Jack was very easy to work with. Professional, responsive, and on-budget. Work was completed promptly. He worked in conjunction with a different contractor who was replacing my roof and they coordinated their related tasks without needing me to step in or anything. I would likely use him again. Nice work.

Very professional, very prompt, very informative- but it was more costly than i expected, and chose to put off the repairs for the time being.

I tried to get this done at the end of the year - I was given an appt that was 2 weeks out. I took it - sure that other Angies List providers would show up w/i that time frame and I would cancel. 4 different companies came and went with various degrees of success. Some gave me informal prices with promises of a formal quote that never got to me. One I shamed via Angies List review to come out - never got a quote.Jack showed up at the exact day and time we agreed. He was thoughtful in his approach. He took a good look at the project and explained what needed to be done. He promised me a quote. The quote arrived a few hours later! I gave one other contractor a "last look" but he never got around to giving me a formal quote and I opted with JL. Jack's quote gave me a heads up on what it would cost as well as what it "could" cost if rotting wood was found under the rusting, deteriorating siding. There would be no surprises on that and he did not pre-charge me - but he made me prepared for that additional cost. We agreed around New Years and he said his crew would come when the weather cooperated. I figured March. In Mid January I got a call - the guys reviewed the project again and gave me a date to start. The weather report gave them a week and they took it! They were safety conscience and took every precaution they needed to get to this very odd alcove. They were industrious and put in full days. They let me know what they were going to do every morning and what they accomplished each evening. My home office window looked out on their work so I was able to keep track. The leak was found above a 3rd floor window that could not be seen from the roof. No rain yet so I can't say it's complete - but I have a high confidence level. No rotted plywood was found! Jack had 3 crews showing up - Roofers, Siders, Masons - all 3 showed up like clockwork completing each task quickly and efficiently. Jack kept track of their progress and reviewed their work intermittently. It took about a week and it was completed. I have the utmost faith that if anything went wrong Jack would work to make it correct. He is very conscientious and tries very hard to work with the customer. I have had some bad contractors in the 15 years I have owned my 3 flat and know the drill. He never talked down to me, was willing to explain the process, listened to my concerns and checked them out. His crew was low maintenance, self sufficient and put in solid days. I would (and probably will be) hiring again. a 100+ year old house always needs something.

Jack was very quick to respond and come out to see my issue. I originally thought it was a siding issue but after Jack looked at various areas he determined what the source of my leaking was. They were backed up by about a month or two, but before I knew it I received a call that he was ready to go. The day of the repair there were 2 workman that showed up. They were a little slow to start, not having the necessary window, but after they left to get the necessary supplies they completed the work very quickly. Overall it was easy, right on with the quote, and nice to work with.

Went very well. They arrived around 8:15 and worked till around 6:30, cleaned up and did an excellent job.

Very small house (800 sq ft) - Spent one day replacing roof. Left house without gutters for four days. Nightly rains cause flooding and seepage. We were told they were very busy. Yard light, window screens and aluminum were damaged during roof replacement. Little care given to protect house or neighbors houses from debris. 2 1/2 weeks later we are finally done and repairs were made. This was a not a difficult job and fairly small. It did not go smoothly. Being very busy is not acceptable. The job should not be accepted or scheduled if they are too busy to complete it.

I appreciated him sending a proposal. He did it in a timely manner and it is very detailed.

They were incredible. They were so responsive. If Jack didn't pick up, he will call back within a few minutes. I had these lilacs that they would've had to cut in order to do the work, but they worked around it by crawling underneath them. They very accommodating. We are using them again for concrete work and they bid about half of what another company did.

I liked them, they were ok. They had to come back a couple of times and they did that without any problems at all, so I was happy with them.

The two workers did an excellent job. The old concrete was broken up and removed in one day. Due to bad weather the job was postponed for a few days which was quite understandable. They put in the gravel and leveled it then poured the new concrete and leveled it off. Because we were also having a fence put in at the same time both JL and Top Line worked together so the jobs could be completed without either getting in the others way. I would definitely recommend them for future work to both family and friends.

The gentleman gave us the best and the most accurate quotes He found issues when he did the variation of the roof that the other contractors weren't able to find. He was timely and gave us options. He worked within our budget and did a very good job. Their price wasn't the cheapest but it was fair enough.

First off I want to say that when I called to request an estimate, I was shocked to hear that Jack could not come for an entire month to even do the estimate. I took the appointment fully planning to cancel. That would have been a huge mistake. We needed the entire parapet of a four flat apartment building rebuilt and spot tuck pointing. Most contractors offered me two prices: one to keep the building aesthetics as they were and a cheaper price to just square off the top without replacing the stone elements. When I asked Jack if he would like to do the same, he said they were "just lazy". I received quotes ranging from $75,000 and down for this job. Jack came in a full $10,000 less than my lowest quote and did a stellar job. He is busy for a reason. I have recommended him to two friends since. He was not there in person at the job, but his crew was very professional and he was easily reached by email and very responsive to any concerns. Would definitely use again.

The work was very well done and made an immediate impact on how my home looks.

Jack came out to look at what to me was a large job. The cement squares (3'x10') were crumbling around my catch basin, the soil had eroded out from underneath the cement along the side of the house causing it to crack and slant and the long sidewalk out to the front needed to be replaced, widened and raised. There was a short delay to begin due to Jack having other commitments. The crew was here promptly at 8 a.m. and started removal right away. Because of rain they had to take a 2nd day to finish the removal. Once the weather allowed it was only a couple of days before the new cement was poured. Jack's crew finished it beautifully. The forms were removed 5 days later. I am thrilled with the results and have gotten compliments on how nice it now looks.

J L did a great job with our roofing project. The crew was punctual, clean and very accommodating to all of our needs. Highly recommended.

We had some cracks in our chimney and after discussing it with Jack, he set a very fair price and was able to schedule the masonry work very quickly. He communicated very well before the day and his crew arrived early Saturday AM and finished the work up by mid-day. THe Chimney looks brand new and Jack's guys were very easy to work with. I'd definitely recommend them for masonry work.

Jack was very helpful in determining the cause of water issues that we had with our roof and masonry. We worked with Jack and an architect to assess the problem and deteremined the best coarse of action. The work took a little longer than expected, but Jack kept us informed as we moved along. There were some additional costs along with way, but Jack was good at explaining the necessary replacements and the costs associated and tried to provide alternatives if they were available. The only issue was a broken window and a few chips out of a stone ledge which Jack was willing to cover the costs for repair.

They accurately diagnose and fix problems. Their work is meticulous and exacting. I use them exclusively for roofing issues.

They were excellent and we would use them again.

This is the second time we have used this contractor and we continue to be very pleased. They are responsive, communicate well and show up when they say they are going to be here. I would definitely recommend them.

After bad series of storms in the spring we experienced leaking around the windows of our second story. Building is a brick two-flat. Had 4 different vendors come out and assess the situation. It was determined that the parapet wall was in bad shape and would need to be rebuilt. Received 4 different quotes for the work. JL was neither the highest nor the lowest in terms of price, but in line with a couple others. I am a strong believer that in most cases you do get what you pay for, so I am not adverse to going with a higher bid if I feel more comfortable with the vendor. Jack at J L Contractors came out to do the estimate. I felt he had a good approach, seemed knowledgeable and presented reasonable options. Detailed proposal with contingency and optional work listed clearly. Answered all questions straightforward and did not come across as being pushy or trying to upsell anything. Once we decided to start the work, the crew was very professional, on-time and took care cleaning up. At one point after some brick was revealed, it was determined that the brick could not be re-used due to improper repairs done on it previously and new brick was the only option. Jack brought this to my attention and even offered to eat the cost since it was not in the original proposal. I did not feel that it was the contractors fault, since that could not be seen until the brick was removed, so we felt he should not be responsible for the extra cost. We appreciated that he offered to cover the costs. They did an excellent job at matching the brick color and mortar with the original facade. The job took a little longer to finish due to bad weather, but not through any fault of scheduling. In the end, we were very pleased with the work. After inspecting, there were a couple issues which I brought up with Jack and the crew was back out to fix within a day or so. Throughout the whole project, communication was very good with Jack. As an added nod to the crew doing the work, once the work was done and the brick needed to be powerwashed, they not only cleaned the brick, but also the concrete stairs and railing which had some discoloration due to moisture over the years. This was without being asked to do so, and I thought that showed a level of conscientiousness and professionalism that is sometimes absent in today's world. Very refreshing. In the end we are very happy with our decision to go with Jack and JL Contractors and would certainly recommend to others.

Work was done promptly and work was excellent. Communications with owner was sporadic; did not know when concrete man was coming, so therefore I was not there when he arrived.
