Am writing this now because they have called again trying to sell me more servicing when they have been asked three times not to call back and to put me on their do not call list. Their project was a comedy of errors from start to finish. Drain line initially installed going up hill (water doesn"t run up hill),unprofessional work crew, tracked mud through the house and didn't clean up adequately, installed brite panels on basement wall which took three more visits to correct problems of torn panels and extremely poor fit. What should have been a two day job ended up taking 5 days which cost me several vacation days to be there when they worked. Their system does work in terms of keeping the basement dry, but unless they have different crews working I would never recommend them. If they continue to call they will be reported to the Attorney General as a do not call violation
Description of Work: Installed basement waterproofing, sump pump and brite wall panels.

They seemed to have answers for all my problems. The basement was leaking. The window well needed checks. The wall needed to be replaced. They were able to do all those things as opposed to just one of those things and have them sub-contract that out to some of the other ones. The pricing seemed reasonable. They didn't do so well on responsiveness. One of the things I wanted was a grating put on my window well and we had some difficulties coming up with a way of doing that. When we had it figured out, the owner got paid on everything else that he had done. This was the last thing that I wanted to have done. He never got back to me on that. I think he just thought it was too difficult or he was having someone else do it and decided that he needn't be bothered with it. He never got back to me on that so I had someone else do it. His punctuality could have been better. I mentioned to the owner that I did not go in to work until they got here. There were a couple of times when they did not call me and tell me that they weren't coming. They were pretty good on professionalism. I would probably have to question about using them again simply because they didn't get back to me on the window grates. They just let that fall to the wayside. When they came we had some problems with the way the baseboard wasn't done to my satisfaction. They always came back and they always fixed the place where the concern was. On that regard they did very good.

The team arrived at 6:30 am and the work was completed by 1:30 pm the same day. When the team arrived, they laid down plastic on our driveway before pulling their truck onto it. Before starting the jack hammering, they put up plastic tarps around the work area so the dust stayed where they were working. Then they covered the entrance to the house with plastic. As two men jack hammered the trench, another man carried the busted concrete out of the basement in buckets. They worked steadily with no breaks. The gravel for the trench was also carried into the house in buckets. The piping was then covered with cement and the pump was installed. A hole was drilled in the foundation to pump the water outside into our sewer. Then they did a terrific clean up! I didn't need to do any cleaning of the basement after they left. The foreman showed me how the pump worked and explained a service agreement available. It was a pleasant experience. The only negative I have about the experience was getting the work started. It took 1 month after my phone call for someone to come out and give me a bid, and then the work was not started for another month. This might have been due to our rainy weather. They may have been swamped with work, but I was not informed of this.
Description of Work: A trench was dug around 1 1/2 walls of the basement of our 2800 sq. ft. ranch home. A Sump Pump and the necessary materials were installed to solve our water problem.

The salesman was very nice and professional, and he said almost exactly the same things as the other 4 companies that bid on the job for us had said. He said he would get the estimate ready and email it to me the next day and then drop a hard copy in the mail with the details. The next afternoon, he DID send me an email, thanking me for my time and saying the bid was attached....but he forgot to attach the bid. I emailed him back and asked him to please re-send it to me with the bid attached this time. No response. Three days later I emailed him again, again with no response at all. I waited another week (no response), then I finally called the company and asked if someone could please send me my bid. Five more days passed and someone else from the company finally emailed me the bid. This is a total of about 10 weeks after I had first called for an appointment. The bid was priced just slightly higher than other bids we had gotten (roughly $8,000), but it was still within a fair range to me. Since the email was just the dollar amount, I looked forward to getting the hard copy of the bid in the mail, which would explain the details of the job. And I waited, and I waited......it finally arrived in the mail another THREE WEEKS after the emailed bid.....and it arrived with .66 cents POSTAGE DUE! I do understand that the spring of 2011 was exceptionally wet and many basements flooded and most waterproofing companies were very busy. But while Wood's came highly recommended, I will not do business with a company that is so severely backlogged that it takes weeks to get a person out to inspect for a bid, and then several more weeks for an actual bid. Not to mention the fact that they could not even take the time to affix proper postage on a bid. If a company is booked weeks/months in advance they must be bidding on an awful lot of jobs...and should certainly know how much postage to put on an envelope! Just seemed like bad business practices or overworked employees, and when I hire someone to work on my home and expect to pay them many thousands of dollars to repair my home - I do not want a company with those kind of standards.
Description of Work: Our basement started leaking water this spring and based on Angie's list and several people's recommendations we called Wood's. They are SO busy that they could not even come out to look at our basement to give a bid on the job for SEVEN WEEKS. We made the appointment and waited almost two months for it, getting bids from other companies while we waited. In the meantime, Woods sent some literature about basement waterproofing and different methods they use. I liked what I read and looked forward to talking to them.

They were fine and I would rate them very good. They were pricey, but they were very efficient and they got the job done. I spent close to $11,000 on that job. I liked them because they did a good job; they worked hard and came when they said they were going to. So far everything is holding up. They also did a good job of not messing up my lawn too much and they explained what they were doing.

We called Woods to schedule a meeting with a salesman for an estimate. The salesman arrived on time for the estimation appointment, and we agreed on a price and services. The workers arrived on time for the scheduled service and were courteous, clean, and professional. Everything was initially completed to our satisfaction. However, 2 years later a sink hole formed in our yard near the out port of the sump pump drain. The drain had cracked, and we surmised that the crack was the cause of the sink hole. We called Woods to have them investigate. Their worker initially denied that Woods had any responsibility for the sink hole, and that the sink hole was probably unrelated to the drainage system. After I pressed him for 30 minutes to explain the cracked drain, he called his supervisor, and I heard him on the phone explain how he thought the drainage system was faultily installed and with the wrong parts. After speaking with the supervisor directly, he admitted that Woods was at fault, and he agreed to fix the sink hole and replace the drain out port at no cost. Again, the workers arrived on time for the scheduled service and were courteous, clean, and professional. The repairs were completed to out satisfaction.
Description of Work: A sump pit was dug and a gravel trench was dug around the perimeter of the basement, which drained into the newly dug sump pit. A sump pump with a triple-redundant power supply was installed, as was an external drainage system to move water away from the house.

Their estimate was high in comparison to the other one?s I had done. The person who came was very personable and nice. He was very thorough on explain what they were planning to do, how they would do, and how it would help. They would have been a very high contender if the price was fine. I would consider using them in the future.

Their work was great. I had a slight issue with them initially with their customer service. I called them and they gave me confirmation call telling that they are coming and they did not come. When I complained about this to them, they knocked down the price for me. They had three of four guys who came in and did the work. When they showed up, they were very polite and very cognitive about the house. They did not come in with their boots on. It was a little dusty afterwards, but they cleaned up pretty well. I was pleased with them. Their price was little expensive when they initially quoted me, but when I had a service issue, they decreased the price and I think it was worth it. I would use their service in the future too.

Far from cheapest, but no one had a comparable system and performance has been outstanding. Not sure battery backup was needed ($900 of the cost), but after an expensive flood was willing to go the extra mile. Wish we had used them in the new construction done two years prior.

I requested a rep (twice) to come to my home prior to my decision to use their services. Each time a rep came to my home and answered my questions. The rep was polite, professional and answered all my questions. The company has excellent customer service and follow-up (prior to the job, as well as completion). I received a price for the job (and the company rep even presented me with a discount coupon to use that was online that I did not know about). The job was sceduled and the crew showed up exactly on time. The gentlemen that did the work were polite, professional and worked throughout the entire project. They prepped the area (covering items from dust, debri). They throughly vacuumed and swept after completion, and cleaned up all debri. The foreman answered all my questions and showed me how the sump pump worked. I thought the entire project went well (and was professionally completed) from beginning to end. I would highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: The company installed a sump pump in my basement (partially finished). Sections of concrete floor had to be removed to install the drain tiles and the sump pump. Outside drain pipes were installed for the water to be discharged.

Woods Basement Systems Inc. Company did excellent work. It was annual inspection and everything was fine; it didn?t need any additional work. I had really bad water problems in the basement. The building was built in 1888 and it has a stone basement and so when it rains, water comes straight into the stones. So, I had initially hired Woods Basement Systems Inc. Company to do water proofing in the basement. They dug out an edge around the stone and the concrete in the basement. They installed an entire electronic track system along with a backup sump pump. So that when the water comes in, it automatically gets pumped out instead of flooding the basement. Woods Basement Systems Inc. Company was really good. They were responsive and pretty punctual. They were expensive; however, I got what I paid for. I have never had water problem since they did water proofing, so it was worth the price I paid. I will continue using them in the future for inspections and follow ups.

It was between them and another company and I used the other company. The salesman was very good and everything went well. It was a competitive deal and I told them that they didn't match up. I had some questions and the quote manager called and made me less comfortable with them than I had been. The solution between the two companies was different. I thought they would create some stress points for it to crack because of the narrowness of the piers. That concerned me and the other company had a better solution. It was cheaper of top of it. It frankly became a no-brainer. I had several out and some were just yahoos and didn't have a clue. Some tried to lowball me. Woods did a good job but I decided their solution wasn't as good and their bid wasn't as good. They had the next best bid. I felt their manager didn't have time to talk to me. He called me on his cell phone while he was driving in traffic and it sounded like the window was down. I don't know if he was a doofus, or didn't have time or didn't pay attention to what he was doing. He didn't inspire any confidence. Randy was the salesman and he did a fine job. He did get desperate when it looked like I wasn't going to hire him. It took me 3 months to decide whom I was going to use. I didn?t feel they had the right solution for the problem.

It went well. They were quick and efficient.
Description of Work: They dug a trench around each basement wall, put in a sump pump system and concreted that over to keep it sealed. Cleaned up everything... it has been working. I have some dampness still, in the front, on very heavy rain days, but not the wet and puddles I had before. It's an old house with thinner concrete floors than is code today, so I keep a large dehumidifier downstairs to take out any dampness. I'm not sure any company can guarantee total water-free basements in all houses and house types, but this one comes as close as they can get. I'm pleased.

We contacted Woods Basement Systems regarding foundation settlement problems with or home. Randy Pantano came out to the house surveyed the conditions and provided a written estimate a few days later to install 12 piers. Tim was very courteous and informative about his products and the problems we were having. He responded to all our questions in a timely manner. In the end we chose a different contractor because we felt their system was better suited to our site conditions. Given another project I would consider Woods Basement Systems to quote the work.
