It went real well. He really explained how the system works and what he was going to do. He put it in writing. I was just super pleased with the work that they did. Everyone from the whole crew was really really nice. They did a good clean up job when they finished. They were showed me different things if I want to go down there to make sure the equipment is working well and what to use. They took the catch basin out and they put a new piece in. They did a real beautiful job. Minimal damage to the grass. Everything really turned out really really well.

They were running late and called to let me know. Ivan did the repair and was meticulous and I could tell that he has a good work ethic. He did an awesome job. He kept everything clean as he went along and took the time to explain to me what he was doing. I feel that he went above and beyond and would definitely use them again.

My first floor toilet overflowed into the vent and into my basement. As a result, my second floor guest bathroom didn't work either becaue they both flow into the same pipe. It happened over Labor Day weekend. I called J & S plumbing Tuesday morning. I told them it was not an emergency but Mike arrived about 1/2 hour later. I was not charged extra for such prompt service. He fixed the problem (the pipe in the basement is not pitched and her had to clean out the pipe) and gave me advice on how to avoid the problem in the future. I had the same probelm 1 1/2 years ago and hired a different plumber. That visit cost me nearly $500. Mike did a great job and was very professional. i will definitely hire them again. The Angie's List discount was an added bonus.

Not a good experience. The plumber (Ivan) pulled up the toilet sitting on the flange improperly, saw that the flange was not aligned well, but for some reason mounted the toilet again and replaced bolts saying that was the best that could be done. On the slow-flushing toilet, he augered it, said we should just hold the handle down longer and it should be fine. Then recommended we should replace both toilets. So $400 for very marginal work on 2 toilets with a recommendation to replace them in the future, obviously at more cost. Ivan billed my wife, who was the only one present at the house. I called J&S to ask about the bill because it seems he decided to bill my wife $400 for little work (she said he was there for less than 90 minutes), and they said they would have Ivan call me back to explain the bill which didn't happen. In retrospect, it did feel like they wanted to get me off the phone. I will not use them again.

As they stated when I called they called me about 30 minutes before the plumber arrived. He arrived well within the two hour window, went right to work and within 50 minutes had the problem resolved. He was very careful and neat which I really appreciated and he had me check to be sure the problem was all resolved before he left. I gave him a check on completion and got a call from the company a few hours later, apologizing since he inadvertently overcharged me. They asked and I agreed to them sending me a check for the overcharge. Needless to say I was quite impressed and really appreciated their honesty! Next plumbing issue I will definitely call them again!

I called Sunday evening for a leaky water heater, it wasn't making hot water any more. The dispatcher had the technician come over within an hour. Turned out it's busted and I needed to replace it. The installed a new one in 3 hours as he estimated. I called a few other plumbing companies, none of them were able to come out Sunday night. I was very glad it was taken care of so promptly and professionally. Will use them again.

Keith was professional, personable, and competent, even on an extremely stormy night! Once he finished unclogging the drain he went the extra step and flushed it with some water from the water heater to make sure the drain was completely open, free flowing, and could handle a large amount of water. Response time was excellent, they were out on a Monday night within approximately an hour of our call. We will definitely use them again!

When I called to set up the appointment, I was clear that I wanted an estimate for work on two sump pumps. (I called three places to set up appointments and said the same thing to each one.) The worker arrived on time and checked out the sump pumps, but then asked if I wanted him to get to work. I told him that I had called to get an estimate. He went back to his truck and wrote up the estimate, but then informed me that I had to pay $98 for a service call (which was pre-printed on his bill). I said they must have made a mistake and was put in touch with the dispatcher. It was a different person than the person with whom I had set up the appointment. The dispatched informed me that because I had requested someone to show up first thing in the morning that they assumed it was a service call and that I had to pay $98. The worker hadn't done a thing and was at our site less than 30 minutes. I've been in automotive repair for more than 20 years and understand the importance of making it clear when an estimate is free and when it isn't. There was never a mention when I booked the appointment that there would be a charge for a service call. If they had mentioned it, I wouldn't have booked them to come out as I already had two other companies coming out to give free estimates on the work.

Mark Brown, quite outgoing and personable, performed way above-and-beyond the call of duty! I requested a visit in July to determine if the leaking kitchen faucet and sprayer could be repaired, or if I needed to purchase a new one, and if a new one, then I could purchase it when I received my pension check in August in preparation for the August replacement date. We determined a new one would be best considering the age and condition of the existing faucet. Mark had a faucet on the truck, which he held for me until the August appointment. (After the initial inspection in July, Mark was sitting on the kitchen floor preparing paper work, when he stopped to ask me if I had enough food in the house. I was DEEPLY touched by his sensitivity and concern. I did have enough.) Upon arrival in August, he spread a tarp under the sink and removed the old faucet and sprayer. He had to scrub away years of rust that had accumulated under the old faucet and sprayer. After he installed the Moen faucet and sprayer, I asked if he would attach the Brita, which was a new design that I was, therefore, not familiar with it. He installed it, and showed me step by step how to assemble and attach it. I ask him if I could pay him for doing that extra installation for me. He refused to take any payment for the extra time and work! He cleaned up EVERYTHING! Better than I would, or could, do! As he was leaving, he stopped and asked if I had a smoke detector. I did. He said it had sounded. I said it was probably just my phone, which I didn't answer while he was there. And then I heard it. He asked if I needed help with it. I told him that I just didn't know which one it was. He asked permission to sit on the staircase to listen for the chirp, but when the chirp sounded, it wasn't either of the 2 on the staircase, but from the upstairs. He asked if he had permission to listen upstairs for the chirp. He found it, brought it down, removed the batteries, and showed me how to open and close the battery box. I asked him if I could pay him for all of the extra time and work he did, not even involving plumbing. He refused any extra payment for his efforts! After he left, I looked over the paperwork from both visits, and it appears that I wasn't charged for the second visit, and the first visit was deducted from the cost of the faucet and sprayer. Workers and workmanship above-and-beyond-the-call-of-duty! Hard to find, but still does exist! Quite appreciative, but also feeling quite guilty! Sincerely, LAP

Excellent. Provided good explanations of work being done and how to prevent problem from reoccurring in future., Was neat and did a thorough much appreciated job.

Dave Boyd determined that piping to the second floor bathroom was OK and that the tile in the shower walls and floor was good. But, he found that the rubber seal in the floor drain was corroded/split/broken. Water would leak around the fitting and then downhill along the water pipes until it reached a point where it dripped onto the laundryroom ceiling.

We called at 11:45 am to explain the situation. Received a back in less than hour and notified us of an approximate time someone would be here. Mark & Chris were here with in a few minutes of the informed time. They got to work and fixed the leaking hot water supply to the bathroom sink. Mark was very knowledgable and was very patient with me with all my questions. I know I'll be needing a plumber when my husband and I remodel the bathroom. I'll will definitely be calling J&S and I'll be asking for Mark. Business card went on the fridge not in the garbage

I had no problem with their service or their rate. It was the parts they sold me. They sold me what would have been about $23 in parts if I had gone to the Store. They charged me a random $150. I argued that, it was well over $125 than what it should have been. It irritated me. I understand that if someone brings the parts. I understand doubling the price but, they had them on the truck and it was standard parts. They came out two hours after I called and they showed up at 8 AM the next morning like they said they would. When I challenged the parts cost, the guy got a little lippy with me. I asked them to have their manager contact me because, I was going to report them to Angie's List. You guys are an award winning service but, I wanted to talk to him about the cost of the parts. I was not happy with them.

Handled a miscommunication extremely effectively and to my satisfaction.

See my comments above. It went smoothly and I would definitely hire them again. I thought their price was reasonable for the time and work that they did.

My faucet was leaking came out and replaced it the same day

Mark for J&S was very knowledgeable and professional. My home was built in 1948 and had an old barrel trap that would make it difficult to snake normally. Mark was able to clear the clog through a combination of plunging and air forced evacuation. What was great was he taught me how to better clear the clog myself if the drain should start to slow down in the future. All around great experience. Would recommend to a friend.

Found this company on Angie's List after I accidentally dropped some medical vials down the toilet from an overhead storage cabinet. Made the call and explained to the lady that it wasn't an emergency but would appreciate some help whenever they could free up somebody. She possibly that night about 6 or 7 o'clock. That would have been fine with me. She called back within 25 minutes and said that she had found somebody that was free and they were on their way. Took about 20 minutes to clean out the toilet and then they checked to see if the rest of the plumbing was ok. Assured it was, I wrote the check and received my $10.00 senior discount.

The hot water piping out of the water heater started leaking. We called J & S plumbing after searching Angie's list. We were told that a plumber would be at the house in a few hours, and they showed up on time. They estimated the cost of replacement and did a good job replacing the piping. The cleanup was ok, I had to cleanup after the service was performed to remove rust residue on the basement floor. Price was a little high but I did like the quality of the work. Would definitely consider this provider in the future.

My daughter and her husband discovered a leak in the crawl space of their home and could not find the source to stop it. Their usual plumber was too busy with the recent storms, so they asked me to find someone from Angie's List for them. I gave them some choices and they called J & S Plumbing as they did not charge extra for evenings and it was 9:30 pm. They came right out and quickly diagnosed the problem, which required replacing a small pipe in the laundry drywall. My daughter called me today to tell me how pleased they were with the plumber's performance and price. They would definitely use them again if needed.

Showed up on time and worked hard and throughly to clear the drain and snake it electrically for about 20 minutes and then ran water for another 15 minutes. Coimmunicated well an cleaned up very well afterwards as well.

the charge for the last work said I over paid and gave it back to me

Turned out to be a very simple and quick fix. Just a leaking hose on the kitchen faucet.Aside from fixing the problem, we were impressed with the speed of the service. the call back was within 10 minutes and they arrived 30 minutes later!

This is the short version: For six days, J&S worked many (uncompensated) hours to get our new water heater to work. They were never grudging, always cheerful and very responsive. They even took the problem to corporate. Top recommendation.

I had a leaking hot water heater and called up & was told that someone could come over and look at it in a couple hours. Shortly thereafter someone called back and said a plumber was freed up and could come over sooner. Ivan came over within the quoted timeframe and took a look at it and eventually recommended replacing the existing water heater. Agreed with his assessment and he went ahead and replaced the water heater with one he had brought with him. He was cordial, professional & cleaned up everything after he was finished. He also was able remove an old water softener from the previous homeowner as well. Overall, everything went fine.
