I had bought a deal where the furnace, A/C and hot water heater were supposed to be inspected in a new house we bought. When the service person arrived he thought it was for the furnace only, but he was able to quickly straighten things out.

I had initially requested this service in error, and asked that my credit card not be assessed the $29 fee and the transaction be cancelled. Soon thereafter, I received an email confirming the transaction. A nice gentleman later called me to schedule the inspection, but after a brief conversation, we both realized that I lived outside the company's service area. The gentleman said that Angie's list would refund my $29 service fee. The gentleman that I spoke to was a very warm and professional representative of the company!

I called Freedom for the first time this morning at 7:05am (this is on a Saturday), and spoke with Pete, the owner. I informed Pete that I needed a second opinion on what could be a failed boiler. He said that he could have someone come out later in the day to check it out, but that he would call me back in 10 minutes. I was very pleased that he thought he could get someone to come out at all on the very day I called. As he promised, Pete called me back in 10 minutes and let me know that he would have two technicians at my house within the hour. At this point, it was 7:15am on a Saturday! Hard to believe that a company could be THAT responsive. .Quick backstory: The reason I called Freedom for a second opinion is that another company (also highly rated on Angie's List) came out to my house yesterday and after a cursory look inside my boiler, informed me I needed to buy a new boiler (Quotes for Option #1 $6,600.00; Option #2 $10,000). Time to call Freedom. So--back to this morning. Willie and Max from Freedom arrived within the hour and got to work before 8:30am on my boiler. I was already singing the praises of Freedom's responsiveness. Definitely felt taken care of as a customer from the start. Long story short, Willie and Max did a full inspection of the boiler and pipes, electric and electronic components, pulled the boiler open, and explained each step to me along the way. They were very helpful, patient, and professional as they proceeded through their tasks. So here's the clincher: They got into the boiler, and saw that it was badly covered over with probably 10 years+ of accumulated soot (We've been in the house just a year). They proceeded to brush and scrape the soot (a nasty job), then vacuumed it all up, cleaning all surfaces they saw. These guys earned their pay. They had masks on but were still coughing and hacking from all the soot. They cleaned the entire boiler (copper fin), and then called in to double check with their boiler guru about proper settings. Willie confirmed the correct setting, and double checked the pilot and thermocouple, double-checked everything before reassembling. Willie and Max then tested the entire system, explained and tested the two-zone setup we have, confirmed that the water pumps were working correctly, and then Max took me through the house to test the functioning of each radiator. In one bathroom it seemed one radiator was not getting hot water through the intake pipe (which was very warm to the touch). Max got to it and worked on the valve, and confirmed that the radiator was now getting hot water through the feed. Wille and Max answered every question I asked, and I asked plenty. They basically taught me all I needed to know about the ins and outs of the boiler, radiator, and two-zone heating system in my house, which I bought a year ago. All that for $634. (That other company gave me two options for a new boiler for either $6000 or $11000). I was never so happy to pay 600 bucks, let me tell you. I've already called them to arrange work on a minor valve issue they identified as not urgent but needing repair. So, to recap: 1) The company boss (Pete) personally picks up my call at 7:05 on a Saturday morning 2) Pete calls back when he said he would (10 minutes later) and says a team of his guys will be at my house within the hour. 3) Willie and Max arrive within the hour and work hard to test, clean, fix, and retest my entire home heating system. 4) Willie and Max inspect, diagnose, clean, and fix my boiler system, all while patiently teaching me all about the ins and outs of how my house heating system works. 5) Per Pete's instructions, Willie and Max charge me for the standard labor rate (not the elevated weekend rate). It was fantastic. Freedom has earned my customer loyalty, par excellence. Thanks guys!

It didn't. Only thing that happened was a Fraudulent charge to my credit card for service not completed. Two calls to Angie's list during published business hours were not answered.
Description of Work: Nothing. Immediately after I paid for their special and furnace service, I received a message advising me that my address was outside their service area. No refund was issued. I will contact Angie's list for a refund and follow up on their response.

They (2Men) arrived on time and went about their work in a professional manner. left the work area in a clean and orderly manner. They were very efficient and pointed out things I should no about my furnace. The original installer 2 years ago just did the installation but did not point out things I should do.t o keep the furnace in good working order. I will use this company on any future work on my AC, Furnace or Water heater. Both men were very courteous and answered all my questions in a professional manner. THEY WERE A+++++++.

Nick arrived promptly and was very courteous and friendly. He did a thorough job of cleaning and inspecting the unit. He advised that unit and blower were old, but still working fine, so no need to replace. I was very happy with the great price on the Angie's List big deal, and with the great service. I will definitely use them again!

Prompt and professional. They did suggest that our furnace needed a few more parts, which always makes me a little bit skeptical, BUT it's possible that our furnace really did need those parts. It's hard to know exactly what to do when you yourself are so ignorant of the way your furnace functions. They have never tried to sell me on stuff before, however, so that suggests they were making suggestions in good faith.

A/C Unit was on the roof so was more there was an additional charge to pull ladder (I do not remember that being disclosed in the deal. When scheduling, i informed them the A/C was on the roof, the service person did not seem to have received that information. Service person was less than enthusiastic that the unit was on the roof and made that know.

Our experience with trying to get an appointment scheduled with Freedom Heating and Cooling was challenging and disappointing. On our first attempt to have someone look at the HVAC at our rental property, my husband was to arrive at 3:30pm but due to traffic he arrived 15-20 minutes late. My husband didn't have his cell phone. He arrived home that night and told me that he arrived late and they had already left by the time he arrived. I contacted Freedom Heating and Cooling that evening. The woman who answered the phone said "we have been trying to call you all day". I informed her I had not received a call all day and asked which number she had called. It was a wrong number. I told her we did not have a phone number that started with 773 and gave her the correct numbers. She said the worker waited 30 minutes (until 4pm) and then left. While the worker may have stated he stayed until 4pm, my husband arrived at 3:45pm and there was no one there. At the time I spoke with the woman on the phone, she immediately scheduled another appointment for the next evening. I asked her to call my work number if there was a problem, as my husband could not be reached all day. I didn't hear anything from them during the day. I left the office around 5:30pm and heard a message left on my cellphone at 8:30am that morning stating they were too busy and there was no way they could make the appointment that day. Because they had called my cell phone (which doesn't work in the building) instead of my work number, my husband ended up driving out to the rental property and waited. This was the second time things didn't work out but we thought we would try again because the reviews on Angie's List were so good. We scheduled a third appointment with Freedom Heating and Cooling. My husband called to confirm the appointment - We were not on their schedule! They also still had the incorrect 773 number as our contact number. Strike 3 - we were done trying to get an appointment with Freedom Heating and Cooling. Funny enough, I received a phone call a week to two weeks later from Freedom Heating and Cooling to confirm an appointment the following day. I called to let them know we had already attempted 3 times to schedule an appointment and it didn't work out. I explained what had happened and the man was very apologetic. I thanked him for his apologies and let him know we were finding another company to do the work.

Hi there, let me first begin by apologizing for what had seemed to be an abundance of miscommunication. With respect to that, we do follow a certain protocol for all of our customers, one being that we do call one day at the very least to confirm our appointment on the phone number provided to us, and our technicians do call when they are on their way to the addresses in which they will be servicing. When we do not receive an answer or a call back for either call we do have to dispatch the next call that is scheduled on our list that does in fact confirm that they are at the property and ready for us to come in to do the work. In these types of happenings we do try to fit an appointment within the next day if at all possible, but for that particular date we were unable to due to the fact that that day was extremely booked. That next day we really did try to accommodate you by trying to see if we could move anything in the schedule around to make every attempt to try to get someone out to your address yet we were unable to and we did call and left a message at 8:30 am to make sure you knew that we couldn't for that particular day. You did confirm with us that you had received the message from us and after 5:30 pm and had stated that your husband was there waiting for us. At that point we did speak of getting on another scheduled appointment which was for October 16 th. of 2014 and it was at that point we received the cell number of your husbands to make sure we can be able to communicate better whether he would be at the property for that day. When we had set up the schedule, we had spoken to your husband for the proper timing in which we could meet. At the time of this conversation we had agreed to leave the time open with him due to the fact that he wouldn't know exactly when would be the best time, so we left the schedule open until he could call back for when the best time for him would be. Two days before the day that was scheduled we had noticed that a time was not set, so we gave you guys a call to try to make sure what time was best for you, in which we had to leave a message because there was no answer. Late that evening at 8:30 pm the owner did receive a call from you, in which you stated your aggravation with. We do truly apologize we could not come to a better conclusion as to how to service you better in this situation, we really wanted to make every attempt in contacting either you or your husband to make sure that we were there in a timely manner so that we wouldn't miss an appointment with either one of you. If you do decide to give us a chance in the future we will make sure that the communication is much more definitive so that we will not have to have you guys go through this again. We really did try to make every effort to accommodate you in this, and we truly want you to know that we would never intentionally try to upset you by any means.
