We have been refilling the freon in our condo unit every summer for the last 10 years. We have used about 3 different companies prior to Abbey and got no long term solutions - only short term fixes with refilling the freon and the other option was to replace the whole unit for over $4000. Marcos was on time, professional, friendly, and most of all, THOROUGH. He checked the pressure, replaced the filter, and finally, found the leak! We live on the first floor of a four floor condo building and it turns out, the leak was on the rooftop - not even between units as the other companies were assuming. Marcos took apart the unit, checked the coils, the pressure - everything the other companies didn't even bother to check. He estimated about 3 hours worth of work but he spent about 5 hours and didn't charge me more than what was quoted to me. I would definitely use this company again, they even come with a one year warranty. A+!

I have used this company once before, when I first bought my condo a few years ago and needed air conditioning repair. They were professional, on time, fairly priced, and fixed my problem without incident. I was happy with service and had no complaints.
Today, I needed someone again to come replace the filter in my heating unit which is high up at 13ft, I now have a Angie's List account so decided to go with All Temp (someone with more reviews and better grading than S&S Heating and Cooling). My unit was working well, I just had questions that it sometimes "whistles" when working, not all the time. I immediately had reservations with the technician from All Temp, He was unknowledgeable, unprofessional, throwing tools around, and messed up my wall. Before he left, my unit was not working and he said I needed a part replaced. I became frustrated because it was working before he arrived. I asked for another technician from All Temp, they assured me one would come that day but kept insisting every 2 hours someone was coming to fix the unit soon, that they were having problems today with unexpected problems.
I called S&S to come to the rescue (5 hours after not having any heat on this cold cold day and having a 3 month old baby in the condo) and they were very prompt in coming to help me out. They told me they would send their technician out after his current job. The only reason why I did not go with S&S was that All Temp happened to arrive 2 mins before the S&S technician (All Temp did not tell me when they would arrive) and I felt All Temp needed to remedy this situation. I was about to leave to go to a hotel for the night.
My furnace is still not fixed, I still have no heat and after this debacle, I wish I had contacted them earlier in the day. I regret not calling them first. From the person who answered the phone (who was so understanding that I had a baby) to the technician, I thank you S&S and will probably have to call tomorrow early Saturday AM for service.

Overall this emergency call was a huge success. Gas company was upgrading gas lines on my block and attempted to relight the pilot light on my boiler and unfortunately it didn't light. They thought that I needed a new gas valve, but was unable to connect with their guys to fix it. I called up the original Heating company who installed the boiler and a guy actually came out, but he didn't have the correct gas valve. I couldn't believe it. valuable time was lost, I am a landlord and had tenants above me and it was very cold outside (20 degrees). So I started calling down the line on Angie's List for H&C companies. No body was either open on a Saturday to do emergency calls, claimed that the parts store was closed past noon, or didn't have the gas valve I needed. Until I reach S&S Heating and Cooling. They were very professional on the phone. I explained the situation and what I needed. Within minutes I got a call back from Tom, the H&C representative, who dispatched Pat. Pat drove his car to purchase the part, then headed back to the office to take the van out which had all the tools. I was impressed because where all the other H&C guys failed to go the extra mile to serve their customer, S&S definitely came through tonight. Pat arrived and was again very professional, explained what was going on and didn't get annoyed from all my questions/curiosities. He was very thorough and efficient and had all the right tools to handle the job. He was in and out in about an hour and everything working properly. He did extra checks and balances to make sure that my boiler was operating at peak performance too.

Shortly after midnight I discovered that water was leaking into our guest bedroom from a heating closet above. As two hot water heaters and a boiler are housed in that closet I was at first uncertain which was leaking. I called our plumber--whom it turns out offers no emergeny service-- and our heating company (S&S) which I knew offered emergency service. Although S&S is a heating and cooling company they were able to install a new hot water boiler for me as a courtesy, because I am a regular customer. I appreciate the fact that they have an emergency service and that they were able to do the work for me at a reasonable price and in a timely manner.

It turned out very well. All of the things leading up the final ?getting a new boiler solution?, they credited and took the price off of the boiler. They did a really good. I would recommended.

They were very good. I was very happy with them. They came right away. The guy didn't have the part. He went away for a half an hour, came back and fixed it.

I contacted S&S after dealing with one of their competitors. The competitor was a nightmare to deal with. S&S arrived a little late due to van trouble, but once they arrived they were great. The removal of my existing furnace was really tricky since it was mounted to the ceiling. I am glad they were able to work through this. The installation probably took longer than usual for the same reason. Overall the three guys who did the work were professional and great to work with. I'll definitely be calling S&S for any future HVAC needs.

Little late with this report, but.. I used them for a furnace check-up last October. My furnace has a built-in 'direct-feed' humidifier. It has a water line connected to it. I was hoping they would be able to check it and tell me if it is in good shape, but the guy said he was not familiar with that type of humidifier. I understand this type of humidifier to be used in lots of condos, so was rather disappointed that he had no expertise with that humidifier.

We are an honest company and do not like to give info or advise on equipment we have no knowledge of, we could give a lot of useless and incorrect info but we pride ourselves in being there for the customer and not following in the footsteps of others. We were able to look at the furnace and perform all necessary work on it. We never want to hear that a customer was dissatisfied with our service, we make every attempt to come out and give the best service we are able to offer, We have a general manager and a service manager that have years of experience in the hvac industry, so they are always on hand to answer any questions that our customers have."

My AC went out in the middle of a heat wave. S&S answered my first phone call and scheduled an appointment at a time convenient to me. The service technician arrived as scheduled, examined the system, and advised that I needed a new motor. He then left to obtain the motor and returned to install it so that I did not have to schedule a second appointment and could return to work that afternoon. I was very pleased with the promptness, professionalism, and quality of work of the company and the service technician. I believe the price was fair. I will use them again.

Our neighborhood had a terrible flood. No kidding, 5.5 feet of water in my basement. One of my neighbors works for this company. The owner of the company graciously agreed to help out the neighbors by offering to clean out our furnaces for a wonderful rate of $75. However, there was extensive damage to the "mother-board/control. The technician was knowledgeable and courteous as well as symphathtic to our problem. He diagnosed the problem and made the appropriate repairs, arriving on time and cleaning up after the job was complete. He had to come back a 2nd time with the right part and did so in a timely fashion. He quoted me one price; however when told that the technician had made an error in his quote and the amount we owed was more, again the owner stepped up to the plate and agreed to split the difference in the true cost versus the incorrect quote. Overall, it was great working with this company. Efficient and ethical!

My AC hadn't been producing cool air for a few weeks, so I changed the filter (tip from a little google searching) without success. Called around to a few places to get estimates, but landed on these guys after reading an Angie's list review. They told me on the phone it'd be a flat $75 fee to come out and diagnose, then parts&labor for any repairs they'd make. It turned out that, because my compressor is located in the garage of a condo building, it tends to overheat and blow the circuit breakers for the AC unit......all they had to do was flip on the circuit breakers (which is literally the first thing the serviceman checked when he got into the apartment). The A/C worked after that and he told me this may happen in the future again, and to simply wait a few hours before re-starting the AC to give the compressor time to cool down from overheating. Now the one caveat to the visit was that serviceman told me that in addition to the $75 diagnostic fee, he's "supposed" to charge me for a little bit of labor time (though he did no more labor than flipping a switch)......he decided to waive the labor charges, I suppose because the math was too hard for less-than-a second's work. An overall good experience (not least because it could've been a WAY more expensive problem). These guys didn't try to find a problem that wasn't there and I appreciated that.

They were very reasonable, courteous, and they fixed the problems. The carbon monoxide service call was $75. It turned out the monitor was broken and it was not a furnace leak. I think they are a really good company and I have no complaints.

I spoke with some from S & S by 8, the serviceman was here by 10:45 (he was running late and called to say so, which was greatly appreciated), and out by 11:15. He gave me a referral for duct cleaning when I asked whether they provided that service and recommended that I have the furnace/ac system cleaned before the season begins. I will be using this company again. I couldn't be happier.
