Phone call was answered promptly and an appointment was set up for later that day. The plumber arrived on time and completed the job in a satisfactory manner.

They were amazingly good. They came on a Saturday and didn't charge extra. They were fast, efficient and answered their phones. I called at 5 pm on a Saturday and they were here within 20 minutes. They were very professional.

J & S Plumbing were very timely and efficient. The employees were very good. Everyone seemed to go the extra yard to deal with all of the issues I was having. I have been very pleased with the approach that they took as well as the physical work that they did for us.

The workers were very professional and did a nice job including cleanup. I was also pleased that the work was performed on the date agreed. Unfortunately an additional unrelated major problem was found involving leakage in the same sewer line leading 20 some feet to my foundation under my driveway. This required cutting an 18 foot by 3 foot by 6 feet deep channel under my driveway. For this they charged me another $3600, which I thought was a also a pretty good price for a project at least as big as the first one. In fact I paid them an extra $180.00 for quality ontime satisfactory completion. There were some difficulties in negotiating a full and fair solution, including some time for me to research acceptable and reliable backwater equipment, and consult with the village. How well a contractor performs in resolving major difficulties is especially tested in a case like this one. Although I didn't enjoy the $5780 unexpected expense, I think the contractor stretched his resources and resolved the problem to my full satisfaction. Jim Dahlquist

Great response time, less than two hours! Very professional.

The previous owner had built a shelf over the top of the tank with only enough clearance to take the cover off the tank. Consequently, the plumber had to unfasten the whole toilet.

Two men went into crawl space. Could not find source of sewer gas. Indicated they could do a "peppermint test" to find it. The company rep then called me to schedule appointment. The cost was to be $350. I consulted a handyman and he said to just run water in the sink next to the washer. Apparently, if you do not run water through the sink regularly, the water in the trap evaporates and there's a possibility of getting sewer gas. I did that and no more sewer gas!

Excellent. I called on a Saturday afternoon and was told a plumber could be there in about an hour. J&S called back shortly afterward to let me know that Dave was on his way and would be there in about 45 minutes. Dave and his helper came right on time, diagnosed the problem quickly and got it resolved by rodding out the drain line. Dave even put everything back under the bathroom sink where he accessed the drain line, and took his shoes off to not track dirt on the carpet. A terrific job; very professional all around!

We couldn't be more pleased with the level of service we received from the firm, they exceeded our expectations. We had a load of laundry on in our basement laundry room. We had been doing laundry all day with no problems and went down to put the last load in the dryer and there was water all over the place. We thought the washer had overflowed since it was soapy laundry water. Then we realized it was coming up from the floor drain and didn't know weather it was a clogged drain or if the ejector pump was broken. We called J & S Plumbing's emergency service, since it was about 7 pm on a Saturday night, and spoke with Beth. Beth told us they could have someone there in an hour and a half. Tim and his helper showed up right on time and ended up installing a new ejector pump. Tim was extremely helpful in explaining what happened and performing the work quickly and properly. We are very discriminating homeowners and are concerned about little details, and without us even asking, every time Tim and his helper came in and out of the house, they took their shoes off. In situations like this when you need a firm to respond quickly and solve your problem so you can sleep without worrying, this is the type of firm you need.

They responded quickly, were very professional, and completed the work within about 2 hours--all on a Saturday night.

Al took the call that I placed, and they were out in less than two hours to resolve our problem. The two gentlemen that came to do the work were courteous and professional and did a fine job of cleaning up after they finished the job. When I spoke to Al, he told me an estimated range of what the job would cost and the final bill was the worse case scenario that he had stated. I know I had the option of rejecting that price over the phone, but based upon the urgency of the problem I felt I had little if any choice but to accept the estimate as presented. Based on the fact that they were at my home approximately two hours, I feel that the fee was slightly higher than it could have been, that is why I gave a lower grade for the price.

Overall, the experience went well. Keith, the plumber was responsive, thorough and professional. He told me about the coupon in the yellow pages. Most importantly, J&S plumbing has the same fees whenever they do service and they are available 24/7.

In addition to doing a good job these are undoubtedly the nicest people you will ever do business with. Kevin the office manager answers the phone. Steve the plumber was neat and pleasant. He took the time to explain how the system works and what we would need to do to maintain it. It was a pleasant experience from start to finish.

This company was great from start to finish. Worked the entire morning in the rain to be ready for the code inspection at 1:00. They went above and beyond to mitigate any damage to the nearby driveway or sidewalk.

Installed new kitchen faucet. It leaked immediately after the plumbers left, indicating they did not check or knew it leaked when they left. Very nice, but seemed to be in a hurry. Called and complained and had to have two reinstalls to stop the leak.

I have had plumbers in the past that are out of sight in cost. I feel that J&S have been very reasonable. They have also come to help us at any hour. When this water line was leaking, and we called them at 7pm, and they came to fix it at 9pm. We were most impressed that they were willing to send someone in the evening and within two hours of when we called them.

Tim and Frank opened up the pump basin and yanked out the older noise maker. Once we determined the proper pump, they went back to the shop for the parts. This took a bit of time, but no big deal. Once they returned, the pump was in and we were all systems go. No real problems and I had the satisfaction that the pump was heavy duty enough for the job vs a home improvement store model. Unfortunately, 3 months later the pump switch needed to be replaced due to a rock lodging itself in the pump. Apparently the pump was pretty strong. Steve replaced the switch under warranty, gave me the rock for a souvenir and I gave him a check. Not their fault, and Steve mounted the pump up on bricks to avoid a similar problem in the future. Works like a champ.

Tim and Dave noticed right away that the gas line pipe wasn't code (flexible copper) and we had to bite the bullet for a much larger job than was expected. They were here the better part of the day running new pipe and getting the new larger heater in behind the decorative laundry room wall. I agreed to put it all back together and all was well. J & S has since been back for two other jobs and their crews are knowledgeable and willing to share what they are doing every step of the way.

Called on Thursday evening... appt. scheduled for Friday 11am. Showed up on time (actually early!) and inspected the sewer line. Showed us where it ran for our future reference. Went exactly as it should have. Forgot to give the serviceman our coupon. When I called the office, they agreed to apply the discount anyway before they charged our credit card.

Excellent. I called Monday morning and they came out Monday morning. Did the job quickly. Seemed to know what they are about.

We called and Steve gave us an estimate quickly over the phone. We accepted the estimate and they dispatched a serviceman quickly, he arrived within 2 hours. When he got there we asked him to not only rod out our kitchen sink but to replace our sump pump. He had a high quality pump in his truck and he competed the entire job.

Responded very quickly to my call. Arrived and explained that the water backup in my basement was do to a faulty sump pump. They replaced the pump and left within 1 hour.

They quoted me a flat rate over the phone then when the installer came out he said I had all kinds of extras added. The person I spoke to on the phone said no surprises. They ended up taking the original quote. I would warn other members that they will try and rip you off once they come out to do the work. I got a quote from another company for less money but they didn't have an installer in my area and that's why I had to use this company. They were about three hundred dollars more expensive.

July 13, 2007, I came home from work to find that my hot water heater was spraying water from the valve. Placed a call to one company and left a request for a callback (they finally called on 7/14/07). I called J & S at about 7;30 p.m. and a live person answered. Took my info and promised a call back. Within 15 minutes I was speaking with a rep and I gave him the information and set up an appt. for the next day.

They came right away, the same day I called them. They did a very good job. They were thorough and complete with their work and cleaned after themselves. The price they charged was reasonable, and I was happy with them.
