+ 0 moreThe energy audit discovered 3 significant sources of increased energy costs, two are related to heat loss while the third is an old and inefficient boiler for or downstairs radiator system. The audit took about one hour and utilized a front door mounted fan that drew air out of the house along with a handheld heat-sensor/camera. The tech was able to show us many areas in the home where added insulation would help lower our energy bill. We discussed many options during the audit and the follow-up report is a helpful road map for making the house more energy efficient.
Description of Work: Green Attic Insulation performed an energy audit on our 130 year old Workman's Cottage (renovation in 2005).

+ 0 moreAndrei arrived on time, set up a fan at front door and started going through the house with an infrared camera showing me the hot spots where air was getting in and showing me the points of lack of insulation. I was surprised! He stated that he would review all the pictures he took and give me an estimation of the levels that need insulation. Also checked for mold, asbestos and moisture intrusion. When he finished he stated that he would sent me a detailed list and costs for each level and what he thinks needs the most attention. On 9-25-14 I received the estimates on all levels, along with a follow up email if I had any questions to contact him. Very professional and informative, will be using him when we are able to start the work

+ -1 moreI found Green Attic on Angie's List. I read in one of the reviews that they worked with Peoples Gas' rebate program. I called and spoke with Oxanna. Her accent is heavy but I'm so happy that I stuck with it because she was very, very helpful. I had a tight window of time to get the work done and she was able to get me scheduled for an estimate quickly. Andrei came out and did the estimate quickly and very professionally. His estimate was emailed to me the next day as promised and Oxanna called to confirm that I received it. She then scheduled the job for the time frame we originally discussed. Charlie and his team were on time and professional. They covered my belongings to ensure they didn't get insulation on anything. After the job, they cleaned up very well. Their estimation of the amount of time it would take was accurate. That night I noticed my bathroom fan was louder than it used to be. I contacted Andrei and then Charlie and Demitri came to the house the next day. Come to find out, my bathroom fan wasn't originally installed correctly so an internal flap was stuck closed because of the increased amount of insulation. Demitri found a way to fix it for me. The end price was the same as the initial quote. It took the amount of time they said it would. They used the rebate program as promised. The entire team was friendly and professional. I highly recommend Green Attic!

+ 0 moreThey did as described, but the guy rattled off dozens of suggestions, far too fast to capture or remember. He reassured me he would send me the details in a report. I was looking forward to seeing which windows were leaking, which light switches had a draft, etc.,etc. They had said it would take 3 hours, he was done in about 45 minutes, so not sure of the quality of the analysis. I've never received a report and have no information on how to improve the efficiency of my house. In the end, this was a waste of money as I have no directly on how to improve.

+ -1 moreWhat happened is that i purchased an Angie's big deal promotion to have a home energy audit done by this company. at the time i exchanged a few messages with the company in May to set up a date for the audit. however, i was having other work done on my house, and that work got delayed so i postponed the audit. i called again in July to arrange scheduling for the audit but when i called repeatedly the company did not reply to any of the messages that i left. consequently, i sought a refund from Angie's list for the promotion. the refund was granted by Angie's list without issue.

+ 0 moreDmitri of Green Attic was excellent. He pressurized my house and then analyzed for leakage using state of the art equipment. He showed me what he was seeing on the infrared camera and where the areas of leakage was occurring. Dmitri provided me a rough estimate of what it would take to improve the efficiency of my house. But, more importantly, he advised that the cost to get my house from "good to great" in efficiency wouldn't provide an economical payback / ROI. Rather, he advised me of several low cost efficiency measures I could take to improve my current efficiency. I appreciated this honest assessment and constraint on "upselling" me. The $59.00 I paid for the audit and to find out my house is reasonably efficient was well worth it.

+ -1 moreI called Green Attic to help us after our sprinkler pipe broke in our attic during the polar vortex winter. Andrei first visited and did an assessment of the insulation in the attic. His team then installed new insulation for the attic, put in other protection for the pipes to prevent the pipe bursts in the future, and closed up other areas of air leakage. Andrei helped to get a rebate available from the gas company, so the cost was considerably reduced. The workers were impeccably clean, protected woodwork, and very thoughtful about cleanup. I am hoping to use them on a total energy efficiency assessment later this summer.

There was no message service or anything that picked up. I would have loved to get a quote from them, but it's hard to get a quote if their phone doesn't work.

We recently moved into this house, it was great to have a new set of eyes on the place. He was quick to point out issues he saw and was very honest about the options and value of fixing them. They were able to cut the price down by $1000.00. He was helpful, he explained the process and got the rebate for us. He did a very good job. They were clean, prompt and I would give them straight As.The job itself consisted of insulating and attic and some walls.

Just one guy came out to do the inspection, but three guys came out to do the repair. They had to remove a vent that was in the wrong place on the roof. It took them the day to do it.

Information gained from the audit will be very valuable as I decide how to spend the money I have set aside to save energy in the house. The only issue was that they were late but they called to make me aware of the issue. They sealed the house, blew air out and used a thermal imagery device to detect the issues in the house. They also tested the efficiency of the furnace and hot water heater. They also provide a written report with copies of the relevant thermal pictures and a list of recommendations.

+ -1 moreI don't know how many people they've got with the company, whether it's a large company or an individual, but he was absolutely fine. He gave me all the information I needed. He did what they said they were going to do.They did come through. They did show me the infra-red readings with what was going on. He showed up when he was supposed to. I did not have them do the work. But it's because of the cost. I had to watch my things and find out how much I was going to need. It has nothing to do with him. But I'm retired. I only have so much dollars coming in. So I have put that off. I fully intend to be calling him back to have him do it. But at this point, I have not done that. There were no additional charges beyond the big deal amount.
