I would consider calling them only if cost were not an issue and I had unlimited bags of money... After waiting for over two weeks for the appointment at the finished basement home. I contacted the tenant to find out what the proposal was (I was out of state). They said the tech. was in there for about 10 minutes with a notepad and talked about ripping walls and studs and sump pumps, etc. But he left no proposal (contrary to their "Proposal at time of appointment" guarantee). I called the office and they sounded surprised that no proposal was left and assured me they would e-mail me one. A few days later, I called back and the tech was at a function and promised he would have it to me the next day. Four days later, I get a ridiculouse quote for well over $6000. I asked if they could break that down to parts, labor, etc. They said "No". I asked if the job could be done with fewer "bells and whistles", they said "we'll see what we can do and get back to you".....never got back to me. With the crawl space home, I met the tech. and this proposal was for about $19,000.00. But he wouldn't give it to me in writing because then I would "lose my 10% discount". He assured me he would e-mail it to me the next day....never got back to me. I have no doubt that Woods Basement Sys. is all about sell, sell, sell...whether you need it or not is beside the point. If your solution calls for a 5-passenger sedan, they will try to sell you the 45-passenger bus....hopefully you'll bite!
Description of Work: I had them take a look at two properties after some torrential rains, one with a finished basement that leaked significantly and one crawl space that seems to have let a little water in.

Very polite and professional, but wanted to hear from other contractors. I got two more quotes and after my 3rd contractor told me we had no hydrostatic pressure and no crack in the wall (he actually cut out a piece of the dry wall to inspect the area), we installed our own French drain. This did the trick. We have had several additional heavy rains since and so far, so good - no seepage and total cost to us of $140!
Description of Work: I had seepage in my basement after the ton of rain we got in April. Had Woods come out to take a look and after extensive background of what they can do and what I would most likely need, got a very high quote of over $9000. I asked how that could be modified. Original work was to include digging a trench the entire perimeter of my basement (inside), installing a sump pump w/backup battery, an outside trench to the street and winterized ice protector things (sorry, forget the technical terms). Modified to just trenching the half where we knew water was getting in, doing all wall removal ourselves and doing away with the back up battery. That did decrease the original quote, but still too expensive for me.

Our basement still has the exact same problem. The Main and perhaps only problem is from an outside drain flooding water under the door which we told them about. Much to our surprise after it rained we discovered that section of the perimeter wasn't included in the drainage system due to the door being in the way. This should have been addressed beforehand. They sent out a tech who at first told us they could put in a ditch to tie it in to the drain and it should be covered by the warranty. Then he made a flashy phone call agreeing with someone on the perfect solution, a $2500 outside pump. We opted for the ditch if it was covered. After making a shady private phone call in his work van he told us it was not covered and would be $350. We said the issue should have been addressed prior to the install since we told them about it. His response, "I don't know what you told them. I wasn't there". I feel let down and taken advantage of by the "basement experts" because at this point we spent almost 10k on a system that it turns out we didn't need. And they don't even have the common courtesy to fix the main problem because it's not covered in the warranty for the drainage system since it's coming from outside...because they didn't fix the problem from inside! Now my once warm basement is quite cold and we have a useless ugly system. I feel sick when I think of the money lost. I also don't like the shabby tore up look around my hot water heater or the cracks in the new cement.
Description of Work: We have water in the basement following heavy rains. There is significant puddling in a few different areas and water coming in below the door. We described the issue in great detail and were assured we would have a dry basement after drainage system was installed along the entire indoor perimeter of the basement along with a top of the line sump pump.

Jake came out and looked at issue. He spent the time to explain what was going on and potential resolutions. Very friendly and informative. Great company and person to deal with.
Their schedule was booked a few weeks out, but they came the day and time that they said they would, and they worked until the job got done. My family was eating dinner, while some of the guys were still working (even in the dark). The foreman was nice and did a good job, and the other guys working with him were very helpful and polite. They gave me some tips and were very professional.
Description of Work: They waterproofed half of my basement. When going through all of the options with the inspector/salesman, I decided doing my entire perimeter was too expensive, and he told me doing only the problem side for now would be OK. They created a trench around the perimeter, installed their drainage stuff (technical terms, I know!), installed a sump pump and a back up, put a drainage pipe about 15 feet out into my yard, put a freeze guard on it, and they even tied my downspout into it all.

The technician, Matthew Hodges, was extremely thorough with his inspection of our foundation and reassured us that our house was NOT falling. He stated the cracking was due to the dry weather conditions and that over the years the soil had pulled away from the foundation which created the cracks. He stated it is a common occurrence with basements. He was very honest and told us that we did not require any repair work of any kind! We so appreciated his honesty.
Description of Work: We called Woods Basement Systems to inspect two large cracks in our foundation. The crack also appeared to be affecting our living room wall. We thought we would need to have mudjacking or support piers added to stabilize our falling home.

I was happy with the work that was done. They worked really hard and also did their best to keep a very messy job as clean as possible.
Description of Work: Basement waterproofing with sump pump.
Work was adequate, dealing with the front office was and continues to be extremely difficult. Woods included running a drain pipe from the basement to the curb as a part of the waterproofing solution. Original quote included the work for tearing up the city sidewalk, running the drainage pipe, and replacing all cement work. All cement work was done by someone else and Woods avoided all related work, yet did not adjust the price for the change in work. All cement work was done by Laclede who happened to be doing repair work in the area and timing worked out that Woods avoided all cement work. I have requested Woods to reduce final cost of the price with whatever the cost of the cement work would have been. They have refused to address this request directly and will not offer any reasonably alternatives to this point.

Juan's team (Juan, John, Danial) did a fantastic job with the basement waterproofing. Juan was able to solve any problems encountered with a 1949 house. The basement floor had ceramic tile, and Juan was able to make a clean cut at the seams of the tile. A jack hammer master! The crawlspace work was begun by Juan's team, and completed by Greg and Connor. The rooms above the crawlspace are now the same temperature as the rest of the house! And we have a dry basement. Cleanup was also good.

The service rep was very nice and did a good job checking the system, but kept trying to sell us add ons (back up battery for a second pump and a dehumidifier). We have a back up battery on one of the sump pumps and don't need one on the second sump pump. We don't need a dehumidifier, the basement humidity level was only 35%. Seemed like he was trained to look for any potential sales but we just wanted an annual service checkup on the system we installed last year. So other than the sales pitch we are fine with the service from Woods.

When we called to get an estimate for cracked and bowing foundation walls and waterproofing, an appointment for a salesperson was made in 3 months. We were not terribly happy with the wait, but were pleased with the estimate for waterproofing. The estimate for the foundation repair was much higher than competitors so we did not have them complete foundation repair. The waterproofing was completed quickly and they offer a lifetime warranty on the waterproofing. The installation team was courteous, professional, and completed the work quickly. They answered all of our questions and cleaned up before they left. They were very helpful. I would highly recommend their waterproofing.

Pros: They did the work well, and the workers who come to the house seem to care a lot about the quality of product and service. They recommended a Sani-Dry basement dehumidifier, and it has worked amazingly to keep the humidity and smells down. They worked with us when the city asked us to move the sump discharge. Cons: Office communication is HORRIBLE. Every. Last. Time. that someone told us they would communicate pertinent info to someone else in the office, it fell through the cracks. That old telephone game you used to play in grade school, where something is quietly repeated around the circle and you see how much it changed on the way...with Woods the message simply wouldn't get around the circle. Also it's common for one worker to give us certain info about our basement situation, only for another worker to tell us that the first worker shouldn't have said what they did. Oh, and the first worker doesn't work here anymore. Just make sure you really need a sump system. I wish I had fixed my gutters and downspouts, and landscaped around my house a little first, to see if that alleviated the problem. We also had an unrelated broken pipe under the foundation that was creating smells which, had we taken care of first, would have made us less inclined to get a sump system. I'm not blaming this part on Woods, but anytime you're in low-lying areas, with lots of runoff water, and holes being cut in your foundation...things are just going to start happening that you didn't expect. So be ready for that.

They were punctual every day. The crew worked efficiently and got the job done in a little over 2 days. The job foreman called me before they started and kept me apprised each day what had been done. My electrician who came to install the electric outlets was very impressed with quality of work. He also thought they were totally professional. They were good about showing him where the equipment was being installed and where the outlets needed to be. I totally recomend them. It is not cheap, but with all of this water we have had in the past 2 weeks, I have been completely dry.

Overall, the service was very good from the start to completion. The sales/technician team assessed our problems and made recommendations to better keep water out of our crawl space. They offered us excellent financing options and what seems to us a good price for all the work we received. The office team checked in with us to verify installation and the foreman (Juan) and his crew member (James) arrived on time. They were both polite and courteous during the entire experience. They did a very good job installing the systems and cleaning up afterward. We are happy with Woods.

I had heard such great things about Woods Basements so when we had water in our finished basement we immediately called them for a bid. We felt like they only offered one solution and sold that solution and then recommended we do something different. The sales pitch took over an hour which is hard for someone who has kids. Overall the experience was cumbersome and I felt like I was not getting individualized service.

I had had a new sump pump installed by them the year before and they had suggested I have this done. After all this heavy rain all summer, I am so glad that it had this work done. We have had major work done by Woods several times before in our old home, and have always been very pleased with the work.

Left a large hole in the backyard and didn't clean up after themselves. Took pictures of dirty windows and sent to owner but he never responded. Work was good but I was disappointed that they didn't take care to clean up or complete the job. I actually had to walk around and follow them around to ensure that cleaned the windows. They did do a very good job on the inside. The office staff was very rude.

they did this work a year ago, despite the continuous rain we've had this summer our basement remained dry. One storm was so severe that our back yard flooded and actually moved rock 10-15 feet. A tree lost leaves and clogged the roof gutter pouring water onto the foundation. Still our basement remained dry. I am quite impressed and think they did an amazing job. I waited to write this review because I was dubious that they could actually water proof our basement. I would recommend them highly. They are expensive but worth it.
