The repair I needed seemed fairly simple - replacing the plug hole on the machine where you plug in the foot pedal. The repair person showed up later than expected, and instead of fixing the machine, advised me that I would not be able to get that part if the machine was more than 7 years old. He advised me to buy a new Brother machine, showed it to me on the internet, collected his $69 cash and went on his merry way. I later took it into a Singer repair shop, and they fixed it for $89 within a week. I called Gunther to complain, and they mailed me a refund check - which was an extremely pleasant surprises.

Punctual, professional. It works perfectly now.
I just joined so I decided to check out the ratings for my sewing machine repair man. When I saw the other reviews online I felt compelled to write a review because my experience was very positive.

My machine is 42 years old, and Gary told me that he was working for Singer in CA when the machine I have was manufactured. He knew everything there was to know about my machine, he gave me many tips on how to care for my machine in the future. When he returned my machine, it was working very well, but he in tuning it up further, it started to act up, so he took it back again to his shop. It turned out to have a short in the cord that I never noticed before. I knew it was probably something simple, but he didn't want to leave it the way it was. He came back the next day and I can honestly say my machine has never worked so well, not even when it was new.
I knew it was going to cost a bit of money to fix and old machine, some might noy want to spend that kind of money when machines are so cheap these days, but this machine has been an old friend, and does everything I need it to do. It has metal gears, and the reason I want to keep it is that it is in its own cabinet, I do not have to haul it out onto a table. I can just lower it into the cabinet when I am done.
I read some of the other reviews, but I did not encounter any problems with his demeanor or his attitude. Gary was professional, kind, pleasant, and very informative. I will call him again to have my machine tuned up in the future with no hesitation.

I wish Angie's list had responded to my initial request to check this provider out but they did not. So I took a chance.

I called to ask if they worked on my specific sewing/embroidery machine, and I was assured he did. I was told there was a service charge that would cover most repairs. I was able to get an appointment for the next day.
When he came, he took one look at my Viking/Husqvarna and tried to tell me that the problem was in my selection of tension on the machine. The bottom line is that he did NOT know how to repair this machine as this is a top of the line, computerized model. This machine requires a special card for adjustments, and he did not have the card.
The bottom line is that he still wanted his service fee, as he did drive to my house. I managed to talk him down to half of the fee as I did tell him the type of machine it was and what it required before he came. The fault was his, not mine.
While I did find him personally rude, he did seem to know what he was doing. If I had an older machine I wouldn't hesitate to use him, as he did appear to know sewing machines in general, and his price, I thought, was reasonable.

My older Kenmore sewing machine was not working properly. The repairman came to my house and checked out the machine. There were a couple of things wrong with the machine and he was not able to repair it at my house. He needed to order some new parts to replace some that were damaged on my machine. He took the machine with him. He said he would return it in a week. After a week he called to let me know that he had not yet received the parts he needed to repair my machine. He would not be able to return my machine until he got the parts. The parts did come in and he brought my machine back in two weeks. It works beautifully. I am very pleased with the work he did. It works just like it did when it was brand new.

Garry was reasonable, fast, and did a good job with the work. Furthermore, he came to the house.

I am an avid quilter and teach classes at several Quilt Shops. I do not like leaving either of my sewing machines at a repair shop for a week or two for servicing. Garry seemed knowledgeable, efficient and all work is guaranteed. From the contact call, to setting up an appointment, to servicing the machines - took only four days. I have recommended this service to many of my fellow quilters.

I FOUND A GUY AT MY LOCAL FABRIC STORE WHO DOES THE SAME THING FOR HALF THE COST. THE REPAIRMAN WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND PROMPT BUT TOO EXPENSIVE IN MY MIND. I KNOW HE CAME TO MY HOUSE, BUT I WOULD RATHER HAVE SAVED THE MONEY AND DRIVEN THE MACHINE TO THE STORE MYSELF.
