Description of Work: Creative Mechanix Inc (CMI) is a small auto repair shop capable of working on all vehicles (foreign and domestic). CMI is as honest as the day is long. They have an almost zero return rate for repairs. I've been taking my vehicles there for 20+ years, never any complaint. Great place.

Description of Work: In this visit CMI they replaced a leaking power steering line and front brakes. Everything was just as expected. I have been taking my vehicles to Mike (the owner) for over 20 years. He may not be the cheapest auto repair shop around, but he has high quality mechanics. Mike is proud that he has a very low (less than 1%), if not near zero return rate. I haven't ever had to bring a vehicle back to "return" a vehicle and fix something again. Mike is as honest as they come and will tell you exactly what you need or don't need in some cases. My vehicle, a 2005 Honda Accord, has over 150,000 miles and is still running strong thanks to Mike and his crew. Give them a try!

Description of Work: This shop did a computer repair on my 2001 Ford Taurus, fixing the computer that runs the car and the wires.

 + -1 moreMy Jeep needed a major going over and maintenance check of everything. They did diagnostic testing and found various things that needed repairing/replacing. Mike, the owner, did a wonderful job explaining what needed to be done and why and overall they did an excellent job. I could not be more satisfied.
Description of Work: Head to toe check-up and tune-up on my ten year old Jeep Cherokee.

Description of Work: My car got loose after hitting a curb in a snowy day. I followed the suggestion by Angie's List and brought my car to Mike. He is very pleasant and very knowledgeable. My problem turned out to be a serious one and they fixed it perfectly.

 + -1 moreMike was polite & knowledgeable. We appreciated his honesty and willingness to refund our payment since we had to pay for a second diagnostic reading at the dealership. He was correct about the problem with the emission control system. We took the van to Creative Mechanix as we had not been fully satisfied with the dealership auto shop, but we wish Mike would have told us initially that if the problem was with the emission control, we might have to take it to the dealership for service.
Description of Work: Mike did a diagnostic check on our 2002 Honda Odyssey minivan as the Check Engine Light was on--the original charge was $96. He told me that I needed to take the van to a Honda dealership as the diagnostic check revealed a problem with the emission control system that required a resetting of the van's computer (as well as parts). Also, Mike gave me the diagnostic results to me to take to Honda so I wouldn't have to pay the diagnostic fee again. At the Honda dealership, they charged me a second diagnostic fee of $105. When I called Mike to tell him this, he refunded our $96.

 + -1 moreDo you not care to know about the inner workings of a car, but feel you must know something or you'll be taken advantage of--female or male? If so, RUN to CMI in Palatine since Mike is the MOST honest person around. His main concern in your safety in a perfectly working car. He tells you like it is and gets the work done as promised. His prices are more than fair for the integrity he puts into his work. I live in the city and wouldn't take my car anywhere else. You will never be disappointed--ever. I will always gladly give my money to Mike at CMI for work done as he will always deserve it. Thanks for what you do, Mike.
Description of Work: The local dealership in Elmhurst did some warranty work and told me I needed over $500.00 in repairs, but I felt they were deceiving me just to get money out of me. Well, they were as I had Mike at CMI check it out and everything on my car is perfectly fine and safe--in addition to an oil change and those great tire valves that tell you when you need air. But the dealer did cost me extra money to have things checked out--only he wasn't the recipient of that money.

 + -1 moreI FOUND THEM TO BE FRIENDLY AND GOOD AT EXPLAINING REPAIRS. THEY DISCOVERED SOME THINGS THAT WERE DONE TO THE CAR IN PREVIOUS REPAIRS, BY OTHER REPAIR SHOPS, THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN BEING STRANDED OR THE BRAKES GOING OUT. DID GOOD WORK, QUICKLY, AND AT A FAIR PRICE. WILL USE AGAIN.
Description of Work: WATER PUMP, BRAKES, RADIATOR HOSES, BRAKE LINES, SERPENTINE BELT, AND BELT TENSION ARM.

 + -1 moreTHE OWNER TOLD ME THAT SEVERAL OF THEIR CLIENTS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR FUEL INJECTORS AND THEY HAD FOUND THEIR OWN UNIQUE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. WHEN I HEARD THAT I WAS ALL EARS. TOOK THE CAR IN AND AFTER JUST AN HOUR WAIT THE CAR WAS FIXED. THE OWNER WAS HONEST ENOUGH TO SAY HE COULDN'T GUARANTEE THE PROBLEM WOULDN'T COME BACK BUT 85% OF THE CUSTOMERS HAVE NOT HAD FUTURE PROBLEMS. INSTEAD OF RECOMMENDING THAT ALL THE FUEL INJECTORS BE REPLACE THE OWNER SUGGESTED THAT IF THE PROBLEM RETURNS TO REPLACE THE ONE TROUBLESOME INJECTOR INSTEAD OF ALL OF THEM. VERY HONEST. WOULD DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN.
Description of Work: I HAD TAKEN MY CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE CHARGED ME $289 TO RESOLVE A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL INJECTOR BUT THE PROBLEM RETURNED. THEN I TOOK MY CAR TO CREATIVE MECHANIX AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE 5TH FUEL INJECTOR WAS THE PROBLEM BUT THEY CLEANED ALL THE FUEL INJECTORS FOR ONLY $74 AND NOW THE ENGINE PURRS LIKE A KITTEN.
