Curt Mankoff was amazing!!! I left a message for him after hours and promptly received a call from him the following morning. We set up an appointment and he came on time giving me an option to come earlier for his appointment (unfortunately, I wasn't able to get home earlier). He took off his shoes at the door even though I offered him some shoe covers. He explained what he was doing in detail and then set up his mold sample collectors. We did a walk through of our basement and he carefully checked behind the baseboards of rooms from one end of the basement to the other. He also checked under the stairs and did a thorough job of inspecting the basement for signs of mold! He was very knowledgeable, patient and understanding as I explained my concern regarding my daughter's asthma and the recent discovery of flood issues in our home! I would hire him again in a heartbeat!!!

This is the first opinion you want! Do not, I repeat, do not call any company that actually removes the mold before you call Curt! Every company comes out and gives you its pitch on how they recommend you get rid of your mold, but if you get a difference of opinion or a price discrepancy, what do you do then? Who is using fear to try to get you to do more and spend more and what actually needs to be done. Curt will give you the answers you need. He will do a thorough inspection of not just the area where you think/know that you have mold, but he will give you a step by step plan for any company to follow. Since he doesn't do the actual mold removal, you know that he has no vested interest, other than giving you the best plan to get rid of your mold and keep it away. After your visit with Curt, you take his detailed instructions have a few companies come out and tell them that you want them to follow his instructions to the letter. At that point, it's all about who gives you the best price. Curt makes the entire process confusion and fear free.

My neighbor warned me there might be mold in our attic based on a conversation he'd had with the former owner. So I called Curt and he came out the next day. He was prompt and courteous - a very pleasant man. He told me that we had a very minor mold problem in the corner of the attic, and he explained that it was probably there because of the lack of ventillation and sun exposure. He gave me a couple of trusted referrals for treatment. He also gave me some tips on how to control the humidity in my basement. And he found evidence of a previous flooding, which my home inspector never found. I liked the fact that he does not do remediation himself so that he didn't have an incentive to find problems. I also liked that he came out himself - I'm always wary of places that send less qualified hires. I would definitely call Curt again for future mold issues.

Excellent service from Mold Inspection Specialists! When we were getting quotes from insulation specialists for our attic someone pointed out that we may have a mold problem. We then started contacting remediation specialists who recommended replacing the entire roof of our house and clean 2 spots of mold in our crawl space. This gave us great anxiety because of the expense and our children's health (they have allergies). We were unsure of which way to proceed since we received different recommendations from different companies. I went on Angie's list to find a mold specialist. We contacted a couple and after speaking to them on the phone we decided to make an appointment with Curt. Curt was very agreeable and fit us in at 4:15pm the same day we called, Monday, Dec 12. He arrived on time and was very professional. He quickly went to work and provided us with a practical, straight forward assessment of our mold situation. He also found mold in our crawl space that was worse than in our attic which the other remediation specialists did not mention. Curt said he would submit the air samples to the lab and we would probably have the results by Wed or Thur. Excellent follow-up as Curt called us Tuesday evening with the results and emailed the lab report to us that same evening. Extremely happy with the turn around time as it allayed our fears since our children have allergies and we wanted to make sure our home was safe for them. Curt provided us with recommendations for a remediation specialist for the mold and an insulation/ventilation specialist for our attic. Contacted both of them and were very pleased. Curt took the time to explain the remediation procedures to us and what was necessary and what wasn't. He also advised us on what to look for in room air purifiers for our home to help with our children's allergies. My husband and I feel very relieved and confident now that we are able to resolve the mold and ventilation/insulation issues correctly in our home. Curt was punctual, pleasant, and knowledgeable. He examined the whole basement, and gave clear recommendations which were very reasonable. He works for a flat fee, so there was no upselling involved. We would definitely recommend him and use him ourselves again.

We recently had some mold remediation done in our house and wanted to verify that all of the mold was gone. We found Curt from Mold Inspection Specialists on Angie's List and gave him a call. I spoke with him the following day and told him what the situation was. He came out the next week and looked over everything. He found that they had missed two spots where there was mold. He was skeptical of the product that our mold remediation company used, so we did two extra air tests and two tape tests to make sure. He was very knowledgeable and told us what was done right and what was done wrong. I wished we would have called him before we did the mold remediation. He got the results from the air tests the next day and emailed to us. They all passed! The tape tests took about 3 business days and they passed too.

Curt was fabulous! Super professional and also very nice, helpful, and reassuring. We had a roof leak a couple months ago and we had mold! Black mold on the drywall and white mold on the roof deck. We did mold remediation and then left our ceiling open a for a couple weeks to make sure the leak truly was fixed. At first everything was fine, but then we noticed a new "musty" smell. I was worried that the previous remediation did not fully address the problem. I spoke to Curt and told him the whole story. He followed all the twists and turns and worked with me to figure out the best places to test. While his price was a little higher than some other people I spoke to - Curt seemed more experienced, more knowledgeable and most importantly this is all he does. There was no question in my mind that he was being honest because he does not do remediation - so there's never a conflict of interest! It was definitely worth it and I would definitely recommend him.

After freaking out about finding mold in my attic, I started calling around for companies and did a bunch of research on the internet. I decided that with my attic mold problem as well as the other concerns I had in my house, it might be good to get a third party tester to come in and assess the situation. My expectations were that Curt would be able to tell me the extent of the attic problem, the source of the mold, and give me good advice about the best way to remediate the mold. He did all that and more. I now have a game plan as well as two referals for companies to do the work from Curt (I looked both up on Angie's list and they are also highly rated). He also gave me some good advice that is going to save me a bunch of money on my skylight issue, my bathroom ventilation problem, and the minor mold from water damage in my basement. Curt called me right back, was able to come out the next day, was on time, and was very pleasant. He was also very patient with all of my questions (I'm an engineer, so I tend to have a lot of detailed questions). I would definitely recommend Curt to family and friends.

He came to inspect my drywall for mold after water leaked into my condo through the exterior brick wall (I am an end unit in a high rise). He was professional, honest, and experienced and I was very impressed. I would HIGHLY recommend him.

We should have started with Angies list first, before reconstruction, but were not completely informed of Mold spore clean-up. I highly recommend Air quality testing 1st before, starting reconstruction. The cost seemed high but it would have been worth it and maybe saved some money/frustation during reconstruction.

Curt was easy to reach, easy to schedule, flexible and professional. He clearly explained what his inspection process entailed, and that he strictly did inspection--not remediation. I appreciated his honestly, and that he wasn't trying to sell affiliated services. At the time of the appointment, he was prompt and thorough, educated me on sources and root causes of mold areas that were found. His write-up of the lab results was delivered on schedule, and he also provided referrals for remediation. I highly recommend Curt's company.

There was "abnormal" result and he had to retake the air sample. He did not charge for the retest but it made me wonder how accurate the actual process really is. $565 for about 10 minutes of work seems like a ripe off.

Curt came and did an air test and discovered that our first remediation effort dramatically lowered spore counts - but that we still had higher than acceptable levels of mold. He then did a full house inspection and wrote up a thorough and clear plan for final eradication. We just today had the work done. They are currently running the "air scrubbers" now. We will soon (in three or four days) know the final result for the follow up air tests. But, we have a lot of faith in the inspection and the remediation.

We were happy to hear about the results. Samples where taken on Friday and by Monday afternoon we had our results. Everything happened as explained and will recommend Curt to friends and family (and anyone that reads this) if they (you) ever have a mold situation in the future.

We don't have any doubt that it was Curt's experience, persistence and thoroughness that identified our problems. Though the cost of the four air tests seemed high when we were first given our quote, we soon learned it was money well spent... We got more than we paid for and, not only would we hire Mold Inspector Specialists again, but we recommend Curt and his company highly.

I was having allergy problems and mold was one of the things I was allergic to. I did a home test using a kit I purchased at Home Depot and it returned a positive result. I decided to have someone come out and check my home. I checked Angies's List and contacted Curt at Mold Inspections Speciaslists. I received a return call within 24 hours and we scheduled a time for Curt to come out the following week. He explained the process and outlined all the costs. The price increases for each air sample you have him take as they are sent to a lab for processing. An outdoor sample is required to determine that level for the area. Curt arrived for our scheduled visit and again explained the process making sure my questions were answered. $565 seemed like a lot to pay but it was reported that my home was well within the acceptable range for mold and I was able to cross mold off the list as the trigger for my allergies. Curt also gave me suggestions about how to improve the air quality in my home.

The report was very brief; we didn't have a lot of airborn mold spores. I was hoping that having a hygenist create a protocal would save some money on cleaning. As we did not have the airborn spores, I suppose it saved me from cleaning up the other floors of the building.

We got Kurt's name from Angie's list. From the initial call, he was very thorough in his description of what he does, the costs and the process. He was able to set up a visit time within a day or two. He was very prompt and walked us through what he was doing. Once the results came in, he called and spent a good 45 minutes walking us through what the results were, what they meant, and suggestions on what we should do. He was very patient answering questions and ensuring we understood everything.
