The technicians, Paul and Joe, were amazingly punctual, skilled and patient. They were initially dispatched to replace a leaking out door water faucet. After they completed that task I asked them to take a look at the bath tub. While replacing the overflow and drain they discovered a clamped rubber hose that had been installed by the previous owner to join some pipes. Yikes! They replaced that. Then I mentioned the absence of a trap under my kitchen sink so they repiped that which meant they also had to move the disposal to the other side. They worked well past lunch time, never took a break, and made it clear they were happy to do the work. They tidied after each job and explained the charges. Congratulations J&S on employing knowledgeable, caring technicians.

Called J&S on a Saturday afternoon for urgent issue as I had sewage backing up into my house. They were the only 24hr in the top of Angie's List in my area and were very accommodating and professional on the phone - promising to send someone out later in the day. When the gentlemen came out he was very personable and went right to work. Ran a camera down the pipe to the sewer and found standing water in the pipe. Then went up and down the street inspecting inside manhole covers to see if there was a sewer main issue. He even climbed down the sewer to inspect! When that didn't yield an answer I called the building engineer for our townhome association and he talked to the engineer for a while to try and diagnose the issue. Then went back into the house and rodded to the street -- followed by putting the camera down again. The cause of my issue is a pipe in my yard that has sunk lower than the main and now holds water in between the house and the main. It happened over time and will need a bigger job to be done of which I have to work with my association. Overall Curt did a great job -- did all the dirty work, cleaned up, put doors back on the hinges, wrote up a very detailed report on the issue and gave me his card should I need him to talk with the association engineers. And all for a reasonable price for the effort and time he spent here (over 2hrs). Then before he left he was washing his hands and noted that my hot water heater was set too high, even going to his truck to get a thermometer to test and recommend I lower it. I would use J&S again for my next plumbing needs -- no question. Super job.

We moved into an old house and had fairly severe plumbing problems. We had most of them solved, all except a persistent puddling in the basement when the upstairs toilet in the hall bath was flushed. The water would drip down the side of the furnace and on to the floor. J and S came out and initially were not successful in solving the problem, which was understandable because the toilet and hardware were from the 1960s and all of the pluming was concentrated in the same area, and it could have been any number of things. While they were initially unable to get to the root of the problem, they were persistent and determined to satisfy their customer, and came out multiple times at no charge to make sure they got things right. They went way beyond my expectations and were extremely concerned about my satisfaction as a customer. They were courteous and straightforward during each visit. I will use them again and would recommend them without hesitation.

I made an appointment for a plumber and was given a window of 10-12. I called again at 10:30 when no one showed up to see if there was an estimated time of availability. They restated that the time window was 10-12 and that I would be getting a call. When I called back at 12:00, they told me that everyone was busy and they couldn't even give me a new estimated time for service. I took the day off of work to deal with this issue, and while I set up a number of other appointments so that I could make the most use of the day, all of them revolved around the 10-12 window. When I told this to the dispatcher, he said rather sarcastically, "I am sure that you did not take the whole day off just for this appointment." That is what I call horrendous service. UPDATE: The owner called me the day after I posted the review. He apologized profusely for the service that I received and told me that he would speak to his office employees regarding the incident. He also offered to perform the work without charge at my convenience. I certainly appreciated the prompt response and his efforts to remedy the situation. I have used them in the past and am confident that the owner has addressed the situation to my satisfaction.

It went really well. The gentleman that came out was very professional. They were honest to tell me it was just unplugged instead of trying to replace the subpump.

Woke up on Sunday morning with a clogged kitchen sink. Checked Angie's List and called several plumbers. Some didn't answer. Some wanted $99 just to come out on a Sunday. J&S responded within five minutes. They were very friendly and gave me the same standard price they charge for any day of the week. Two guys showed up 30 minutes later and had the problem corrected in less than an hour. They were very clean using drop clothes and their own buckets. After they finished, they cleaned up the floor and sink. They were very professional and I would use them again....although I hope we don't have to!

The 2 employees were prompt and courteous. The replacement ejector pump was installed and they did a good job of cleaning the area surrounding the ejector pump where there was some sewage backup. We also discussed my other sump pump (at my request) and they were very helpful and knowledgeable and did not try to 'sell' me on any system, upgrade or product. My only issue is the cost - which I guess is typical for any plumbing job done by a professional. Personally, replacing a pump and being on location for an hour and a half shouldn't cost over $1000, but maybe that's the norm. I should have asked up front for an estimated cost. Also, the bill did not provide a breakdown of the cost - just a total.

When I called, I was pleasantly surprised to get a real person, not an answering machine. He was very polite and professional and made the arrangements immediately. The installers were prompt, courteous, and professional. The bill was a little high, we thought, but we were able to use our Angie's List coupon.

The work was done to my absolute complete satisfaction. The J & S employees were very professional, honest, patient in answering our questions and very considerate. I will hire them for any future work. We moved into our new home and on day one, the sewer backed up. It was diagnosed to be a shifted cast iron pipe at the foundation. We had a local plumbing company come and give an estimation. They said it would be too expensive to fix it at the place it is broken (we have extensive deck and a porch in the front of our house). They gave a proposal for re-routing the sewer pipe to the side of the house with a pricing of $10,000. This would not include permits, the extensive carpentry and landscaping work this solution required. Thats when I searched Angie's list and called J & S plumbing. Jason came in and within few minutes diagnosed the problem and told me what needs to be done. Talking to him I got the confidence that these guys know what they are doing. Brian came in to provide an estimate and gave an estimate of $3,700 including permits. We booked the work. Brian and his team were on time and got to work right away. They carefully unscrewed the deck planks. Brian masterfully maneuvered the digger to dig a 8 feet pit without touching our porch, glass door, siding. All I could say is "hats off" !. Brian coordinated everything that needed to be done. The work required the cast iron pipe to be replaced, per Village code. Matt came in to do the work from inside the house. He was very competent and cheerful and went above and beyond to answer our questions related to plumbing outside of the current work he was doing. After the pipes were all put back, Brian and team closed the pit and cleaned up everything so well, that you wouldn't recognize some work was done there! They stuck to their estimates and did not charge a penny more, which is impressive, given that this was a complex piece of work and it threw several surprises along the way. This was an extremely stressful time for us, but J & S plumbing, especially Brian, took care of us, for which we are really grateful. We came in contact with 7 different employees from J & S plumbing during this work. Each of them was very professional, courteous and took utmost care of our property.

We called and they came within an hour. The work was done professionally and cleanly. Great job, will use again.

All work was performed well and clean. The price was quoted upfront. Angies list discount was given. All the company services were explained, so that in the future if I needed any plumbing work I would know what they can do.

They worked very quickly and did a good job. I've used these guys a couple of times now and their quality is very good. I have a stubborn drain and with these guys I don't need to call a plumber as much as I used too:-)

Was able to get to my house at the beginning of the day. He replaced it quickly and stated that there were about 100 people he was servicing after me and was in a big hurry to get it over with. He didn't take away my old sump pump, because he said his van was filled with a lot of new sump pumps and he didn't have room for my old one. He told me to call to have the old one removed. The next thing he did that bothered me was not putting on the slippers over his wet shoes and walked on my wood floor with his wet shoes. I have no idea what was in the water in my basement, but I'm sure it wasn't good for wood floors. The third thing he didn't do was put the large piece of wood in front of the sump pump after he was done. I told him when he got there that was needed to protect my cats from falling in the water or drinking the water. I did that for him. I called the office a week later to have my old sump pump removed. The man who answered seemed annoyed that his service person had not taken the old sump pump away. He said someone would call to have it removed. No one called for two days so I called again. Someone happened to be in a nearby suburb and came to take it away. The second person who came was surprised it wasn't taken away, because he serviced a lot of peole the same day as the person who originally came to my house and said he removed all the old sump pumps from people's house as he replaced them. This person also put protective slippers on his feet so my floor would be protected.

They did a very good job, were punctual and very professional. However we did feel the price was on the higher end of things but they were definitley worth it.

After my husband fixed our toilet from running, the toilet began to leak water on the floor. I called J&S and talked to a very personable and knowledgeable man who quickly assessed the issue and explained the likely cause of the leak. The scheduling of a plumber to come was very flexible and accommodating. The plumber replaced the part that cracked when my husband fixed the "water running" problem with a durable, professional-quality part. The leak got fixed! We would definitely hire J&S again. They were very easy and efficient.

The pedestal sink in our bathroom was leaking from behind the pedestal and the bathtub was draining slowly. I called J&S on saturday morning around 8:00 and they sent someone over before 11:00. Everything's working fine now. Could have done a better job on cleaning up afterwards, though. Other than that we are happy with the work.

Pipe leak in basement, under drywall ceiling. Wasn't sure if it was a supply or drain pipe, I just knew it was raining in my basement. Called a few vendors immediately and J&S was able to send a guy right out. By the time they arrived I diagnosed it as the drain from the kitchen, the dishwasher was running. They quoted a price and they got to work. They said "they weren't the cheapest" and they were right. But, they were prompt, courteous, and got right to work; which is worth something. It was probably a $250-$300 job at most, but I did get a 10% Angies List discount which helped a bit, and they did respond quickly. I'd use them again in an emergency if they were able to respond right away. For other projects, I'd have them quote, but know there are more cost effective plumbers out there.

My experience with them was not really bad or not really good. They informed me about the problem even before they started. They believed they knew the problem even without looking at it. I didn’t want them to diagnose something without looking at it so I asked them to look down the drain in the sewer with a camera; this cost $200 so I wanted them to understand what they were talking about. They did do the work and realized that it was not exactly what they had informed me before. I had to pay them $200 to find out that it wasn’t exactly what they had diagnosed before. I paid them and considered it a learned experience.

I had (and still have, more on that later) a problem where my tub/shower wasn't diverting water to the shower head. It was also at this time that I found out that the main shutoff for my house didn't really shut off the water all the way. So I called J&S. They were out within a few days. I wanted them to replace my main shutoff and to fix the shower. They replaced the main shutoff but didn't have the parts to fix the shower. So they said they would try to figure out the part and get back to me. About two weeks went by and nobody returned my calls. Finally after calling 2 more times someone called me back and told me that they couldn't figure out the make/model of my shower so they couldn't figure out what part to order (and granted there are no part or model numbers or even a brand on my shower head and handle so I could see where this was difficult). So after about a month I call the original owner of my house to see if he knows what the make/model is. He tells me and I relay this info back to J&S. J&S says they'd tell their parts guy this info. I don't get any calls back. I call them back and nobody returns my call. I call again and they say the part was ordered. I still haven't heard from them. It's been about a month where they've said they've ordered the part and I've called a couple times but never get any calls back. Meanwhile the main shut off they replaced a few months back has a very slow drip. UPDATE: After posting my review to Angie's List I received a call from the owner within 24 hours. He sent a guy out to my house the next day. The issues were then resolved after all the parts came in from the manufacturer.

It went well, tech came evaluated how much pipe was needed, explained service and provided estimate. Returned to shop to get pipe and came back to install pipe. Once he had the pipe it look about 1 hour to finish service. Everything was quick from calling to having the service performed. It seemed a little pricey for such a simple job.
