The floors were in horrible shape and I had limited expectations for what anyone could do with them . I was astonished when I saw how good they looked. They glowed. And there was no saw/sanding powder any place. I would recommend these guys and their method to my best friend without any reservations. Another thing: my job was relatively small and inexpensive. That didn't deter them. THANK YOU MODERN QUALITY!

This was the second time we used modern quality flooring to refinish hardwood floors (new home). They were excellent both times. Floors look amazing and there was NO mess or dust whatsoever when they were finished. I would recommend them to anyone.

A+ for Danny and Modern Quality Flooring! We had several different crews on our rehab project, and Danny was the best by far! He was responsive and fairly priced on quote, was clear about what they would do, and answered all of our questions. The MQ crews covered everything in plastic, Danny put down several color samples to choose from (in 2 different rooms due to different light). The MQ crew showed up on time every day, Danny was very communicative and asked us when a decision needed to be made. There was minimal dust and they cleaned up every day before leaving. Overall, Danny was knowledgeable and professional, he stuck with us when our project was delayed, and he completed even the smallest details of our project. The results were fantastic. We very highly recommend Danny and MQ Flooring!

We had a week before we were to move into our home when I contacted Modern Quality Flooring for a quote. They quoted it quickly. We were still waiting for the last quote from the 3rd company on the following Monday. Out of the 3 companies we contacted they were the only one to follow up on their estimate. Price is not alway the only or best reason to choose a vendor, however in this case they did have the best price. We had no expectation of having the job done by the time we moved on the following Friday but that is exactly what happened. This was so important to us because the movers were able to to put the furniture where it belonged without the need for us to have to do it ourselves later on. The risers on the stairs need to be painted, they even recommended a painter to do the job. Not only did the painter do that but I asked if he could also do plaster repair and painting of the dinning room wall which was completely covered with a mirror a week before. Beautiful work! Speaking of beautiful work, the floor is fantastic! We can't praise Modern Quality Flooring enough. Thanks again for such a great job.

This is the second job Modern has done for us and the reason we used them here was based on the performance of the initial job. They delivered again on job 2. They were very flexible and the job turned out great. The job was done during the bitter cold so the flexibility was important because of how the job was organized. Danny answered all our questioned, was very clear on what he would do and adaptable to incorporate a couple changes once the job started. There was a need to get a plumber to make some changes and Danny was able to co-ordinate and get that accomplished as well. As always they cleaned up after they left an kept things organized. Idf you are looking for competitive pricing, flexibility, a job executed to spec then these are whom you should use. We are already planning our 3rd job with them later this year

They were great. Very professional and prompt and good quality service It wasn't cheap but they did a nice job and I really liked that they were willing and able to do some light moving of furniture along with doing the floors.

An A-rated company should not commit only to do a no call, no show. In Danny's defense, he was unwell and offered sincere apologies.

Excellent work. Purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for hardwood floor refinishing. My floors were in really, really bad shape and in the course of a day, Danny had them looking stunningly beautiful. He did an amazing job and I'm so happy we found his company through Angies List.

This project was handled professionally and the results are fantastic! Danny Arnautu's team arrived 10 minutes before the agreed upon start time and worked tirelessly through the day. We could not be happier with the results,and will definitely recommend Modern Quality Flooring to friends and family. We will certainly use their services again if we have another project in our next home.

It went very well. Danny was responsive to my calls and work was booked to start exactly when I wanted it to. They came in about $1,000 and 3 days less to complete the work than the other quote I received.

I can't speak highly enough about Danny and Modern Quality Flooring. We've lived in our River North condo for almost 10 years. We had ebony (yes, jet black) hardwood installed throughout the unit when we moved-in. Over the years wear-and-tear (including two Pugs) had taken their toll. It wasn't pretty. We did a search on Angie's List, RFP'd a number of qualified firms, (including the obvious names) and received several written estimates. Modern Quality Flooring submitted the lowest cost bid. The highest was approximately double their number. We were hesitant to award the work to the lowest bidder, but Danny's obvious knowledge of his craft and passion for his work won us over. We were not disappointed. They exceeded our expectations by every measure. I have to say our floors look better than when they were new. Danny and his team were punctual, polite and professional. I highly recommend Modern Quality Flooring.

I bought a Big Deal from Modern Quality Flooring (MQF) based on other customer reviews. We were not ready to have the work done when we bought the deal, but Danny (the owner/co-owner) from MQF was very accommodating with our long delay and a couple of reschedules, and also, my last minute addition of repairing/replacing a flooring section where I recently removed a closet. Danny and his crew showed up on time, and were kind enough to move one piece of furniture that my wife and I were unable to move by ourselves. I wasn't sure if my floor was stained instead of just natural color. Turns out it was stained, however, they were able to match the previous color almost exactly. I would have preferred that they come out prior to the service date to see the job first because I like to avoid surprises, but, I think this is partly due to the nature of purchasing a Big Deal. The job went smoothy, and the sanding was mostly dustless as promised. I did put up plastic between rooms as an added precaution. Danny left after a few hours once the repair was finished to my liking and the stain color was decided upon. His remaining two man crew worked very hard to finish sanding, staining, etc. The job took from 8am to 5:45pm with a short lunch break. They cleaned up well after themselves. I was attracted to MQF in part because of their claim of using low odor, safe finishes because we have two small children and a dog. However, if we wanted a more durable finish (and who wouldn't), that particular finish was going to have a VERY strong odor (and it did). I would of liked to know this prior, as now we needed to make arrangements to stay the night somewhere. Luckily, my sister-in-law has a large house not to far away from us and was able to accommodate us. The price was higher than we expected due to requiring stain, and the repair was more involved than originally thought because of sub-standard installation by the original installer. Talking on the phone with another highly rated floor refinishing company prior to MQFs work, it sounded like the repair cost was on par. I have never had this type of work done before, so, I don't really have anything to compare it to. Overall, the repaired section turned out great, and the floor finish looks real good. I am happy with MQF and would recommend them. My only complaint is they could do a little better job providing all the details of the job up front so I could have been better prepared about the cost and the odor.

I'm really happy with my decision to choose Modern Quality Flooring. Danny and his team were wonderful to work with. Danny is completely trustworthy, honest, and responsive. He explained everything so that I would have a clear picture of how all the work would be done and the timeline of it all. His team is super friendly and hard working. They went out of their way to play with stain and make sure that I got exactly what I wanted. The floors look fantastic (even better than when the place was built) and I'm grateful to them for making the whole process pretty painless. Not to mention quick too! Knock on wood that I never have to have my floors installed again, but if I did, I would choose Modern Quality Flooring again.

Modern Quality Flooring did a great job on our floors. We have a very old house with original hardwood floors that are a soft pine and were stained a medium-dark brown, and they were showing lots of scratches, dents, and the stain had worn off in some areas. Modern Quality Flooring came out quickly for a quote, and were responsive, flexible when I had to reschedule our original date, showed up on time, kept me informed of what they were doing, and painted samples of the stain color on the floor so that I had a clear idea of what color they would be on the specific wood of our floor. They also give the option of matte, satin, or gloss finishes and of an odorless water-based clear coat, or a more odorous but stronger clear coat and allow you to choose--I did not feel they pushed me in any direction but left it up to me. We ended up choosing the smelly clear coat, even though we were at home when the work was being done (open windows and fans helped a lot), so that it would be stronger and help protect better against our dog scratches. The finished the sanding, staining, and two coats of clearcoat by early afternoon, then just had to stop by the next day to finish up the last coat of clearcoat, which only took about an hour. Our floors is nice and shiny, the new color really brightened the room, and we are very happy that we got this done! Everyone was polite and all-business, meaning they were quick and efficient and got everything done professionally. I would recommend Modern Quality Flooring to anyone wanting a nice job on their hardwood floors.

Danny and his team did a great job on my floors. I had water damage from a leaking fridge. They removed the damaged wood and replaced with new boards. The seams are flawless and unnoticeable that the wood was replaced. Before refinishing all the floor, Danny sanded a 3x6 section of the floor and put down 8 sample stains for me to look at for a day before they began. He coated them with sealer so I could see what it would look like finished. I went on vacation and they got to work. The job was done timely so the sealer could dry while I was gone. I had a sizable amount of floor todo with many varying edges. They installed new quarter round trim around the entire house that made contact with the hardwood. I came home to a beautiful modern hardwood floor. Job well done Danny! Thanks

Danny was very professional from the start. He provided me with one of the better quotes and actually went lower before all was said and done. He was very flexible and was able to come the next day to start work. He came with three other people who did the work without being a nuisance. All of them were very friendly and got the job done efficiently and quickly. I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends.

Danny and his crew did a great job on this job from the quoting to cleanup. We selected Danny because of his completeness when quoting the job and his knowledge and clarity on what was required for the job. The job is in a high rise and he explained the steps, reviewed the condo rules and answered all our questions. He has to remove thresholds and match levels of some existing wood flooring and 2 bathroom tile levels. Additionally he had to match the stain of the existing wood floors. Danny came in when schedule, was punctual with starting and stopping each day and he brought all the equipment and materials that were required to complete the job. He and his crew cleaned up when they left going well beyond what we expected. Overall he removed carpet strips, removed baseboard and shoe moldings, installed a new sub floor, installed the wood, sanded stained and sealed the color and reinstalled the moldings. He removed all doors and cut to length and reinstalled them. The results look great and I know it was done properly. He consulted with us as the project went on so we knew what was happening and could plan timing. I am considering using them for some tile work in the bathroom and would definitely use them again

Danny (the owner) and the two employees who worked at our house, Luis and Ricardo, are very professional, hard-working , efficient, honest and personable. They are a pleasure to work with: they arrived before 7:30 and worked almost nonstop for ten hours the first two days. They finished by 2:00 the third day. They really know what they are doing! Their experience shows. They cleaned thoroughly as they went along, so that the dust was not an issue even after extensive sanding. The floors look beautiful. They helped me pick the right color stain for our home, and told me how to care for it. We are extremely pleased with Modern Quality Flooring and would hire them again. They were recommended to us by our son and daughter-in-law, who had found them on Angie’s List.

The last time we did this at another home - it was a mess. The previous floor company said they had a "Dustless" system but they lied. We were cleaning dust off of everywhere for days. The dust was everywhere! Danny and his crew came in - helped us move our furniture, and sealed all of our rooms so that if there were any residual dust, it would not enter other areas. They promised 4-5 five days for the project but finished after 3. They went out of their way to answer any questions that we had. I was a little concerned about the stain color selection as we were having custom cabinets made. Danny took his time and actually showed me about 5 different colors on one area of the floor once that they had sanded a bit. He then came up with his own custom combination color which turned out perfect. There was very little dust that occurred with their system which was wonderful. Their price was reasonable and the project went very smoothly. I would highly recommend this company to everyone. Our floors look great!

The crew came in as scheduled. They "sealed" the dining room to to contain the dust created by sanding off the old finish and the spent considerable time fine tuning the stain for a "perfect" match. They were able to apply two coats of poly urethane al in the same day. And they were careful to clean up after themselves.

Danny and the staff of Modern Quality Flooring were excellent. Our floors had some buckling due to water damage which they completely fixed. The entire condo looked like it had brand new floors. There were a couple of minor gaps in the wood which probably cannot be fixed, but Danny was willing to come back to try to fix it anyway. Their prices were very reasonable compared to other providers and I would definitely use them again. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for top quality work at a fair price.

The owner, Danny, was very accommodating and professional. My floors looked amazing when he finished. I had a tight window to get the project done before moving into my home. Danny accommodated my tight schedule and did a great job.
