Excellent. The instruction was clear what prep I was responsible for before Perma-seal came to do the work. The clean-up of concrete sanding was good. When I suspected an issue-prompt responsiveness. Mike Vecchione made the whole process easy during a time of uncertainty.

We had to wait 4 weeks for the work to be done due to their scheduling, which was the only downside. The crew was there on the designated day, on time and got straight to work. The foreman explained everything that was being done and asked several times if I had any questions. He kept me informed throughout the whole install as to what was being done. The crew was very respectful of our home, kept it as clean as possible and left no mess other than the expected dust from breaking up the existing concrete. It's only been a week since the install, but the existing water leak is completely gone and we are more than satisfied with the work itself, and all PermaSeal employees we dealt with.
Description of Work: Had water leaking into our basement from the cove joint (where the wall meets the floor) under our finished basement stairs. The sales rep/inspector was out the day after I called PermaSeal to inspect the issue and provide solution options. He was amazing and spent close to 3hrs at our house going over the options with us. We opted to go with an interior french drain system.

They had promises they didn't keep, they had that kind of type of thing so I was really satisfied with them at all. They were fine at the beginning then at the end they had insisted that they didn't cover windows after they told me that they were going to fix the problem. Get the hell out of business, they could actually follow through on what they promised and make sure it was done right and if that wasn't the case and I needed something else then they shouldn't sold me new windows, installation of new windows they should have done something else.
Description of Work: They put in new basement windows, they said it would cure the leak problems the salesman did then when the installers were putting them in they said oh yeah that will stop the leaks and then of course that did stop the leaks the leaks coming through the windows that they just put in.

We understand your concerns and appreciate you letting us know about this. When our consultant came to your home, he discussed different options with you. We allow our clients to have options, so we provide multiple, possible solutions to wet basement issues. You chose the option of window replacement in an attempt to solve your home's leaky basement problem. However, there were other, more effective waterproofing options that were discussed and encouraged. If you are interested in moving forward with other waterproofing options, please reach out to us. We wish you the best, and look forward to being of assistance to you in the future.

My estimate appointment was scheduled between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm, a 4 hour window. At 4:00 pm I called to find out where the estimator was. The lady on the phone put me on hold and called the individual that was scheduled to preform my estimate. She came back on the phone and told me he was running about 2 and a half hours late. When I asked if they had any intentions on calling me to let me know, she dismissed my question and only offered to re-schedule or accept the new 6:30 pm appointment time. I decided to wait another 2 and half hours. When the estimator came out he was unapologetic and very disorganized. I explained the service I wanted done (concrete lifting) on my driveway. He then offered another service (concrete crack repair) which was fine but I asked him to give me two separate quotes. After taking some measurements and working up the paperwork, he came back with one quote including both services. I then asked him about a separate quote for just the concrete lifting and he explained that they only come out for $1,100 or more services. The concrete lifting was only $779 and I would have to also include the concrete crack repair or pay extra for just the one service. The $1,100 minimum would have been great info upfront. I wouldn't have wasted 7 hours of my life.

Work not done. I purchased Deal for $50.00 toward plumbing services on 6/28/16. I thought I would use the Deal for an estimate on what could be done to repair an older Kohler tub/shower faucet. A plumber came on 7/11/16, and said he would look for parts (took picture) or purchase a new replacement. After several weeks I inquired and was told the plumber quit and another plumber would be sent. The second plumber came on 8/4, took a picture and said he would call. We do not need this shower but we like to have things working. My last call was about a week ago and I was told I would receive a call in 24 hours. Since I have not received a call I am puzzled what is going on. i have had excellent service for basement systems. They did come back and fix the problems that I spoke about previously. I appreciate that they came back out. They did go and check supply stores and they were able to tell me that I need to replace my faucet and they would have to remove tile from the wall.

No show on the appointment. Called to find out why no show, they said they would call back in 10 minutes. They never called back. It should have been a red flag when they cannot do repair work the same day of the estimate. I would waste 3 days if I wait for them. No show, second attempt at estimate, and finally a third day for repair.

Hi, thank you for expressing your concerns and bringing them to our attention. I looked into your file, and it looks like you called on Fri 7/8 to schedule an appointment, which our agent made for Thurs 7/21, after you informed our agent you preferred a Thurs or Fri appointment. We sent an email confirmation on 7/14, and also called you on 7/15 to verify your appointment. At this time you informed us that you went with another contractor and we cancelled your appointment for 7/21. On Mon 7/18, we received an email from you in response to our confirmation email sent on 7/14 that said we were a no show to an appointment date and that you scheduled it for the previous Thursday. I apologize, but we don't have a mention of Thurs 7/14 as an appointment date. We would be happy for an opportunity to rectify the problem. We called and left you a voicemail today in regards to this, and if you prefer, please message me via Angie's List so we can work toward resolving this issue. Our policy is to visit the home, do a complete free inspection, write an estimate and then, if accepted by the homeowner, schedule the work to be completed. Thank you, Bri, marketing coordinator

After we paid our deposit on a $2000 crack repair contract, Perma-Seal sent out a new rep who raised the project another $5600. Despite the added cost to “do the job right” our existing perimeter drain was filled with expanding foam and blocked. This was never fixed. The crack repairs also leaked. The first two rounds of leaks were addressed under warranty work. After several complaints about the perimeter drain a Field Supervisor finally came to investigate. Then, all communications stopped. We were never contacted with resolution about the drainage issues. And, even though more leaks were reported, no warranty work was ever scheduled. A lot of out of pocket money was spent fixing their work. And we still have flooding/drainage issues to deal with. It is ironic that Perma-Seal convinced us to add a $1400 sump replacement as our pit “filled up so quickly when it rained.” But, after the repair work no water ever entered the pit even during a huge rainstorm. They would not admit their work had any impact on the draining, even after viewing plumbing camera inspection images of the drain line. The work crews were nice enough, but the rest of the firm is unresponsive and dismissive. The Perma-Seal team did eventually work on remediating the leaks after repairs were completed. They did move all water sources (downspout, sump discharge, etc) even further away from the foundation in order to not place unnecessary hydraulic pressure on the repairs. We are now down to some minor weeping. We consider the scope of work complete.

They came out in march to start the work. I was originally told all I needed to do was move my washer and dryer. When they came to start the work, they told me I needed to get the carpet removed. I paid to get the carpet removed and rescheduled for them to come back. Upon their next return they then advised me to get the tile removed. During my first appointment I was never told to remove anything but my washer and dryer. After attempting to speak with the company about my concerns, they have not returned any calls. I gave the company a down payment and now no work is getting done. I have been trying to get this work done since March and it is now the middle of June. I feel like once they got me hooked and received the money they dropped me. I have a contract with the company and they have not started any work.

I understand your concerns and appreciate you letting us know about this issue. After the initial visit, we were unaware of the mold problem when our crew came to do the work, which is why we requested the carpet removal. Once you did, we returned to do the work and our crew uncovered that underneath the floor was asbestos tile. Unfortunately, these are unsafe working conditions for our crew so we also asked for this to be removed in order for our crew to complete the work. (As a company, we do not have the capability to perform mold and/or asbestos tile removal services.) After you had that removed, we were able to come in, perform the necessary work on your home, and install your sump pump and drain tile system successfully. We are happy we were able to come to an agreement, and the work has been performed and completed in your home. Should you have any more questions or concerns, please reach out to us. Thank you very much, and we hope you enjoy your dry basement! -Bri, marketing coordinator

Permaseal hit and cracked our sewer pipe in 2 places under our basement floor while jackhammering to install drainage tiles in 2013. This fact in their own notes. The Permaseal plumber verbally told me that the cracks would not be a problem since the cracks was on top of the sewer pipe and sewage could still flow out from our house. The Permaseal crew manager also told me not to tell our village inspector about the cracks because it would "severely delay their work". I unfortunately listened to them both and said nothing. I now realize how fraudulent their statements to me were. In the next 2 years our basement received sewer water in our basement due to sewer water backup, something that is common in LaGrange, IL. The sewer water came from one of the places where Permaseal hit our sewer pipe because all our basement plumbing is not directly connected to the sewer and one of the cracks is the weak spot. Permaseal is in the business of plumbing & sewers and they knew that a cracked sewer pipe is a big problem in my area. I contacted Permaseal in November of 2015 about this issue. They came to my house and confirmed there is a large crack, but somehow concluded that this large crack could have not been from their jackhammering. After this visit, I wrote Permaseal a very detailed history of this fraud and disagreed with their findings. Permaseal decided not to reply to my detailed claim which was sent to them by email. (they may have realized that I cannot file a claim with the BBB since this work was done 2 years ago...) There was no way to know these cracks would cause a problem until the Lagrange sewer system backed up, which was over a year since their work was done. This is why I am writing this review. A damaged sewer pipe in our basement will be a problem during a sewer backup, as we experienced 2 different times due to the cracked sewer pipe in the next 2 years. I was completely taken advantage of as an uniformed consumer. I am embarrassed that I have done business with Permaseal.

We're very sorry our client continued to get water after our repair. However, we do not believe it was due to our negligence and we must state here that the damage to their sewer line was NOT caused by Perma-Seal. Our Crew Chief notified the client at the time of our original work of the hole in the sewer line when he saw it; and they signed our Production Record on which we notated the damage that was there prior to our work. The same signed Production Record also literally states that client said they would have their plumber repair their sewer line. Fortunately we use these forms because without this signed documentation there would be no proof our innocence. Our Crew Chief informed the client of the importance of doing having their sewer line repaired to prevent municipal sewer back flow. Additionally, if we broke the line, the 90 pound jack hammer would have gone straight through the pipe, not cause a small crack in it. The client also admitted to our company that he had someone else work on their sewer line in the same area between after our work in 2013. The damage to the sewer is not something that Perma-Seal can nor should take responsibility for. If it was, as with anytime we are responsible for something that we did, we would gladly admit to it.

Inspector (Robert) showed up right on time and walked us through the process of what he was going to do. He asked me to accompany him so I could see exactly what he was doing. He was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He found the problem in short order and we agreed on a plan to move forward and correct the problem. No high pressure sales pitch...only a good discussion of the options. Purchased a new pump and they installed it the following day. Highly recommend using them for any similar issue you might have.
