After being connected I explained my problem. The man I spoke to was very knowledgeable. He asked some follow up questions and once realizing I had a heat pump system regretfully informed me he didnt have any technicians trained to service my type of unit. instead of our phone call ending here he proceeded to give me some best guess diagnoses of the problem over the phone and gave me specific next steps on how to best prepare the heat pump for another company to avoid extra charges. I was so appreciative of his assistance and honesty and would not hesitate to use them in the future once they have someone trained on heat pumps.

The furnace at our "new" (1925) house stopped working so we called our warranty company. They sent out their designated heating & cooling company to inspect the furnace, at which point it was discovered the furnace had a cracked heat exchanger (thanks for missing that one Mr. home inspector). It was recommended we replace the furnace. It was an old 80% efficiency model, so I opted to take the cash-out from the warranty company and upgrade to a higher efficiency (95%) model. The folks at the warranty's designated heating & cooling company were nice enough, but I wanted to get a second opinion & quote, so I contacted Freedom after seeing their high ratings on Angie's list. Pete, the owner, came out personally to assess the situation and provide a quote. I found that he was very knowledgeable and instantly provided value by making recommendations that the other company did not think of. This included turning the furnace to face the other way and running PVC pipe to the opposite side of our house (which faces up against the neighbor's house) so that the pipe would not be visible from the street. Since our furnace was close to the stairs, turning the furnace would also be safer in the event of a fire. He provided a quote instantly and even pointed to the exact model number of the furnace he would be installing so there would be no surprises. Pete was easy to talk to and did not try to pressure or up-sell. Even with the extra mods required with turning the furnace and the extra pvc pipe, the quote for a comparable furnace (Carrier performance series) still came in below that of the other quote I received. We decided to go with Freedom for the work and scheduling was also quick and easy. The individuals who came to do the work showed up on team, were very polite, and definitely went the extra mile. They took great care and made additional effort to ensure the new piping was run in a very concealed manner, installed a condensation pump that now drains into our utility sink (as opposed to having a moldy hose going across our basement floor to our drain), and they cleaned up after themselves. I'm pretty sure the basement was cleaner after they left compared to when they arrived. Also, we had ordered a new nest thermostat which was giving them trouble to install (it turned out the nest unit was faulty), and while they were troubleshooting noticed our wiring was not done very well, so they re-did all of the wiring for no additional charge. They even came back out for no extra charge to install the new nest unit after it arrived from the company (which now works flawlessly), and we had them service the a/c unit and water heater while they were out. Bottom line, it always feels good to come across a company you know you can trust and rely on to treat your house as if it were their own, and I'll definitely be using their services again in the future.

Freedom sent crew of three experienced installers and they arrived at 9:00 am as promised. Then spent the day removing all the old and installing the new as agreed upon in the proposal. The crew was very professional and courteous. It was evident these three men knew what they were doing. During and after installation they took time to answer all questions and upon completion took time to instruct us how to use and maintain everything just installed. They hauled all the old away leaving the work areas in the house and garage spotless. Kudos to Pete and his Crew ! We received everything as promised and more and will be relying on Freedom Heating and Cooling from now on.

Was awesome. Willy serviced our unit (2nd time he came out in last year. First time was to service our A/C) and did a great job cleaning and inspecting it. Like last time, he thoroughly explained everything he was doing and provided tips, etc. to save money on gas and electric cost. He was friendly, easy to talk with and work with overall. It went great! They found an issue with our unit and did the repairs. They were very knowledgeable and helpful in answering my questions. This was the first time I had used them, and I would use them again in the future as well as recommend them to others.

Freedom Heating & Cooling did a fantastic job. I had been having furnace issues and new it was time for a cleaning. Freedom was prompt and preossional. They cleaned and ispected my furnace and diagnosed a defective part. I really apprecicated how they walked me through the issue and had the parts on hand to complete the repair. I would highly recommend their services and they even a great preventaive care service plan.

I called the company to set up the appt and they told me there would be an additional charge of $89 for a roof-top AC unit. (The owner called me to tell me that if I provided the ladder, there wouldn't be an additional charge. Is he kidding?) I live in the city in a condo. I do not own a ladder. This additional charge was not in the Fine Print of the ad that was emailed to me. I consider this very misleading and a huge waste of my time. Had that been there, I would not have taken the time to purchase it. I am very disappointed that my first purchase of one of your Big Deals turned out so poorly. I would like a refund for this. The technician was polite enough, but seemed focused on "the upsell" when it came to the AC units and the hot water heater. Trying to get me to add cooling agent (though it was almost full) and add a surge protector to both units (it has one built in). I did purchase an upsell on the coupler for the hot water heater because (even though it was only 3 years old) it was not running optimally as it should. I was put off by three things: 1. the technician smelled of smoke (as someone who is allergic to smoke, I had to go around my house afterwards to get the smell out) 2. the technician put 3 LARGE self-promotion stickers for FREEDOM HEATING on the outside of my new AC condensers. Not 1 or 2 - but 3 - all without permission. I peeled them off and the cheap stickers left residue all over that dirt will collect in. Very TACKY move for their own self promotion that defaced my property in my back yard. They'd be better served giving me a magnet. He also put a huge sticker on my hot water heater (at least 8.5 x 5.5 inches) that won't come off. MADE A HUGE MESS that looks awful. 3. the technician seemed keen on having me fill out by hand an Angie's List reference that he would turn in and then FREEDOM would put on the service. That seemed really fishy to me given reviews should (IMO) be added by the customer. He pushed pretty hard and I considered it, but after reading the fine print it seemed odd to me. I'm glad I didn't because I didn't see the stickers he plastered without permission on the outside condenser or hot water heater until after he left. ALWAYS GET PERMISSION before you mark someone else's property, Rick!

The technician was nice enough, not super knowledgeable, but not unskilled or unfriendly by any means. But the management was kind of slimy and we definitely felt like we got the "run around" when it came time to settle up. We ended up spending $650 (in addition to the original $55 pre-purchased package) for a part that cost around $100 (per 3 different furnace part company's websites). When we spoke to a manager about the price of the service and part, he had a long, convoluted explanation about why this was incorrect and he would not budge on the price. Since it was December, extremely cold, and I was and still am pregnant, we ended up agreeing to pay what they asked because otherwise we would have been without heat. If it had been any warmer out we would have sent them packing and gotten a second opinion. Now, I know I'm not a furnace expert and admit that they could have been telling us the complete truth about the price discrepancy, but we just didn't feel like we could trust what they were telling us because of their attitude and demeanor. We were happy to have heat and we haven't had any furnace problems since, but when all was said and done my husband and I just felt swindled. Overall it was a bad experience and I would never hire this company again.
