Jim was very professional. He emailed me and called me right back when I was trying to contact him for pricing/availability. He came out to the house during the inspection, was early, and setup the equipment. He told me that he had to turn the heat up to accommodate the readings and to ensure quality results. Within 2 days he had a report emailed to us - as guaranteed/expected - and we were able to say that the house was at a low level for radon and passed with flying colors.

I had a terrible experience with JBL. BUYER BEWARE! During scheduling of the radon test I called and received a quote of 150$ for the first test and 35$ for an additional test, a total of 185$. Jim arrived was friendly and began to setup his equipment. While setting up the second box upstairs my wife asked him if the test results could be used as the required test that the State Of Illinois Requires for a licensed home daycare. At that time Jim told us that we needed a ?Special? report for a home day and that it cost more. Instead of 185$ we paid 300$. What I learned a week later is that for a ?Home? daycare you do not need a special report. When I called Jim to very kindly suggest that he may have not understood the requirements he quickly began talking in circles. We spent what seemed like 15 minutes talking in circles. He was not interested at all in what I was saying or even the fact that the State Of Illinois / DCFS states I am correct. I even gave him a chance to prove me wrong by emailing me a link that showed I was wrong. In short he hung up. I would have been happy with him simply refunding me the 115$ he charged me for a special report he insisted I needed. After all he told us we needed it when in fact we did not. Please visit the IEMA and DCFS website to educate yourself before this happens to you.

It was a great experience. He came into the home, installed the RADON detection unit, came back when he stated he would, and provided us with the needed report. This was a great experience.

We were so pleased with their service and turn around time on the results. They were very professional.

The price was decent and competitive. The service went pretty well. They delivered the report on time. They did the testing within the timeline that I wanted them to.

My relative had radon and is now seeking mitigation to fix the problem.

Jim was very prompt and courteous throughout the whole process, and his estimate was right on. He followed up with his report as soon as the test was complete, and it helped us get a radon mitigation system installed before the closing.

I never met the guy. I only talked to him on the phone. The results came back high. I thought he was fair and he did the job. He did the radon test and provided me with the results. He had the litigation system installed and retested. He was nice, thorough and got the job done. The home owners at the time were not very cooperative but he worked well with them.

It was a very good experience. They were punctual and explained everything very well. My daughter was very happy with it. Their prices are standard. They were responsive and punctual.

Jim was professional and accommodating. He answered his phone at 9 at night which was surprising. I figured I would be leaving a message. JBL worked with our schedule and our realtor's schedule to get the testing done. He found elevated levels which were re-mediated by the Seller prior to our moving in. The Seller actually used JBL as well which was nice since when Jim did the retest he found the levels to be well within safe limits.

I was selling my home and had to get the radon system checked before closing. The service person explained to me in detail where he would be placing the system in my home and what I had to do on my end. I was very happy with the professionalism shown by the service person.

I didn't actually meet Jim, the owner and test administrator, but phone and email communication was prompt and efficient. Jim does a real nice job setting up the test, putting up warning signs at doors, and I received the report on the day the 24 hour test ended. This is the second time I've used JBL to perform a radon test. As a repeat customer a discount was offered which I greatly appreciated. Jim is a complete professional. He explained how the test worked and he told me that I would only require one monitor for the home. He was very flexible in scheduling the appointment at the home. As the test requires a 48 hour period there is some bit of coordination required so that Jim can place his monitor and then pick it up and compile his results. Everything went well. Jim was always punctual throughout. He promptly sent the test results when he said they would be ready. I would definitely use him again.

This is the second time I've worked with JBL to have a house tested for radon. Just like the first time, working with JBL was a very convenient and an inexpensive way to feel assured that our future home did not have excessive levels of radon gas. I paid $135 for the test, which included a $5 surcharge paid to PayPal for the transaction cost. I felt this was very reasonable and perhaps a little bit lower than competitors. JBL also provides a discount to repeat customers. I felt JBL was very thorough in setting up the test. Since Jim was setting up the test equipment at the same time as the home inspection, I could see just how thorough he was labeling the thermostat and doors to make sure no one would accidentally do anything to invalidate the test results. Also, I felt the report was very thorough. It had a drawing of exactly where the test equipment was placed in the house and also the test results during the entire 48-hour testing period. I also impressed with the fact that I called Jim on a Monday and asked him to come out the next day to start the test. Jim had no problem working on such short notice. Finally, Jim was also very professional. As mentioned, I scheduled the test for the same time as the home inspection, and Jim worked very well with my home inspector so that he could setup the equipment without interfering with any of the work the inspector was doing.

Overall (A): Working with JBL to have the house tested for radon gas was extremely easy to do and relatively inexpensive given the peace of mind you get out from knowing what the radon level is in your home. Price (A): JBL's price was lower than competitor's advertised pricing. Plus, the pricing is clearly listed on the website, so there were no surprises. Finally, JBL also accepts PayPal payments, which was convenient (however, there is a $5 surcharge to cover PayPal's transaction costs.) Quality (A): JBL was thorough when setting up the radon detection equipment and issued a detailed report with the test results. In the report, JBL clearly indicated where the radon detectors were placed in the house (with a drawing) and what the radon measurements were over the entire testing period. Also, JBL was very thorough in terms of placing warning labels to deter anyone from inadvertently "skewing" the test results by using the fireplace or adjusting the thermostat, etc. Responsiveness (A): Jim was very responsive to both my emails and phone calls. I ended up having to call him a couple of times to arrange the testing time, and Jim answered my calls everytime. Puntuality (A): Jim was very punctual with the test and provided us with the report. The 48 hour testing period happened to end on a Sunday, but I still got the report the sameday as the test ended. Professionalism (A): Jim was very professional. We did not do the radon test at the same time as the inspection as we wanted to make sure there were no major problems before hiring JBL. When the inspection passed, I called Jim and asked him to work with the seller's agent to arrange for entry into the house. I provided Jim with her contact information and he made all of the arrangements. This made the whole experience very easy for us.

JBL Radon Detection was suggested to us from Secure Choice Home Inspectors out of St. Charles who had performed admirably towards the inspection of our home purchase last year. We didn't have the current sellers pay for the cost of radon detection as we didn't plan to use the basement much at the time. That changed with addition of gaming equipment recently placed to the basement. Jim showed up as scheduled to set up his equipment, place warning placards to all doorways, and sketch drawings of area's checked as required by law. He was very friendly and knowledgeable to all aspects of his work with inquiry. Jim had let me know up front by initial contact by phone that based on my response his charge would be $135 'per #' of sensors he would be using which was one (1). Upon Jim's arrival in preparing his sketch of our basement he noted the crawl space extending under our living room as accessed through the basement. He let me know that he'd need to set up 'another' sensor in our living room area since this area was 'ground based', at a different level than our basement, and was required by law to be done. I was accepting of this reqirement and had thought this had just 'double' the cost as now two (2) sensors were being used. This was NOT the case and infact Jim only tacked on an additional charge of $40!! As this was a 48 hour testing requirement Jim showed back up on Sunday and collect his equipment letting us know his report would be forthcoming by 'email' soon. To my suprise the report came by email within hours of Jim's leaving and our house was determined to be at levels below what is required for mitigation work which was quite concerting. Regardless of the test results I was very pleased with Jim and the work he performs with JBL RADON DETECTION. His recommendation was well founded! Thanks to SECURE CHOICE and JBL. I do believe that Jim had said these 'test results' hold for about five (5) years or so..even though we don't plan to sell our home for anytime soon it's understood that a new buyer years down the road could ask for anoher radon test if beyond the limits of this current testing.
