+ -1 moreIt went OK. The guy who came out was friendly and thorough. However, the company promised a report with the pictures that were taken, and I've never received the final report, nor any follow-up about correcting any of the problems.

Description of Work: Had a complete home audit to assess the efficiency of my home's insulation, heating and energy use. Pretty thorough inspection and a number of cracks and air leaks were identified that I can easily seal. Tested our Boiler and Water Heater for efficiency to make sure they were working as they should.

+ 0 moreGreen attic insulation provided me with a free estimate of the insulation for my attic and basement. They also did a thorough energy audit. I needed the basement insulated ASAP as my walls were open and they scheduled me for work within 2 days. They also went out of their way to provide me a fast estimate as my work needed to be done promptly. They finished the work in a day cleaned after themselves. We were provided a warranty. Our basement is much warmer now savings us on energy bills. We will definately use their services again in future.

+ 0 moreThey showed up late but once they arrived they spent their time and showed us areas of concern where we were not efficient in air leaks etc. they also proposed ways to fix the areas. They said they would provide a proposal but we never received one. We contacted them and they replied after a delay apologetic but we still didn't receive it. We contacted again and was sent the info but there were a few things we had questions about but we decided not to have them do the work since there were so many concerns with communications.

This is just the kind of responsiveness one would want in a service provider.

+ 2 moreShowed me in detail all of the drafts and cold spots that I didn't even know of. Using his thermal imaging camera gave me a look inside of my walls, floors and ceilings to see all of the heat loss due to either little to no insulation. What areas need caulking and sealing. Checked the efficiency of the furnace and hot water heater. He gave me recommendations on fixing the problems. Very worth the price paid for this information. This type of service should be performed on all new homes and this audit should be passed on to the buyers to make them aware of the homes insulating properties.

One thing I noticed about their company which I don't see very often is that the workers seemed to take great pride in the type of work they do and the quality of the finished product. Whenever I got home from work they were always excited to show me the progress they had made. They were really enthusiastic about showing how they were able to plaster over the holes they had made and get everything as smooth as possible (it was *really* smooth). One guy in particular, Charlie,
Description of Work: 1. ATTIC 3d floor ceiling as follows: Cut necessary strip of drywall to access ceiling space. Staple netting to hold the insulation in place and blow-in cellulose insulation to the full capacity. 2. Same procedure 2nd FLOOR ADDITION ceiling and walls. 3. Basic drywall repair of drywall back. Plaster/mud and sanding quoted separately, no paint. 4. AIR SEALING INTERIOR weather-strip doors, caulking around baseboard, core around, windows and doorframes, fire block spray foam light fixture and outlets. 5. CRAWLPSACE insulation ceiling with blow-in cellulose insulation and laundry room rim joist insulation with rigid foam board and spray foam. 6 mil plastic crawlspace floor sealed 6inches around the perimeter going up the wall. 6. EXTERIOR seal the edges around the siding with caulking for exterior use to stop infiltration between siding and exterior wall of the house. Work area and path to work area to be protected with plastic or drop cloths to protect homeowners flooring.

After this confusion was addressed everything went very smooothly. Dimitu, the technician, was very efficient and knowledgeable and provided a suggested action plan including prioritizing the various items in terms of cost benefit.
Description of Work: Energy audit using apparatus to exhaust hot air causing cold air to enter and be identifed with and infrared camera. It was very thorough and clearly presented the problems we need to address.

The bottom line was a blanket of loose insulation for my attic which I am considering. I have a 3 story home, and the tech's visit was very thorough for a $50 job.

I had questions about the completed work and Dimitri came out and went over completed job. I was very satisfied with the work. + 0 moreVery frustrating experience. Purchased deal on 8/19. Originally had appointment set for 9/2. They contacted me and said there was an internal scheduling issue and that I needed to be rescheduled. No problem. Those things happen. After much back and forth, because they were consistently scheduling 3+ weeks out and I travel for work, we settled on an appointment on 11/5...almost 3 months after deal purchase. They then called day of appointment saying that technician had car trouble and that they needed to reschedule...and that we couldn't be rescheduled until the last week of November. If they would have said they could have someone come out the next day, we could live with that, but not three more weeks. If they're that busy, good for them, but we're tired of waiting. Many A.L. vendors we've worked with have gone out of their way to accommodate and service us. This doesn't seem to be the case with this vendor. Too much time was wasted and we're now at the beginning of winter weather and have yet to have our insulation inspected, let alone any service performed.

+ 2 moreAndrei came on the morning scheduled. He set up a fan over the front door and slightly de-pressurized the house. We then walked around the house with his thermal imaging camera. We started in the basement and finished on the second floor. Andrei explained what we were seeing on the camera and how to best approach prioritizing insulation and related improvements. He also inspected and took some measurements of my furnace and water heater. It took a little over an hour for the inspection. Andrei subsequently sent me a detailed report with thermal and regular pictures and a quote for the insulation work he recommends. He also advised me of a rebate available from the gas company, which I was not previously aware of. Andrei was knowledgeable and professional.

+ 0 moreA disaster. Had to reschedule twice. Took off work to be here. Sent us a list of things to do before the audit, including cleaning out the interior of the chimney for all fireplaces. Person came, Andrei, I think. Wandering around the house making comments such as "you should install CFL's - when in fact we have either CFL's or LED's in all fixtures except the dining room. His infrared camera never did work. I tried to help him with the device. Some story that he did not have his usual device and had to borrow one from someone else. He never did a blower test. Said he could come back with an instrument that would work. Ended up arguing with my wife with regard to what type of insulation might make our garage less cold. "D" grade is probably a gift.
