Consumers Read before hiring Illinois Sewer and Drain. 6-14-22 Joel came out and took my place. I asked if he was a licenced plumber and had work comp insurance, and he stated that he was licenced and had work comp insurance and that he would provide me with a copy, so I allowed him to do the work. Joel appeared to be a nice guy, but he had to leave and he did not finish the job. It is now 5-23-23. I started to see a few plumbing problems and started to do some research. Joel is not a licenced plumber, nor at that time was Illinois Sewer and Drain licenced or sponsored by a plumber, which he falsely advertised that he was. Joel was never licenced, nor was his company; however, he was using another person licence. Joel was also not honest. I asked before I hired him if he had worker compensation insurance for him and his employees, and he stated yes. However, that was false information. This guy is doing illegal plumbing work by using another person licence around 6/22. Please be advised: If a contractor comes and does work on your home, they must have work comp insurance. If they get hurt while doing your job, you will be responsible for that injury, and they can make you pay for the doctor visit and damages. It is very important to ask for a copy of their work comp insurance and licence; if they are not on that licence, do not allow them to do the work, no matter how inexpensive they are. Illinois state law permits a plumber to use another person licence and do plumbing work on a home without having a licence; a licenced plumber must check the work. If you had your home worked on prior to August 2022 by Joel, you can be entitled to get back all of your money and damages. My attorney will be filing a complaint with the IDHP inspector and contacting Thumbtack to request an internal investigation and provide documentation. Thumbtack should not allow non-licenced plumbers or plumbers without workman compensation to work on your home.

James arrived on time, did the work effectively and efficiently, and left, and James was polite, good natured, and a nice guy.

Matt came to the home for a slow drain/ stoppage on the bathroom and kitchen sinks. Turned out that there were some old galvanized pipes that had corroded and need to be replaced. Matt did the job that day for an extreamly reasonable price. Even when the work turned out to be much more difficult than orginally anticipated. Matt stuck to the quoted price and everything works perfectly now. I would recommend Illinois sewer and drain to anyone looking to have a plumbing issue resolved no matter how big or small.
