PT'S HEATING & COOLING

Piotr was a referral from our general contractor. We had him out for a second bid after Four Seasons tried to convince us to spend $3600 on a new compressor. Piotr is obviously bright and seems to know a lot about AC. He said he thought compressor should be under warranty and he called company and confirmed it was (score !). He didn't tell us that we would be responsible for all costs except compressor, claimed to have sent emails with costs but couldn't produce them when challenged and didn't show up when scheduled despite repeated confirmations. As one reviewer said he has a great deal of difficulty explaining his plan beyond the obvious language barrier. Cost savings but headaches make it seem like a wash...

Peter is someone who completely knows what he's doing. He is smart and incredibly capable. I had issues when I had someone else install a radiator and when I asked him to redo something. He's harder to get back (but eventually did) and hates when people mess with his special area (he was probably right as to the radiator). I will use him again on my new house.

The work turned out pretty good. Overall the guy was quick, he was very polite, and the price was fair. There was a leak with a valve and there was water all over the basement, but they cleaned it up quick, which was nice.

When they initially came out I had the impression that they were knowledgeable and thoughtful. I decided to not go with this company because I thought that there was something lacking in the bid. I emailed a question to them about the project and I never got a reply. After the bid I am not so trusting of them.

Piotr is very good, and very knowledgeable. However, his ability to explain things is mixed. It is not just a language issue, as his English is understandable, it is more that he had a hard time explaining complex ideas to reasonably smart people who are not HVAC experts, which led to some frustrating conversations. Also, his workers really did not have much English at all, so they would do things like turn off the water in the building at unexpected times in order to do their work, without being able to tell us, or our tenants. The work was excellent, the boiler is great, and we like the new thermostat, though we are still figuring out how to use it... if you can be home a lot to deal with this company it might be easier, I found it quite hard to deal with them from work... I did like that Piotr presented us with lots of options. He also offers financing, which is helpful. And solar, which although we didn't use it, is very cool! The indirect water heater is fabulous. Piotr is not a "hard sell" kind of guy, which we liked. We went with the middle priced boiler of three options and I never felt Piotr was trying to talk us up... he really wanted to meet our needs.
