Preferred Restoration

They were very courteous and well equipped. They sealed off upstairs vents in my house to prevent any breathing problems. They removed all the blown in attic insulation we had installed previously. It took several large bags to get rid of it all. Once the roof was replaced they installed new insulation as well. They were on time and had the project done within a week. It was great working with Charlie and Preferred. I could tell they care about their work and their customers. I would easily, and have already, recommended them to others needing roof work.

Steve is very punctual and responsive. Steve is amazing at working with the insurance and the mortgage companies. He helps through all the steps. I would have never have figured every out. The work on the house has turned out great.

These guys are fantastic. They are incredibly easy to work with, extremely knowledgeable, and wonderful people. Charlie is an expert in mold remediation and removal. His crew worked neatly and efficiently - and in a manner so as not to displace or inconvenience our family any more than necessary. They are experts when it comes to insurance. Preferred worked directly with our insurance company regarding our claim and ensured that our repairs were completely covered. Their craftsmanship is high quality and they stand behind their work. Minor touch-ups were never an issue and they moved our furniture safely and carefully out of the way and returned everything to its proper place. Always attentive, courteous, and respectful - their follow-up and follow-through is exceptional. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

It was as if the Cavalry came to save us! They swooped in, removed the waterlogged carpet pad and vacuumed up addition moisture in the carpet. They also removed the baseboard, drywall and insulation to about a foot above the floor. Then, they brought in an industrial size dehumdifier and six or seven fans that could blow warm air, continuously--24 hours/day for about 5 days.. These fans were positioned to dry the wall and under the carpet. They also sprayed an anti-microbial spray every 24 hours for about four days. After about 5 days, it was deemed dry and the equipment was removed. The carpet is salvageable and I will work with Preferred Restoration and their various contractors to restore the basement to it's previous finished state. Can't say enough about this firm and their professional handling of this situation. Thank you Preferred Restoration! I hope we won't need you again but if we do, we know exactly who to call!

I had work done on Steve's other company, Preferred Roofing and Exteriors. I initially contacted the wrong company for what was needed. Thankfully he could help me out. Steve was efficient, timely, easy to talk with, and always kept me updated with what was going on. My insurance company was taking a very long time to help us, Steve kept in contact with them everyday checking on the status of the claim. He would report back with me, I didn't have to lift a finger or dial a number. Steve did it all. He came out right away to make my carport safe, it was hanging down and it was very dangerous. He came out before the insurance company ok'd any work, just to make sure we were safe. Having your carport hanging off your house and fearing it could collapse with the big next wind is extremely scary and dangerous. Steve saw the urgency and did what he could do to get the insurance company to hurry things along. He is easy to talk to, knowledgeable with his business and insurance companies and keeps you in the loop. I would definitely recommend him and use him in the future. He made a bad situation better.

I talked to several mold remediation and attic insulation companies and decided that it would be best to have one company take care of both issues in my attic. Steve Case at Preferred did a great job of explaining the whole process that involved opening a small section of the roof, removing the mold with a process using baking soda, removing the old insulation, then blowing in new. What I liked was that they also addressed the ventilation issue in my attic that was the cause of the problem. I would definitely recommend Preferred Restoration..

Steve with Preferred Roofing and Preferred Restoration was fabulous. From the initial inspection, we were comfortable, and knew that he was being honest with us about the work recommended when he found mold in our attic. We did end up getting a few more estimates from other contractors, but the pricing by Preferred was still the most reasonable. We were also in the middle of a refinance, and Steve was very accommodating and understanding regarding the timing of the work and payment. His correspondence was extremely timely, and we were always able to get a very quick response whenever we needed one. The work was done in a day, and the crew was very punctual and polite. They worked hard all day to make sure everything was complete, and subsequently cleaned up completely. We are extremely happy with the entire experience, and would whole-heartedly recommend Preferred Roofing and Preferred Restoration.

Spoke with Steve Case, who returned my call immedialtely, since I was getting a new roof at the same time the insulation came through the roof, no one had to come in the house and up the stairs which was nice. I recently had a new high efficiency furnace installed so I didn't need the pipe coming through the roof, they took care of that as well. They came on time, very pleasant to speak with did a wonderful job, Steve came by and went up a ladder to inspect the insulation after the job was done. I have looked at the other reviews for repair and restoration, and the high marks this company has been given, having worked with Steve and this company, I could totally see having Steve on your side in an emergency would a very good thing. Hopefully I won't have to but if I need anyone for restoration, I know who I will call. I am very pleased and would hire this company again, great experience. A+++

We had a pipe burst while out of town and Steve was there within hours of when our neighbors found it, while other companies told us it would be at least 2 or 3 days before they could respond. He talked with us and calmed us down that he would get things taken care of as quickly as possible. Charlie and his team were there the next morning to start the restoration process. Steve knew we were trying to get our place on the market and expedited the repair process, explaining things to us along the way. His staff are friendly and showed up when expected. Would highly recommend.

Steve and Charlie are amazing and a fantastic team. Our basement flooded and Steve was out 2 hours later with pumps to drain the 8 inches. Then Charlie came out to put fans in right away to dry our basement and as soon as that was done, Steve Charlie and their wonderful team came out to tear the drywall out, the doors and the cabinets in order to avoid mold and get the restoration started. I didn't have to worry about a thing and being pregnant at the time, it was comforting to know that everything was being taken care of by trustworthy and fantastic people. They know what they are doing and we have referred them other friends.

Excellent. Charlie did what he said he would do, came out on time, and the repairs were done to my satisfaction. Further, his prices were very competitive and he was a nice guy to deal with. Most companies only do water or smoke damage remediation, but his ability to do the attic repairs for the raccoon infestation was a big plus. One company, both jobs, and at the best price offered among several other companies...classic no brainer!

Steve was here at the same time as the insurance adjuster and worked closely with him so that everyone understood the scope of the work and how much it would cost. Charlie and his team that did the attic work were meticulous as well as responsive to a couple of details that we pointed out. They came when expected and did an amazing job of cleaning up each day before they left. This company definitely had the right mix of skills for this job and it was a pleasure to work with them from start to finish.

Nine workers showed up on August 1 as scheduled. They removed the existing roof, remediated, and replaced the entire second floor roof and 1/2 of the first floor roof. They called early the next morning to say they feared rain on August 2, so were rescheduling to finish on the 3rd. On Saturday, the 3rd they stayed till they completed an outstanding job. All work was done as described in the contract. We are extremely pleased with the entire process, and highly recommend Preferred Restoration.

We thought Preferred Roofing and Exteriors did an excellent job. Reworking the ventilation required removal of the roof vents and the attic fan, installation of additional soffit vents and a ridge vent. They resheathed and reshingled with identical shingles and after they finished this work, you could not tell the difference from the original roofing. They cut out a section of roof so that they could do some of the work from the outside (up to installing the new insulation), and they vacuumed all the insulation directly into a dumpster that was covered so it wouldn't blow all over the place. Preferred had sealed up the attic and all the openings into the house so that there would be not contamination and put a heavy duty ultra hepa filter in the house to ensure that no mold, chemicals, or insulation made it into the living quarters. After they treated the mold with chemicals, they scraped it off and vacuumed up. They installed baffles for the soffit vents so that the new insulation would not block them to a height of about 4 feet above the attic floor, and then they sealed the roof and reshingled. The last step was to blow in new insulation, which they did from the outside, through a bathroom window and up into the hatch for the attic. Each day they cleaned up the exterior, going so far as to vacuum the little bits of insulation off the lawn. They were extremely careful not to damage anything inside or any landscaping outside the house, and aside from some slightly flattened grass in the back yard there was no damage. They put booties on when they were in the house. Also, they were very flexible about scheduling, rescheduling the job several times due to the poor weather and possibility of rain. Charlie managed the job, and he was excellent to work with and extremely competent. Preferred is back now to work on a new job in the basement!

Charley and Preferred Restoration worked hand in hand with our contractor who was installing our new roof. Charley spent the time during the estimate process to explain what was needed because of a small mold problem in the attic, but also impressed with his admission that the insulation in the attic did not need to be replaced. He could have pushed brand new insulation on us, but didn't. Also, Charley could have sold us expensive new soffits all around the house, but instead put in place a system that utilized what we had without the trouble of all that extra work.

Charlie and his crew worked on removing my roof down to the rafters. He had to remove the old plywood because they were blackened due to mold growth. The plywood was removed and Charlie's crew sanded down each joist to ensure that any mold spores were removed. They then proceeded to treat the joists with a mold inhibitor. They also made sure that the soffits where properly opened up to allow airflow into the attic. They also installed an attic fan with a temperature and humidity setting so I don't end up being in the same predicament again. Charlie and his crew were attentive and made sure things got done and done properly. I would not hesitate to use Preferred Restoration again and would highly recommend them to anyone.

The great flood of 2013 delivered 2 feet of water to our basement. We pumped it out with the help of our neighbors, but needed professionals to dry out the basement. Just like everyone else in a 30 mile radius. I looked on Angie's list and called as many flood damage/ repair companies as I could and got on as many wait lists as I could. Steve and Preferred Restoration were the first to call back. Steve is the point man, and Charlie runs the water damage restoration. Both are great guys who performed professionally and were just plain nice. It was a super busy time for them, and they were dealing with a family emergency, yet they continued to work and help others get their homes back in order. Steve is very prompt, clear, and polite. He kept us updated on what to expect and when, and got our basement dried out and safe as quickly as possible. He explained the process and answered all of our annoying new home owner questions. Preferred Restoration does heat scans of the walls so you can see how high the water wicked up and how much drywall has to be removed. They did the drywall removal and disposal. -They brought in mega-dehumidifying equipment and a horde of fans. -They put plastic up to block off the area so the noise and dust wouldn't affect the rest of the house. (They used painters tape, and then put the super strong stuff on top of it, so it was secure without damaging our walls. They know what they're doing.) -They treated/removed a small amount of mold, and treated all the affected surfaces with the appropriate antimicrobial products. -And they checked back on the drying process and did tests daily and gave us updates and managed our expectations. When I hired them, they only had 2 Angie's List reviews. But Preferred also does roofing, etc., and they had over 100 positive reviews so I knew I could trust Steve and his team. You can too. Hire them.

I was very scared having mold in the attic and house. Charlie spent a lot of time explaining mold and what needed to be done to effectively get rid of it. He sorted through all the stuff I store in the attic, some of which could be cleaned and saved and some could not. He got rid of all the mold in the attic & thoroughly cleaned all the stuff that could be saved, and I had a lot of stuff up there! He took a lot of time and care cleaning everything. He tore out the walls and shelves in the closet to remove the mold. When he was done and replaced everything it was nicer than when he started. While the containment chamber was still up he replaced the drywall in the ceiling of the kitchen so that when he sanded there would not be dust all over the house. Charlie did all the work and he could not have been more considerate. He has a passion for his work and truly cares. I have sinus problems and they have been bad for a long time but within days of the completion of the job I have not been suffering at all. I would highly recommend Preferred Restoration!! They deserve A++ rating!!

As soon as we made our contractor selection, they immediately went in to high gear, working hard to get us back in our kitchen as soon as possible. Preferred gave us four hours free from a professional design consultant to assist us in our decisions, which was wonderful. All the workers who came in to our home for the various jobs, i.e. plumbing, electricity, tiling, wood floor refinishing, were honest, hard working people who were pleasant to have around. They cleaned up after themselves and took appropriate steps to protect the rest of our house. Some of our cabinets needed to be custom made and Charlie did an excellent job. Our house looks 100% better, thanks to all the professionals we worked with through Preferred Restoration.
