On 12/12/2012, my daughter paid Shaw Rentals a $200 security deposit for a sublease for an apartment. She moved out of the apartment in May, 2013. Throughout 2013, we called Shaw many times inquiring about the return of the deposit. The answer my daughter always received was they first had to contact the primary lease holder before Shaw could settle up with my daughter regarding our $200. On 2/10/2014 a formal email was sent to Shaw requesting a status. On 2/12/2014, we faxed a follow up. To date, there has been no response from Shaw. It's been 10 months since my daughter vacated the apartment and we feel they are simply trying to avoid the return of our $200. As outlined in our letter to Shaw, we want to see documentation that we signed stating that the return of our deposit is dependent upon their contacting the primary lease holder. We'd also like to have our deposit returned in whole or in part. If not in whole, we expect to be given an explanation of why. Finally, we'd appreciate understanding why this has taken 10 months and much effort on our part to reconcile.
