.

 + -1 moreTHEY WERE VERY RESPONSIVE INITIALLY. THEY SENT SOMEONE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THEN SENT SOMEONE ELSE TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE FOR THE WHOLE SYSTEM BY THE NEXT DAY. HOWEVER, THE SECOND ESTIMATE THEY GAVE WAS VERY VAGUE AND IT WAS UNCLEAR EXACTLY WHAT I WAS PAYING FOR. I THEN CONTACTED MARK IV ON A FRIDAY TO GET AN ITEMIZED ESTIMATE, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE IT BY MONDAY. AFTER A WEEK AND A HALF OF CALLING EVERY OTHER DAY TO GET THE ESTIMATE, IT STILL HADN'T COME (NEITHER HAD THE CONDENSING UNIT FROM THE WARRANTY PEOPLE). FINALLY AFTER 1 1/2 WEEKS, MARK OF MARK IV CALLED TO GIVE ME THE ESTIMATE AND APOLOGIZED FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. BUT BY THAT TIME, I WAS FED UP WITH THE WHOLE 3 1/2 WEEK PROCESS (W/OUT A/C) AND TOOK A BUYOUT FROM THE HOME WARRANTY PEOPLE AND TOOK MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. OVERALL, I WOULDN'T GO HERE AGAIN, ESPECIALLY IF IT WAS INVOLVED IN A HOME WARRANTY SITUATION. THE ONLY REASON THEY DIDN'T GET A "D" FROM ME WAS BECAUSE MARK CALLED AND APOLOGIZED.
Description of Work: I HAD AN AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSING UNIT COMPRESSOR GO BAD UNDER HOME WARRANTY, AND MARK IV WAS THE CONTRACTOR THAT THE WARRANTY COMPANY CONTRACTED TO PERFORM THE INSTALLATION. UNFORTUNATELY, AFTER 3.5 WEEKS DEALING WITH THE WARRANTY COMPANY IN GETTING THE UNIT, AND 1.5 WEEKS DEALING WITH MARK IV TRYING TO GET AN ESTIMATE ON THE ADDITIONAL WORK I WANTED DONE (WANTED TO GET THE EVAPORATOR COIL AND LINES REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME ON THE 17 YR. OLD UNIT), I DECIDED TO TAKE THE PAYOUT FROM THE WARRANTY COMPANY AND TAKE THE WORK TO SOMEONE WHO SEEMED INTERESTED IN ACTUALLY DOING THE WORK. THE HOME WARRANTY PUT ME IN CONTACT WITH MARK IV AND A REPRESENTATIVE FROM MARK IV WAS AT MY HOME THE NEXT DAY. HE TROUBLESHOT THE UNIT AND DETERMINED THE COMPRESSOR WAS SHORTED TO GROUND AND WOULD NEED REPLACED. I HAD A REP COME OUT A SECOND TIME TO LOOK AT GIVING ME AN ESTIMATE FOR REPLACING THE WHOLE SYSTEM AT ONE TIME, INSIDE AND OUT.
