For the condenser repair, they came out quickly and did the repair in the middle of a thunderstorm. They were prompt, courteous, professional, and the work was very well-done.
Description of Work: Last summer, the condenser in my AC unit went out. They've also replaced a blower that started to go out on the exhaust system.

The girl I talked to on the phone was very friendly and scheduled my AC service quickly. The day of the service i stayed home all afternoon. My appt. was for sometime between 2 and 4 pm The serviceman called about 3:45 and said he was somewhere on the west side. Did I want him to reschedule or to come. I felt bad asking him to come ahead, but I had waited all day and didn't want to do it again. When he arrived he was very friendly, made friends with the dogs, and used booties to keep the carpet clean, which I appreciated, because I have very light colored carpet. But by now it was getting late. He talked a good deal and it took him longer than I thought it would. He found a problem with one system and told me I probably ought to have it replaced or at the very least, replace the motor for $500-700. But then he got it working. He had replaced the filter in the first system, but he didn't mention the filter in the second system. It's a large accordion filter that i have to purchase myself. I had extra filters which I told him about, but I'm afraid he forgot to check the filter after he found the problem with the motor. The only reason this company didn't get an A was because the serviceman used a guilt tactic with me to try to get me to buy something. I don't appreciate that so I probably won't have them out again.

Everything went great. Their tech showed up on time, went through our A/C unit and said everything is good to go for the summer. I will use this company from now on. It was easy to schedule the appointment, the person we spoke with at their office was very nice and it was quick and easy. I needed an HVAC companies name on the fridge and now I have one.

My first pump was general electric and lasted 8 years, my second pump was a trane and it lasted 8 years. They both failed because of compressor failure. Contract signed for installation of Tempstar central air conditioner. The new installation replaced an Armstrong central air conditioning unit Mark Stansbury sold me in 1994. Mark also sold me an Armstrong Gas Furnace in 1994. The new Tempstar installation went smooth. The unit can make this house cold fast when the oustside temperature is swinging between cool and hot in August and September. Mark Stansbury helped me get rid of heat pumps in 1994. He explained the process of working with the gas company and getting a gas main installed in this neigborhood. Heat pumps were a problem I wanted to eliminate. Heat pumps were providing a service life of 8 years, were expensive to replace and unreliable. Heat pumps were making the house feel cold in the winter months. Heat pumps did not put out hot enough air. The gas company wanted me to pay $1500.00 for the gas main or my other option was to get a least one neighbor to purchase a gas furnace and connect to the new main. I pounded on doors and talked to neigbors until a neigbor areed to sign up for the gas main and convert from electric heat to gas heat. Converting my home from electric heat pumps to gas a furnace was the best move I could have made. The Gas Furnace is running a fine track record from the installation in May of 1994 to date March 2013. The furnace blows good feeling hot air on me all winter, is reliable and inexpensive to maintain and operate. The long service life of the gas furnace forecasted by Mark Stansbury has proven to be true. I am delighted to not have the problems heat pumps cause. Mark Stansbury did an oustanding job by helping me get rid of heat pumps and by helping me get hooked up to the gas main in 1994. I am looking forward to getting rid of electric water heaters and electric stoves. Gas is best. My experiences with Mark Stansbury, Mark IV have been outstanding.

He came out, took some diagnostic measurements for air flow, temperature change, etc. He offered his opinion on what was wrong, which turned out to be correct. I was able to perform the fixes myself so I declined any further service, however his visit was very educational and he did an excellent job explaining everything.

A team of experts showed up at 8 am on the day they were scheduled and they had both furnaces replaced by 4 pm that afternoon. No muss, no fuss, everything went according to plan. I have used this firm twice now and would not hesitate recommending them to anyone. They do a top-notch job.
Description of Work: Routine maintenance of my two furnaces revealed that the older of the two had burned through most of the burner, thus creating an unsafe condition. Due to Mark IV's super performance on my a/c, I hired them to replace my two furnaces.

Actually, it went super. Mark came to my home several times, inspected the areas involved, took detailed pictures of what was needed and replaced both a/c units. Mark even found where flexible gas tubing was used coming out of a furnace wall in clear violation of code. Even though another firm was responsible, Mark had this changed free of charge. The workers were pleasant, professional and cleaned up my premises after the job was done.Mark IV did not have the lowest quote but their work was well worth the difference, in my opinion.
Description of Work: I have two whole house air conditioners and one of them quit this summer. Mark IV inspected the units and my house, gave me a detailed explanation of what they recommend and why and replaced both units.

This is the second time I have used Mark IV for my home H/AC system. This time it was a blower motor gone bad. They were able to get to me within a day, found the problem, picked up the part and had my AC system blowing cool air within a couple of hours. I was impressed enough to purchase a nicely priced maintenance package for 2 years, which also gives me service discounts. While here for the blower motor, the technician also found a contactor at the AC unit that was on its last legs and replaced that. He also advised me against using the high end furnace filters that tend to clog up quickly and puts more strain on the blower motor. Good advice to same me money in the short run and the long run. With my system at about 10 years old, having Mark IV perform semi-annual maintenance will keep me cool in the summer and warm in the winter for quite a while.
Description of Work: My furnace blower had stopped working. While here for the blower motor, the technician also found a contactor at the AC unit that was on its last legs and replaced that.

They came out and performed annual maintenance and clean up on our heating and air conditioning units. We now have an annual service agreement for routine maintenance for biannual visits since we liked them so well. I contacted them for an appointment for routine maintenance and they came out the next day and it was not an emergency. The staff was very friendly, professional and on time for the appointment.

I will call Mark for any plumbing or water softener problem that I have. I don't know if his prices are reasonable since I haven't used another plumber or gotten estimates. Overall, I think I got my money's worth.
Description of Work: Mark removed the kitchen sink faucet, which was a one-handle model, and replaced it with a new faucet. The old faucet fittings were corroded and couldn't have been easy to remove. Mark did an excellent job without scratching my counter top. Mark is very personable and very experienced. Late last year, Mark replaced parts on my water heater. Mark also installed my neighbor's basement bathroom sink and toilet.

It was a check-up for a service plan that we purchased, so this one did not have a specific cost on it because we purchased a yearly plan. They just did a great job and they were in and out. They checked up everything real thoroughly and gave us a report.

They were recommended by a friend of mine. I pay them annually as per the service contract. They do cleaning and tune up as well. If I need additional service, I get a reduced rate. I've been using them for ten years. They are on time. They do what they say they are going to do. They have kept my units running without any problem. I only had one major problem with my furnace. I've been in this house for ten years. I've had multiple service technicians over the years. They all come in, put on their covers before work. They are very respectful. They get in and get out in time so that I can get on to work. They are like Santa Claus. They go straight to the work and don't fool around. I'm very pleased with them. I would highly recommend them. I will use them in the future. They do a great job. I can't say enough good about them. Often you don't have people like that. Most of them are weird and not responsive. People in their office are good. When I call them to get service scheduled, they work with me very closely to make sure I can get it done at the time which is convenient to me. I my opinion they are very humble. One of the reasons I like them is because I know they'll be at my house before 9 o'clock and get it done by 9:30 so I can get on to work. That's really important.

Bought the Angie's List Big Deal for an air conditioning tune-up. Schedule appointment for 8:30 a.m. Called the company at 9:00 a.m. when nobody showed up to my house. Customer service told me that they were running late and that it would be at least another hour. Unacceptable to not get a phone call in that situation. People take time off of work for these appointments.

Description of Work: I had purchase a 21-point tune up Angie's List Big Deal for this service. I had scheduled the service about a week ahead of time and then found my a/c wasn't working. I called to request someone come out right away to see if it could be repaired. I was told the service person would be out between 2-4 pm the next day. I was satisfied that they were responding outside of our agreement in order to help me with the new circumstances. I was not at home at the time of the service but my aunt was visiting from out-of-state and was there to let them in. I received a call at 2:15 the day of the service and I was told my unit was out of freon, that there was a possible leak, leak detection started at $260 and that the service person was only trained in maintenance and not repair, he would have to send someone else out, and that the visit that day would be covered by my coupon. I in no way expected my coupon to cover the repair costs, but I was taken aback to think they, knowing I was "down", had sent someone out that would not be able to repair my unit, that this person would spend 15 minutes to determine it was obviously broken, and then take my coupon and leave. To say I was a bit frustrated and angry would be an understatement. I told the maintenance person he could leave and seethed for letting myself be ripped off all afternoon. Upon arriving home I was told by my aunt that he had arrived early and had been there for quite some time diligently cleaning my HVAC unit, that he was pleasant and accommodating, and that he had been obviously upset and hurt at my abrupt dismissal. Had this been communicated to me my response would have been quite different. I did call the company the day after and apologize for whatever part I played in the miscommunication. In the end my only complaints were the state of my furnace room, which was left dirty and in disarray, and the fact my pilot light was left off. I am fairly certain this would not have been the case if I had not told the maintenance person he was done and should leave my premises. All in all not the best experience for either one of us. The office staff were very helpful, understanding, and sympathetic. I need to ask better questions and their maintenance person needs to communicate the status of the call in a more complete way. Hopefully we'll both learn our lessons.

When I called to schedule the appointment, we decided on a date about a week later since there was a holiday weekend in between and the servicing wasn't urgent. The appointment was scheduled for a time between 8:30 and 9:30. Todd called about 45 minutes before he arrived to let me know he was on his way and arrived promptly at 9:00. He asked if I had any particular concerns about the units. Since I let him know that I had just purchased the house and was new to home ownership, he took extra time to explain how and when to maintain and service the various units. He also pointed out the areas of concern on the heat pump, since I was unfamiliar with a heat pump. Todd was very professional and thorough in his work. When he was done with the inspection and the air conditioner had been running for about an hour, he checked the house and thermostat again to make sure the temperature had dropped, since I hadn't turned on the air conditioner this season yet and it was 80 degrees outside, and he checked all of the vents to make sure they were open and weren't covered by furniture. I appreciated the numerous tips that Todd provided, including pointing out that the spin on my ceiling fans needed to be reversed for air conditioning (pulling cool air up from the floor), advice to leave the furnace fan running to improve air circulation in my home (I'm concerned about moisture build-up from the master bathroom), and closing the humidifier air flow damper to bypass the humidifier during air conditioning season. He pointed out the trap on the air conditioner condensate line, when I mentioned that the line needed to be moved so it didn't drain into the crawl space under the house. He urged me to advise the plumber to NOT put in another trap, since the line wouldn't drain properly with the furnace fan running. He offered his number for the plumber to call, if there were any questions. He also discussed the options for the furnace air filter. I could either use a 6 month filter in the separate filter unit or use a 30-90 day pleated filter in the unit incorporated in the furnace. Since the existing filter needed to be replaced, Todd offered to complete his inspection and wait while I drove to the nearby Lowes and got a new filter. He measured both units to make sure I got the right sized filter and then installed the filter before he left. The whole visit was about 2 hours, which was definitely longer than normal, due to my many, many questions. Todd was friendly and patient throughout and took the time to provide explanations that I could understand. He absolutely went above and beyond in providing me with excellent customer service. Overall, I was delighted with the service and felt I received 1000% value for the cost of the service call. I gained a lot of valuable knowledge, which will help me do my part to keep the units running smoothly, I got the air conditioner serviced and I found my permanent heating/air conditioning service company. I will definitely use this company again for any and all future service on these units.
Description of Work: I purchased a coupon for air conditioning servicing through Angie's List. The technician tuned up the air conditioning unit. He tested multiple aspects (45 point check up) of the unit, including the compressor amps, contactor voltage drop temperature difference across the coil and provided all tested numbers on a checklist. He also inspected the heat pump, the humidifier and the air filter.

Last year we noticed that our AC was not up to par, it was trying to work but wasn't making it cool. So we saved up and decided to go with repair this year since we had an Angie's list coupon for an AC tune up.The first man shows up for the tune up and I told him that it was acting up also. He did about half the tune up check list and discovered the crack in the coil, so he stopped everything and told me that we would need a new coil and he would order it and the man who comes out to fix it would finish the tune up. He also used the restroom while here, which I found a little strange, but not the end of the world. My husband is an electrician and he informed that is usually a big service no-no. But I am not basing my grade off of that. So a couple days later the guy comes out to fix the coil and finish the tune up. Everything is going fine and he comes in and tells me that we have more problems with the system than originally thought since the first guy stopped when he saw the first problem. But he would go ahead and still give me the quoted original price of $1,600 (Thumbs up!). I guess some of the lines outside were loose and therefore more freon than expected was leaking out. He went back to continue working on the coil. Now here is the reason I gave such a low score...I am 6 months pregnant, and noticed that the house was smelling funny, but didn't think much of it, since that tends to happen while working on a house. A little while later I stood up to go into kitchen and I noticed the whole house is foggy. I have no idea what this stuff is in my house. So I went outside to tell him that the house was filled with something and he said "O ya, that will happen sometimes, just open your windows"..it was 60 degrees outside, but I went back in and started to do so. I was already annoyed at that moment because he could of warned me before hand if he knew this kinda thing happens that way my house wouldn't of been filled. Then all my smoke detectors starting going off, so I went to the garage to tell him and he said "Just wave them with a fan and it'll stop"...so me alone, being 6 months pregnant and my dogs freaking out, had to run up and down the stairs in order to get the smoke detectors off. I have no idea how long I was breathing this stuff in, but I know my lungs hurt and I couldn't take a deep breath, even after I caught my breath from running all over the house. I went outside to find out what was in my house and I never did get a clear answer and he seemed rather annoyed that I was asking. I told him I was pregnant (even tho it's obvious) and that my lungs hurt and he didn't care or answer me. So I went back inside and took my dogs and self to sit outside and after awhile my lungs stopped hurting and the house was freezing but was cleared out. He finished with the coil, I have no idea if he finished the tune up, although I reminded him that the other guy hadn't done finished it. We waited until warmer weather hit and turned on the AC, the thermostat was reading 75 degrees when its set to 71 degrees. So I called them back again, and they sent someone out that day (Thumbs up) and he checked the coil and outside and couldn't find anything, so I suggested the thermostat and he brought in a meter and determined that the air was working and that the thermostat was wrong. I was rather annoyed because this is the 3rd time they've been to my house and the thermostat is on the list of the original tune up they were supposed to do, when I told him this, he just fumbled with his answer and said it would be $150 to get a new one with them. I said no, and he went on his way. And then called me the next day to see if he left some machine at my house, so once again I was left to run all over the house looking but came up with nothing. I could tell he wanted to come look for it when I said I couldn't find it, but I told him I would let his company know if I saw anything. The problem is fixed with the AC, but I would not use this company again, but of the smoke detector issue and I don't even know what was in my house, and I don't believe the tune up was completed.

I regret any customer having issue with us because we try very hard to be the quality company that customers expect. As with any solder repair, there are going to be some smoke, and we sincerely regret they were unavoidably pulled in to the house through the ductwork system, and that we didn't warn the member ahead of time. I have never had a complaint like this before, but We will warn the customers in the future. We did complete the tune-up as I reviewed the completed data sheet in our records. Concerning the thermostat, the set point temperature was 71; the tstat said 75, but the house was actually 67 according to our digital temp. thermometer. We would be happy to replace her thermostat to help resolve this issue at her convenience if she would like.

The service man (Todd Whitaker) arrived within the window of time expected. He was very courteous and professional. He pointed out a possible problem in the future and to have it checked on the next inspection. He also gave me advice as in keeping the fan on during the heating/cooling seasons as it was about the cost of an 80 watt light-bulb, but would save much more on electricity/natural gas and keep the house at a more even temperature throughout. It would also extend the life of the furnace and air conditioning unit. I will abolutely call this company next year for a service check and any repairs needed to my heating/cooling system.

I thought that they were professional and knowledgeable. They were on time. They got the job done relatively quickly and efficiently. They gave me appropriate suggestions and overall, I was satisfied with their service. Their price was relatively the same price that everybody else was going for from what I found on the flyers and the things across the board. I paid them as per the coupon arrangement from Angie's List.
