Our house was built in 1968, and at the moment we are still running the original galvanized, bladderless well pressure tank. We know that a drain and flush is very much a DIY project; however, we are new to the maintenance intricacies of this type of water system (i.e., vs. municipally-provided water) and wanted to have a professional do this for us the first time to make sure there weren't any surprises with the fixtures, valves, or tank itself given its age. We called Jedd on a Friday to ask if he could do this for us, and if so, when. We scheduled a service appointiment for 10 a.m. the follwing Monday and thought we'd see him then. Schedules were rearranged so that someone to be home for this. 10 a.m. came and went, in which case I allowed for 10:30, thinking that I might have written down the time incorrectly. Unfortunately, Jedd never showed up, and he never called. As a disclaimer, I must state that this is our third interaction with Jedd. We chose him because his company's sticker was on the tank as the provider who serviced it last--and we wanted to bring in someone who perhaps had a little bit of history with our system. --We still researched him before first contact, and didn't find any negative reviews. The first interaction went very well. Upon moving in, we brought him out for a system evaluation, and to talk remodel and upgrade with us. He was really nice, professional, and personable (which is why I feel bad about writing this review), and insisted on charging us just a nominal fee for the service call--much less than he would usually charge--a gesture that was incredibly nice. For the amount of time he spent explaining everything to us, we wanted to pay him more, but he wouldn't accept it. We were hoping that Jedd was THE person for us--both now, and in the future when we remodel and replace our system. Several months later, we ended up having a slight change in the turbidity of our water, so naturally we called Jedd to make arrangements to have him come out and do some troubleshooting. With the first call, we left a voicemail message--the call wasn't returned. We called him a second time, but he was on a job and said he would call us back--he never did. As much as we wanted to hire him based on the first visit, it isn't our job to go running around behind (any) service provider to try to get him to call us back. So, we didn't bring him in for our issue. --This, of course, presented questions about potential communication problems. If we can't get him to call us back for run-of-the-mill issues, would we be able to rely on him in the event of an emergency? In wanting to try one more time, many months after that, we called him again for the drain and flush mentioned above. Needless to say, we won't be calling him anymore. We've since chosen a different (small) company, and the communication experience has been like night and day. I won't mix my review of that company with this one, but our new service provider called to confirm the appointment--and then called again later to let us know he was running slightly behind schedule (1/2 hour of the scheduled appointment time). THAT is what we expect and appreciate. I give Jedd's Well and Pump an A for the first appointment, but the last two instances of communication get the grade of F--in which case I think a fair overall grade for the review is D.
