Dan did a really great job explaining the problems in my basement, how they were caused and how to fix them, giving me several options. He was able to provide me with a quote immediately. In addition, before he even came out, Woods sent an information packet that was really helpful in explaining typical problem areas, their solutions, and Woods' products.
Description of Work: Dan came out and gave an estimate.

OMG, you can see by my above statement how completely satisfied I am with the price, the service, and the warranty! Would recommend Woods Basement to anybody I know who has a problem or a crack in their basement. Thank you for your prompt service, professionalism, price, and especially "warranty". Sincerely, Cindi
Description of Work: These guys drilled and filed- down the junk that the previous owner tried to patch and fill into the gigantic crack we had in our basement. Didn't notice any problem til we'd been here for over 10 yrs. Then that crack would flood our basement/laundry area with every heavy rain. These guys patched it with their patented product and finished within 1 hour today. I'm most impressed with their warranty ... life of the house ... the warranty passes to the next owner, should we decide to sell, and then on and on. We initially thought we would have $6,000 to $12,000 to fix this; but these guys took care of it with $1,000 in 1 hour. I would TOTALLY recommend Woods Basement Systems. Thanks for letting me share this, Cindi

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your basement problem. You noted that our specialist was “knowledgeable, friendly, and professional”—a standard of excellence to which we hold every team member. However, we noticed that you rated our level of professionalism as a "C"—a rating that seems inconsistent with the rest of your review. Rather than consider this a typo, we'd love to find out more about your experience and help you solve your basement problem.

We're wanted to do some waterproofing before finishing our basement. We called Woods for an estimate and waited a month for an appointment with one of their folks. He arrived on time, was friendly and polite, and told us he'd have a quote for us in a few days. Two weeks later, I still hadn't heard from him. I called Woods and was told someone would be in touch with me by the end of the day. Didn't hear from anyone. Called again a few days later -- same thing. And again a few days after that -- same thing. And again a few days after that. We've never heard back from Woods despite their having our home phone, my cell phone, and my email. Really, it's bizarre. What kind of company takes the time to send someone out to give an estimate, then won't get back in touch with that estimate? Incredibly unprofessional, and a complete waste of our time and theirs. Needless to say, we've given up waiting and are going with a different company. Even if Woods ever came up with an estimate, I can only imagine how long it would take to get the work done...
Description of Work: We asked for a quote for basement waterproofing, installing a perimeter drain and sump pump. We waited a month for an appointment and were told we'd be contacted to receive a quote within a few days after that. Four weeks later, four phone calls later, we're still waiting...

Over the past 27 years, our customers have told us that they are thankful for the process we have in place when it comes to all the decisions involved with a finished basement project. We regret that we could not reschedule a return visit to review your options when your husband was available and for the inconvenience this delay may have caused. Your design specialist is emailing your proposal for you both to review, and if you have any questions please call your specialist. Thank you.

I should mention that I live in Ohio and I was only in the metro St. Louis area for a few days to faciliate the repair. The sales person had promised to update me the following week about when the repairs would commence, but I did not hear from him as promised. I left a voicemail and an email, and also did not hear back. I then called the main office and found out the repair was scheduled to commence AFTER my house sale, and I was quite panicked. The office staff were calm, professional and handled my problem RIGHT AWAY. The repair was rescheduled and came off as promised. I regretfully do not remember the lady who did the scheduling, but she was amazing. Later, when I was arranging payment with Suzanne Woods in their accounting department, I was also happily surprised with the professionalism, friendliness and concern she showed. I am a little concerned about the work since I was not there to see it, but after speaking with the office staff I feel like if there is an issue that they will stand behind their work. I have worked with many contractors over the year at home and in my profession, and I have never had such a wonderful experience with the support staff. Ever.
Description of Work: I was looking to repair a water leak on my house (that was up for sale and under contract). I had a limited window within which this had to be done. The sales person was very professional on the phone and in person, and gave me detailed information (including mailing be a detailed BOOK on the company and the proposed repair). I was quite clear about the lead time and completion date that I needed in order for my home sale to go through. We met a second time when I accepted the contract and I gave them a down payment. They installed trench drain along the basement wall to funnel the water to the drain in the basement. It included their WaterGuard system and port.

The project began as a simple floor replacement, but as the old floor was removed, there was evidence of water dating back over many years in our 42-year-old house. It was determined that hydrostatic pressure was the cause for the slow seepage and a solution was urgently needed. Within 2 days of contacting Woods Basement Systems, a representative came out to the house and evaluated our basement. Our fears were confirmed when more evidence of water was found, and confirmed to be due to age and hydrostatic pressure on the basement walls. Woods took 90 minutes to review the options with us, highlighting the benefits and drawbacks of each solution. At the start, we expected the total bill for the waterproofing would range in the $10-12K range. After asking the agent to step outside for a few moments, we consulted and decided on the solution. During the visit we ordered the WaterGuard and Triple Safe Sump solutions. We received a discount of 10% for signing on the spot, which convinced us to proceed without delay. Total cost for the work only came to $5,100, and we were able to get 12 months same as cash, so we will pay for this interest-free in 2013. Due to demand, the work had been scheduled for the end of March, but we asked for an earlier date if any became available, and to our luck March 7th came-up. The entire job was done in 1 day! We already have heard the sump running after a rain, so the system is doing it's job from the first day. Thanks to the quality job by Woods Basement Systems, we can now confidently proceed with our finishing project.
Description of Work: Woods Basement Systems installed two major basement waterproofing solutions. First the WaterGuard in the basement on the south and western walls (approximately 70 linear feet), in addition to the TripleSafe Sump System with the battery back-up. The sump also required a backyard ejection drain which was placed in the center of the backyard lawn for effective drainage. Plus, the ice preventer was included the ensure the pumped water will stay outside even in below freezing winter seasons.

It took several days and three different crews to do all the work but everyone who came was polite, introduced themselves, and worked hard throughout the day. My dogs thought everyone who came was wonderful. And one of them was even nice enough to remove a dead bird from the fireplace so I wouldn't have to touch it! They kept me informed of their progress and any problems with the structure of our home or installation. One of the problems that Mike and his crew found was that our wood burning fire place had been installed over the top of the drywall and wood paneling when our home was built. They were able to save the brick fireplace but they could not put the insulating panels in the space above the mantel. After everything was finished I had a few questions and one of the managers came out to check for me. There were some gaps between the flooring tiles and the walls. I also wanted to know if there was anything they could do to fix the space above the fireplace. And we needed to have a few insulating panels put in our laundry room. It turns out that they don't put the floorboards back after they install the floor. They also couldn't do anything about the space above the fireplace. So I needed to hire a carpenter to fix those things. On the other hand they installed some drywall in a space that was not part of their project. Overall, I would hire them again.
Description of Work: Wood's Basement installed a waterproofing system, sump pump, drains, insulation and new floor. They removed the carpet that had been glued to the floor and the old wood paneling.

The technician who came to my home was very thorough and professional. Since I live in a condo, he had to explain his finding to the representative of the homeowners' association as well as to me. With the approval of the board, the work was scheduled for the following day, a weekend, and completed that day. There was a follow-up visit scheduled for the following week and for a couple of months down the road. I highly recommend Woods Basement Systems.
Description of Work: Woods Basement System had previously installed a waterproofing system in the condo that I own. When I experienced some issues with water, I called them. They immediately sent a technician to my home to assess the situation and make a recommendation.

Responded to our online request for an estimate with a call the next day, came out to see damage and give an estimate the next business day. Damage was described in detail as well as the recommended fix. Everyone was polite and really knew their product and their basements! Even when I called in with what I thought was a problem, they had someone out the next day and redid the spot without any hesitation even though they explained that what I thought was a problem wasn't really an issue. I am currently having them come back to finish waterproofing our basement. The drought damaged so much and they are a great company and I love how they explain things so even I can understand what is needed and how it will fix the problem.

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate hearing from you. Please note that at different times of the year depending on the volume of calls due to weather conditions our response time to getting to a home for the first inspection may be a little longer than in this case. Many people have told us, it was worth the wait! Thank you for trusting us with your business and home.

I would never recommend them to anybody. The project took four months of multiple visits out here until they finally did it right. They were very unprofessional and the people that they sent out here were terrible. They were smoking and throwing cigarette buds in our yard. They told us that the work was done right, but my husband had to finish the rest of our basement. Probably the only reason that the system is working is because my husband dug a trench around our entire house and put a French drain in and redirected all the water. Otherwise, I believe that it would still be leaking and I don't think their system is worth a dime. They presented a perfect little picture of how everything would look, but they dug up our whole ground and left all the dirt. We had to call them several times to come and pick up what they left and it was not like the pretty little picture that they presented in their presentation at all.

The man that came to look at the f oundation walk round the entire basement and on the outside of the foundation documenting any cracks that were found. He told us that we had a settling issue besides the crack that was leaking. He had a movie that showed exactly what would be involved with the installation of eight push piers and a flex crack repair. An estimate was given and we signed a contract. We had to move everything away from the walls for at least ten feet, to give the men room to work with. They arrived on time and put down tarps to protect the floors. They also put dust barriers in the basements. We had very little in the rest of the house. The noise from breaking out the concrete and digging to install the push piers. The noise from the jack hammering was awful.. I moved my mother and dog out. while the work was going on. The work was completed on time. The workmen even had me inspect the finished work and grade them on it. They really cleaned up the mess from the job. however the flexi crack repair looked very amateurish . I called and about that and never heard back from them.
Description of Work: We had 8 push piers installed in the basement and a flexi span crack fix. The workmen were very efficient and the work was completed on time. Every effort was made to contain the mess and the dust. Were we not very happy with the the way the flexi span crack repair looks, as it looks like an half done job. but the crack is no longer leaking.

We contacted Woods to give us an estimate on our basement remodeling job. The job consisted of demolishing the existing walls and ceilings, installing an egress window and rebuilding a bedroom, 2 baths, theater room, kitchen and living area. The person who came out to review our job was only experienced in waterproofing and really couldn't address any other items that needed to be in our scope. Although knowledgeable about water proofing (which, by the way, we didn't need), he wanted to bring another person at Woods in to meet with us at another time to go over all the items in our scope. Our job was a very fast track one. We didn't have the time to devote to all these meetings with different people at Woods and the time it would have taken to ultimately get a bid from them. We, therefore, did not decide to go with Woods for our job.

I called Woods and they promptly set appt. for service at time convenient for me to be home. Dave arrived on time and completed repair work quickly with little mess. I had pulled back the carpeting from the area, and Dave removed the wainscoting to expose the leak area in the concrete. He also had to work around the wall framing to reach leak area and did so very efficiently. Work was covered by warranty from earlier repair. Dave was very courteous and completed work in a very timely manner.
Description of Work: Due to storm and this summer's drought affect on clay soil, I noticed leak in same area where previous repair was done by Woods over 5 years ago. When Dave arrived, he determined the leak was from same area as previous repair work, and told me that this repair was covered by Woods warranty. Leak was in finshed area of basement and Dave had to removed area of wall and carpeting to get to the leak. He completed the repair work, and we had to leave it exposed to completely dry. Dave worked efficiently and was very knowledgeable about the product and service.

Made an appointment to meet a representative to receive an estimate for the work at 6pm on a Monday. I was provided the name of the person who would provide the estimate and was later sent a packet with a bio for the person, Rich Obermeier, and a booklet on the different waterproofing services they provided (from footing and exterior repair to sump pumps to crack repair). The Thursday prior to the appointment, I received a message that they would like to confirm the appointment and asking me to call their call center. I returned the call, spoke to a person (did not need to leave a message), and confirmed the appointment for the following Monday. After being out of contact for the weekend (no email and limited cell phone access), I checked my email at about 5pm on the Monday of the appointment. I found an email from 7:35am on Saturday asking me to again call and confirm the appointment and stating that they would try to reach me by phone. I had no voice mails on either my cell phone or on the home phone the entire weekend. Rich Obermeier never showed up and never called for his appointment! I waited 30 minutes, giving him the benefit of the doubt before posting this review. I'll never use this company that had borderline harrassment to confirm the appointment and then never hear anything on the date of the appointment.

The equipment they put in was excellent. They had to come back out because they forgot one aspect of the job and they promptly sent somebody else over who was working in the area to get it done like it should have been done. They did resolve the one thing that was not quite right. They were pretty booked up and we couldn't get them to do the thing for several weeks. They were on time when they came.

The salesmen who came in to do both of my estimates were knowledgeable and clearly explained the problem and their proposed solution. Jobs are priced at a flat rate, and they show you the rate card, so you know you are getting their best price. The radon specialist offered me a 10% repeat customer discount. Both salesman took the time to answer all my questions and were not pushy. When scheduling the work on the basement, there were a couple of weeks of lead time, because recent rains had apparently kept the company quite busy. When they came out to do the work, they were on time, quick, courteous and professional. They took care to minimize their mess and clean up afterwards. When they left, they didn't offer up much of a report of their work; we had to ask how things went and what they found.
Description of Work: Had them in to inspect my basement to find source of occasional leaks. They suggested I have a wall crack cleaned out and sealed via their special process. This task included jackhammering up a small section of floor to make sure the crack was sealed below the floor. They came and did the work in about two hours. I also had a radon specialist come out to give an estimate on remediation.

They are located actually in Collinsville but they came out to Champaign to do the work. They did an excellent job. We had some problems about a year later so they came out and corrected it. When they came to give us an estimate, the materials were very clear and they told us what the price would be. They didn't pressurize at all. When we were ready to have it done they did what they said they would do and followed up as I said because we had problems. I think one of the sump pumps wasn't working so they came back and fixed it.

The work was done to an unusually high standard and as described by the estimator. Surprises, inevitable in an old house, were resolved quickly and skillfully. The crew members were nice guys, easy to talk to. Highly recommended - I would certainly hire them again.
Description of Work: One foundation wall was bowing from soil pressure. We also had six unwanted window openings (some covered by siding), an old coal chute, and a door which we wanted blocked up increase security and decrease air infiltration. Woods' estimator did an excellent job of diagnosing the problems and making recommendations. For the wall bowing, we decided to install six foundation wall anchors. The openings were to be cleared out and filled with concrete block.

We have used this company before for foundation crack repairs at a prior home and we think they have a great solution for this type of repair. The crack repairs at our new home went great and we are confident that we will no longer have water leak concerns at those locations. They also did a great job with the sump pump that they installed. We were very impressed with the underground piping system that they installed to carry the sump pump water and nearby downspout water away from our house. Looks nice considering what it is! Not cheap looking at all. Dollar cost was a bit higher than other bids we received, but we think we got a greater value for our money. Very profesional job overall.
