One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning

pretty standard clean and check of the air conditioner and water heater. The person did not seem to know anything more about air conditioners and water heater to give any more advice or feedback.

They made an error, but corrected it.

It went well. Technician was on time within stated window of arrival. Listened to my description of the unit. Did thorough inspection & cleaning of the unit, which lead to 2 issues that could have been repaired that day, but will certainly need repair in the future. Gave detailed explanation of the condition of the 2 components at issue & the result that will occur when they fail. It was my decision to run the unit until failure & replace & repair at that time in the future, fully understanding & accepting that a separate service call & charge would be incurred.

Provider was prompt and courteous. Performed tune-up as requested. Provider trying to up sell their annual maintenance package even though I was only looking for a tune-up as I had recently moved into a new house. Also recommended a fix on the unit that would have cost over $300. Had another opinion that cost me additional service call and was told that the fix was not needed.

didn't end up using it... but still have my big deal so I plan to use it before it expires...

This was a basic service, however overall experience was great. Got a reminder call, got a heads up that the service tech was on their way, tech was on time and pleasant. Would use this company again and recommend to others.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and they were awesome. I had to pay extra because there were some parts that needed to be replaced. The electrical connection on the outside unit and there was a part on the inside that didn't look so good, so we replaced that. He was very good about going through all the pieces, and explained to me in how long each of the parts need to be replaced. He was on time, very polite and very professional. It was a very good experience.

Ed was informative, very professional, courteous, and experienced. He informed me of better plans for yearly coverage, the plans seemed to scale. I would call upon the service of One Hour again, because of the experience, the background check on the employees, and the reliability of the service tech.

I was given two quotes--a Carrier Comfort Maker Model G9MVE furnace with a 2.5 ton A/C and with a 3 ton. When I asked for a brochure, the salesperson advised that they stopped doing that and that everything is online now. So I went online and I couldn't find the model number listed either on the Carrier Web Site, nor Comfort Maker site. I did find the model number on Keeprite's web site (a brand made by Int'l Comfort Products that is a subsidiary of Carrier). I spent a few hours reading blogs and got the impression that Keeprite is a value or budget brand of middle/lower middle quality. This may or may not be accurate; just reporting what various blogs indicated. However, at this point I did not feel comfortable with the quotes of over $12,000 for the 2.5 ton or over $15,000 with the 3 ton (before utility rebates). I decided to purchase elsewhere.

kThe serviceman was polite and professional, taking extra care not to track mud into the house (the ground was wet). After diagnosing a failing motor, he came up with a solution that was quicker and less expensive than ordering a replacement motor and coming back to install it, even though it took him some extra effort and ingenuity to do it.

It turned out good. The deal was good.

Ed called before arrival and was on time. He checked everything over to be sure all was in good working order. Also, gave me some tips for getting best out of A/C. Very pleased.

Through one of the Angie's List "specials", I purchased a package of two service calls for my heating / air conditioning system. The spring check up was to service the air conditioning part of the system and the fall check up will focus on the furnace. The scheduling folks from One Hour Heating called me the day after I purchased the package to schedule the work. They called again the day before the appointment to remind me, and then a third time 30 minutes before the technician would arrive. The technician arrived on time, which was shocking considering the heat wave we have been having for the past week, and how busy they must be with emergency calls. He immediately put on booties over his shoes, and went to work. He was very friendly, and more than happy to explain everything he was doing, and what he was finding throughout his inspection of the equipment. He completed many different checks, both of the inside and outside parts of he system. In total, the technician spent over two hours working on the system, and gave it a clean bill of health. He did not try to sell me anything, and appeared extremely capable and honest. He mentioned that he had worked for other similar firms that he had left because he felt they lacked integrity in dealing with customers. One Hour is the "best of the best" in his view, which meant a lot to me as a customer. I could not be more pleased with the service, and have already received a follow-up survey from One Hour. I highly recommend this great company for your heating and cooling needs.

First of all, I want to emphasize that my comments pertain to the company in general, and not to the technician himself who came out to service our units. He was friendly and accommodating and seemed very honest. The MO of the company seems to be this: sell a pretty cheap A/C tune-up deal for $49 (we bought one for each of our units), then upsell customers on other services and repairs. To start, this company provides a 5 hour service window. Yes, 5 hours. They may as well just tell you to sit at home all day. When the technician arrived, he wasn't even aware that he had to service 3 units and was expecting just one. This necessitated a call to his dispatcher to tell him he'd be late for the next appointment. When he realized that one of the furnaces was in the attic (an A/C tune-up requires inspection of the furnace blower) he said he didn't have a ladder and wouldn't be able to inspect that furnace. No ladder? How can they send him out without a ladder. When I insisted that I had paid for that part of the service, he said that the company would call to make an appointment to come out and complete the work by inspecting that furnace. Of the 3 units inspected: one had no issues - no surprise since it's only a couple of years old; the second had no freon due to a leak and he suggested the entire unit be replaced; for the third, which was working fine, he suggested adding various components to ensure the unit didn't have to work so hard to turn on - thereby increasing its longevity - for $755. I told him that I was going to get a second opinion, which he actually encouraged. I had a well-regarded company come out and inspect the units and their assessment was: yes, one unit needs to be replaced. But the opinion on the other was, why spend over $750 on a unit that's working fine. It will either break or not. If and when it does, deal with it. While, I recognize people could have different opinions on this matter, I do believe the company tries to make money by upselling customers once getting its foot in the door with "cheap" tune-ups. Also, I'd add that the 2nd company's technician was very surprised that the first one had sufficiently tightened any of the bolts when replacing the covers back onto the units. They were loose enough to be turned by hand. Needless to say, the company never called us to schedule a follow-up visit to inspect the furnace the technician was not able to get to. So I called them. Had had to wait, you guessed it, another 5 hours. I asked them to give me a call on my mobile when they were on their way (they had me repeat the number). But of course they didn't. The new technician showed up insisting that the office had called me because he "heard them talking to me." Right. If this guy's pants were on fire, he could not have been in and out of my house fast enough. In fact, the original technician had said that one of the important things to inspect on a furnace in the attic is that the spill pan has a switch that turns off the unit should the pan fill up - to prevent the pan from overflowing and water leaking through your ceiling. When this guy was just about out the door, I asked him if he had inspected the pan. He said no and that if I insisted he would go back and check it. I did. And he did. All in all, a poor experience with this company. I certainly will never use them again and feel that I wasted my money.

It went excellent, I was very pleased. The service tech seemed very knowledgable. He had good ideas for improvements in the future to my system. He wasn't pushy but made good suggestions. He was efficient, did his work, cleaned up, got out in a timely manner and answered all of my questions.

Did prescribed work satisfactory Tried to sell us their yearly maintenance program but we were not interested.

I needed to leave for a trip that day, so requested for an early appointment. So, technician came for the first appointment that day. He did work diligently to find a leak on one of the air conditioners and fixed it (I spent the same amount of money last year to find the leak, but the other company was unsuccessful). Excellent job.

Service man was pleasant and efficient

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was great, they did really well and we were happy with that. He was on time, very friendly and he gave a lot of good information about the furnace and the air conditioner which helped a lot. They gave an excellent service.

Thought they were over priced. The ignitor switch cost $25.00 on line and you all you have to do is unplug the old one and plug in the new one . $183.00 The blower capacitor $17.00 on line. Two wires to on screw and replace new one $99.00. Half hour job at the most. Wanted to replace Carrier Inducer Assembly $569.00 (Declined)and Replace the Blower Motor for $569.00 (Declined)

The guy came in and did a great job. It was quick and efficient service. So far, everything he fixed and diagnosed was correct.

Technician was very professional and gave me helpful advice on how to set my thermostat for more efficient cooling/heating. Only issue I had was with scheduling. I had them on my calendar for the 6/12 and their system had me scheduled for 6/13, Don't know who is to blame for that mistake. To their credit, they made sure I was the first call of the following day.
